Chapter 590 Law Seeds and Lily’s Law [2]
Michael stood in a terrible state.
The lion, however, was in an even worse state. Its golden mane had dulled. Its chest heaved with effort, molten blood spilling from deep fissures that split through its ribs and across its jaw. Cracks ran along its radiant hide where Michael’s fists had landed again and again, leaving blackened scars. Its once-proud roar was broken, ragged, closer to a cough than the voice of a king of beasts.
And beneath that pain was disbelief.
When it had fought alongside the serpent, when their Laws struck Michael from both sides, the lion had believed the “fruit” was only barely managing to survive through sheer stubbornness. But now, stripped of the serpent’s cover, forced into a one-on-one clash, the truth had become painfully clear.
Alone, Michael was a monster.
The lion’s mind struggled to grasp it. This human, this fruit, should not have been able to match them. His lifeforce, though robust, still told he was young.
Also, he hadn’t even be “blessed” by the world like “him”.
The beast staggered back a step, molten blood spattering the ground beneath its paws.
Michael’s gaze narrowed as he advanced. The ground shook beneath his stride, his presence swelling larger with every motion.
At least, to the beast that was what it felt like.
The lion’s heart pounded. Its mane flared desperately.
Michael raised his spear, its black-green edge gleaming with killing intent.
What followed after that held no suspense.
The lion died-though it was not Michael who struck the final blow.
It couldn’t be helped. At his current level cap, the experience points would have been wasted on him anyway.
So, Michael had Gale deliver the finishing strike.
The reward was immediate. The undead surged with power, leaping straight to level 58 thanks to its accumulated foundation and the massive bonus from killing such a high-level foe.
Michael couldn’t help but reflect. Had Gale fought from the start, the gain might have been even greater. But the irony wasn’t lost on him- once upon a time his undead had dwarfed him in strength, yet now it seemed weaker in comparison.
Michael turned his gaze across the others. They were done as well.
The serpent had fallen under the combined assault of Prince, Lily, and Lucky, with Lucky delivering the final strike.
As for the crystalline beast, Beginning’s overwhelming force and Prince’s soul puppets left it no chance. Prince had been the one to land the killing blow.
The Forest pgrew quiet at last. Three Rank 3 monsters lay defeated.
Michael let out a breath, his eyes scanning his undead. This was, in some ways, a good ending.
His undead had grown stronger.
Prince now stood at level 59.
Lucky was at level 58-the same as Gale.
But what truly stunned Michael were his Titans.
Lily-so quiet and unassuming-had risen to level 59, equal to Prince.
And Beginning… Beginning now stood at level 61.
Too strong. Far too strong.
When Michael pressed them for answers, the reason became clear.
It was their Laws.
[Law of Brutal Rebirth (Seed)]
Born from agony and forged in survival, this law transforms pain into fuel. Severe wounds trigger powerful regenerative bursts-the closer to death, the stronger the rebirth.
Connected to the Law of Life.
This was Beginning’s Law.
According to it, activating Rebirth this time had granted the Titan several permanent levels. Combined with the vast experience harvested from the crystalline beast’s death, its current level
suddenly made sense.
Michael was in awe.
And yet… a sliver of suspicion gnawed at him. Beginning’s Law was already formidable, but the more he witnessed it, the more he suspected there was something hidden beneath the surface.
The fact that its activation could sometimes bestow permanent levels was proof enough-such a phenomenon was anything but ordinary.
Michael’s gaze lingered on the Titan, eyes narrowing slightly. There had to be more to this Law, more than even Beginning itself might yet understand.
In the end, it was up to him-and his undead-to unravel its depths.
Then Lily’s Law.
[Law of Devouring Bloom (Seed)]
All beauty conceals hunger. This law allows the host to absorb essence from what it consumes, turning it into healing, strength, or even temporary traits.
The description of Beginning’s Law matched too closely with what Lily had told him about her own sudden surge in strength. She had grown stronger because she had devoured something.
But what exactly could she have consumed in such a short span to gain so much power? Surely it wasn’t the corpses of the monsters…
right?
It wasn’t.
What Lily had devoured were not bodies, but something far more profound-Law Seeds.
A mysterious object Michael was only just learning about. According to Lily, Law Seeds grew inside the bodies of Rank 3 monsters. She had only discovered them because her own Law seemed to draw her toward them. She hadn’t known what they were, but when she “ate”
them, she grew stronger.
Those words alone had driven Michael into despair.
At the time, he hadn’t even understood what these “things” were, but
the unease in his chest had told him enough: anything that could
benefit Lily in such a terrifying way could not be ordinary.
His despair had only deepened when he collected the two dozen Law Seeds Lily hadn’t consumed and cast [Detect] on them.
[Law Seed]
This is the physical seed of Law formed within creatures that have drawn closer to the existence of the universal.
That was all the description revealed. Every seed carried the same explanation, yet that simplicity did nothing to lessen their value. Michael didn’t fully understand what they truly were, but he could tell enough. These seeds were part of what made Rank 3 monsters Rank 3 monsters. Perhaps not the only reason, but certainly one of
the pillars.
And Lily had already “digested” more than five of them.
Michael’s heart bled at the loss.
Fortunately, he still didn’t know the other possible functions of these
Law Seeds. If he had, even he wasn’t sure how he would have reacted.
