Evolution of the Ruined Heir - Chapter 350: Happy

Chapter 350: Happy
A wide smile had found its way to Malakai’s face.
The things he’d just discovered were simply far too great.
First was Renlo’s newly acquired power. Though it was truly a shame that he’d been tortured and had his limbs replaced, Malakai had decided to see things from a different perspective, the positive side, as many would call it.
Before the incident at Sylvastein, Renlo had formed a total of three nodes and was on the way to forming the fourth.
He’d formed them in his stomach, heart, and brain. Despite the brutal experiment he went through, all of these nodes were still intact, since he hadn’t formed any in his limbs anyway.
Still, this wasn’t Malakai’s current focus. In the spar they had just fought, Renlo had moved at a speed and power that dwarfed anything he should have been capable of achieving.
It was as though Renlo had created nodes in his limbs, when he hadn’t.
The implications were what gripped Malakai. Renlo had the power to surpass people in his rank. If he fought a node formation expert with three nodes right now, it wouldn’t even be a fight.
Malakai couldn’t wait until Renlo formed his nodes. He had the potential to become truly strong.
Then there was him. He’d just discovered that his perception had shot up from a fifty-meter radius to two hundred, and this was when he focused in all directions.
When he narrowed in on one, he had seen and felt everything in a six hundred meter radius!
Malakai shuddered. Though happy at the sudden increase in power, he couldn’t help but feel wary of the incredible growth he was experiencing.
Regardless, it did nothing to dampen his mood, which was at an all time high. Now he focused on his vita, particularly, his control.
He felt it roaming around him, as though begging for his attention. But unlike before, Malakai didn’t just feel it. Somehow, he resonated with it.
’I can control it.’
He stretched out a palm, and vita surged toward it. It formed an orb that hovered above his palm.
’And I don’t have to make any contact.’
Malakai fixed his eyes on a tree in the distance. It was far away from Renlo, in another direction.
With a thought, the orb blasted forward like a missile. Just as it was about to hit the tree, Malakai’s eyes flickered, and it halted.
Like being called by its master, it shot back toward him, stopping just above his palm.
Malakai smiled, twirling it around his arms like a ball. He made sure it didn’t make any contact with him.
Then, he shot it out again, but this time not toward a tree but around him. The orb circled in a wide arc, sometimes rising, sometimes falling. The arc widened with each successive round.
’Let’s see how far I can go.’
He could feel the vita in a two hundred meter radius from him. Did that mean he could control it around that same radius? He put it to the test.
Unfortunately, that assumption was wrong. Malakai had only been able to control the orb past the hundred meter mark, half his normal radius.
’Hmm.’
He released the orb, its form dissolving into the air. He focused, and vita surged around him, converging into countless orbs.
They swarmed around him in droves, then shot out in multiple directions. As they neared any trees, they came to an abrupt stop before vanishing into the air.
The same thing repeated itself, droves of vita orbs materializing and vanishing in rapid succession.
By now, Renlo had paused his training to stare at the impossibility occurring in front of him. Even Nyx, perched on top of a tree, had a look of disbelief.
Of all the things she’d witnessed in Sylvastein, one would think this little thing wouldn’t shock her. Only, this wasn’t some little thing. What Malakai was doing was insane. Impossible.
She could feel he was a synergy stage evolved now, which was insane in itself. But most blooms struggled to control vita beyond forty meters, and some couldn’t control it at all.
Yet here was Malakai, doing just that with such ease.
Malakai felt the stares on him, surprisingly, even the subtle one that came from the main building of the fortress, but he paid no heed.
’He knows already.’
The sovereign knew about his exploits in Sylvastein, yet during their meeting, he hadn’t even broached the topic.
Which could only mean the sovereign knew the answer to every question he could ask Malakai.
He didn’t have to be wary of Othric. At least, for now.
Malakai cleared his thoughts and focused on the task at hand. His aim was to see how far he could go.
He was controlling the vita in the air, but not exhausting any of his own. Which meant he should be able to keep going indefinitely, right?
’Wrong.’
The thought thundered in his mind after a few more moments. By now he’d lost track of how many times he’d repeated the process.
Still, he was focused on the splitting headache that suddenly wracked his head. He couldn’t keep on going indefinitely.
’Mental power.’
It required his mental power to use this ability. Right now, he felt drained and mentally tired. Though his body brimmed with vigor and strength, he felt like sleeping.
’I should take some rest.’
Tuning everything else out, Malakai settled on the ground and began meditating, aiming to recover his mind. He was excited for the future.
…
Khana’s eyes snapped open to a familiar ceiling.
’My room.’
She blinked once, twice, feeling the hot sun from the afternoon heat. It was late afternoon, so what was she doing in bed?
She tried to stand, but a sharp pain jolted her. Taking a deep breath, she attempted to stabilize her heart rate.
’Pain? My face feels warm… my face…’
Like a flash, the events of earlier flooded her mind. She’d gone to the main building to confront Malakai, and… and…
