Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress - Chapter 508: Technology & Trial

“Instructor Amon was really saddened upon hearing your refusal. Still, knowing that you would soon undergo a Trial and hearing of your recent advancement, he has prepared a gift for you.”
“This is it…”
Recalling the words of the male student, Liora played with the futuristic gun in her hand, twirling it around her fingers.
She couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
After questioning Alpha, she learned that Instructor Amon had indeed sent her an invitation through this male student.
But after Alpha had expressed her polite refusal, the other party had been visibly displeased.
Though they didn’t explicitly state it, the dissatisfaction of both the instructor and the student was apparent in their following messages.
Only a few days had passed since then, and nothing had changed.
Yet, after Liora cleared the three Blood Arenas and became a “triple champion”, the other party rushed to make up for the “misunderstanding”, even going as far as to send her a gift.
Fortunately, Liora was not an ordinary teenager who had never seen the world. She quickly recovered from this otherwise strange encounter, understanding the other party’s thoughts.
Lowering her head, she took a closer look at the futuristic gun, curiosity flashing in her eyes.
Although she had the memories of Earth, it was the first time she had held a gun.
She had seen some similar structures being sold in the Demon World in the past, but she hadn’t gone through the trouble of purchasing them at the time.
“Although there are Awakeners and technology is somewhat suppressed, this doesn’t mean that the technological achievements of the Cosmic World are low. If anything, they are quite advanced.”, Liora thought.
“Technology and Awakeners coexist, going hand in hand and helping one another become stronger. Awakeners use technological products, while scientists are also powerful Awakeners.”
Mechas. Genetic Potions. Even items like the AI Assistant that Anna had gifted her.
These were all technological products that made the lives of Awakeners easier.
In a way, even the Information World was suspected of being the result of technology.
Thinking of this, Liora continued examining the gun.
Its structure was strange and complicated, composed of millions of tiny parts that were seamlessly interconnected.
Furthermore, several restrictions had been placed along its body, making it impossible to decipher the way it had been refined.
Yet as Liora’s World of Heart was activated and a golden eye materialized on her forehead, her perception jumped into a higher dimension, allowing her to peer through its structure while bypassing those restrictions.
She soon nodded her head.
“This thing merely has the form of a gun, but is far from it. It doesn’t even use bullets. Instead, this weapon uses its holder’s strength as a medium to communicate with the surrounding Cosmic Energy.”
“If used well, this thing can even kill Rank 5 Awakeners and demons.”
A mere technological weapon was able to threaten Greater Devils.
This sounded impossible at first glance.
However, as the culmination of this world’s millions of years of technological advancement, this impossible feat had actually been achieved.
Liora spent a few minutes studying it.
Then, she decided to test out its power in person.
Her hand wrapped around its grip, and her index finger rested on the trigger, as she took aim.
She didn’t target a training dummy or even a nearby wall.
Rather, she let its barrel face her direction before suddenly pulling the trigger.
The entire gun trembled violently inside her palm, as though sentient and wishing to escape.
Faint tremors spread throughout her entire right arm, while several lights blinked.
The next moment, a deafening bang rang out.
A blue beam fired out of the gun and shot toward her left arm.
The beam carried the full power of a Rank 5 Awakener.
Even Rank 6 Awakeners would have to avoid its edge, as it was more than enough to inflict injuries on them.
But the instant it struck Liora’s skin, the terrifying blow instantly dissipated.
Only a faint white mark remained on the spot where it had struck, coupled with a faint twitching of Liora’s skin.
Seeing that the gun had been unable to bring her any harm, Liora was not disappointed in the slightest.
A smile appeared on her face, and she nodded her head with satisfaction.
“The student did not boast. Although the attack is not instantaneous and one can dodge if their reflexes are fast enough, its power is self-evident.”
Being able to leave a mark on her skin had already revealed the gun’s power.
Liora knew her own strength the best.
The integration of dozens of talent genes with their Domains had already made her terrifying while she was still at Rank 4.
Now that she had advanced even further and reached Rank 5, her physical strength and overall Base Stats had soared once again.
Even if she were to face an Archdevil, she would be able to contend against them relying solely on her physical strength.
Her combat prowess had already reached Rank 7.
In little more than a month, she had recovered most of her former strength, while it wouldn’t take her long to recover the rest.
Unfortunately…
“I still haven’t regained my Throne or abilities. The Contract with the Demon World was clear. I don’t need to have the combat power of an Archdevil, but to reach the corresponding rank in the native power system.”
“This means… I must reach Rank 7.”
“Only then will my true potential be unleashed. This world’s power system, combined with my Devil strength, should be enough to surpass my peak at once.”
Before leaving the Demon World, Liora’s Devil strength had reached the Throne stage, while her World of Heart gave her the combat power of a relatively weak Ascension Stage Archdevil.
Once Rank 7 Awakener power was added to the equation, her combat strength would rise to an entirely new level.
After all, she possessed Rank 7 power while still at Rank 5. If she reached Rank 7, how strong would she be?
Countless thoughts raced through her mind.
Just as she was about to put the gun away and concentrate on her practice, a blue light emerged from her head and transformed into Alpha.
“My Lord.”, she bowed respectfully.
“You have received a message from the War Academy. It concerns the upcoming Trial for new students…”
