Extra's Death: I Am the Son of Hades - Chapter 752: Slumber

Chapter 752: Slumber
Neo POV
Neo, the Blessed of Water, and Moraine were traveling through space.
The stars stretched endlessly around them. The silence was broken only by the hum of the ship’s engines.
Suddenly, the Blessed of Water’s eyes began to glow.
Neo’s attention snapped toward her.
That light only appeared when the Supreme took over her body.
“Stop the spaceship,” the Supreme said. Her voice carried a calm authority that filled the room. “There’s no need to go there anymore.”
Neo frowned. “What do you mean?”
The Supreme didn’t answer.
She walked toward the center of the hall and closed her eyes.
A low chant began to flow from her lips in a language Neo didn’t recognize.
The air around her thickened.
Her presence swelled until the walls of the ship began to vibrate.
Blood began to drip from her eyes, nose, and mouth.
Neo stepped forward instinctively.
“Stop, you’re—”
But before he could finish, the blood that hit the ground began to rise.
It floated together, swirling like a red mist before shaping itself into a human body.
White hair. Red eyes.
Amelia.
She was unconscious, floating quietly in the air.
The Supreme of Water fell to her knees, coughing violently. Blood splattered onto the floor. Her once radiant form began to shrivel and dim.
“I’m sorry, child, for doing this to you,” she whispered weakly.
Then, mouth moved again.
Her voice was same. However, her tone changed. It became softer, warmer like a child speaking to her mother. “It was my honor to serve you, Mother. To fall while being in your embrace is my greatest reward.”
Neo stood frozen.
He could barely understand what he was seeing.
The Blessed of Water—the Supreme’s vessel—was dying.
Cracks spread across her skin like shattered glass.
The Supreme looked toward Neo, her fading eyes meeting his.
“She is the only one I could save,” she said, her gaze drifting back to Amelia.
Then she looked at him again.
“I will fall asleep now. I’ve broken too many Laws and spent too much energy to bring her back.”
She tried to stand but her legs gave out.
Still, she forced herself upright and took one trembling step toward Neo.
“Son of Monarch… no,” she said softly, “Neo Hargraves.”
Neo’s breath caught in his throat.
His mind was processing and understand everything that was happening.
Yet, his heart wanted to refuse it all.
“Protect this child. She is our only hope. The only weapon that can defeat ’him.’”
Her voice faded.
Her body began to crumble like sand slipping through fingers.
Neo reached out, but it was too late.
The body of the Blessed of Water disintegrated completely, and the presence of the Supreme vanished.
The silence that followed was unbearable.
Neo clenched his fists.
“What did she mean by that?” he muttered. “She said she’s going to fall asleep? Amelia’s the only weapon?”
He looked at Amelia’s floating body.
“And why did she say she could only save her?”
Unease crept into his chest.
He turned to the ship’s console.
They were still several hours away from the Site.
“Damn it.”
He slammed his hand on the table.
He looked back at Amelia.
She was still unconscious. Her breathing was steady but faint.
His mind ran through possibilities.
Were they defeated by the Ancient Dragons?
That didn’t make sense. They had Amelia, Arthur, Percival, Felix. Each of them was powerful in their own right.
“They shouldn’t have lost. Even the dragons wouldn’t have been able to overpower all of them at once,” Neo muttered, as if trying to reassure himself.
Moraine looked at him with a gaze filled with emotions.
She saw him trying to deny the truth in front of his eyes.
He started pacing, tapping his foot against the metal floor.
Every second that passed made his worry worse.
He wanted Amelia to wake up. He needed answers.
Moraine spoke from behind him. “Neo, stop getting anxious. Worrying won’t change anything. You need a clear mind to decide what to do next.”
Neo looked at her and nodded slowly. “You’re right.”
He took a deep breath and sat down.
The minutes crawled by.
The hum of the ship felt louder now. Every vibration seemed to echo through the silence.
He forced himself to stay calm, though his thoughts refused to stop spinning.
He kept glancing at Amelia, hoping she would move.
Hours passed like that.
“Neo,” Moraine said finally, “we’re here at the Site.”
Neo didn’t wait.
He teleported out of the ship immediately.
And froze.
There was nothing.
Just empty space stretching endlessly in every direction.
He blinked, thinking for a moment that they had arrived at the wrong location.
But when he checked the coordinates, they were exact.
Everything that had should’ve existed here—the Site, the Berserker Elementals, his friends—was gone.
“There’s not even a trace of Berserker Elements,” he said quietly. “It’s all been erased.”
Arthur. Percival. Felix. The Soul Fragment of his mother. Even the faint traces of the Site’s structure were gone.
Neo tried turning back time.
The spell activated, but nothing changed.
Everything here had already been destroyed at the most fundamental level.
It wasn’t just erased, it was scattered.
He realized what it meant.
Even if he used his full power, he couldn’t bring them back.
To recover what was lost, he would need to reverse the time of the entire universe.
Even with [Loan], that was impossible.
The Initial Energy required to get that much Loaned energy would be beyond what he could provide.
“Damn it!”
Neo slammed his fist against the air.
Space itself trembled and cracked.
Blood ran down his lips where he had bitten them.
’I should never have let them leave Earth.’
’I should’ve forced them into my Cosmos.’
’I should’ve—’
His mind filled with regret.
Every possible decision he could’ve made flashed through him like knives.
But it was too late for all of it.
He clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white.
“Neo!” Moraine’s voice called sharply from the ship. “She’s waking up! Come here!”
Neo teleported inside instantly.
Amelia’s floating body had gently descended to the floor. Her chest rose and fell as she took a weak breath.
Her eyelids fluttered open.
“I…” she murmured, her voice hoarse. Her gaze moved around the room until it found Neo. “Neo? You’re here?”
“Yeah,” he said softly.
Amelia smiled faintly.
“Then everyone else—”
“I’m sorry.”
She froze.
The small smile vanished.
Her eyes searched his face, looking for a hint that he was lying.
But Neo didn’t say another word.
He didn’t need to.
Amelia’s head lowered.
Her white hair fell forward, covering her face.
Her hands trembled.
She clenched them into fists.
Even without seeing her eyes, Neo could feel the despair radiating from her.
After a long silence, she spoke in an eerily calm voice. “How am I alive?”
“The Supreme of Water saved you. She used all her power to bring you back. It forced her into a deep sleep.”
“I see,” Amelia said.
She squeezed her hands tighter until the faint sound of cracking bones filled the room.
Still, her voice didn’t shake.
“Can you save the others?”
Neo stayed silent.
That was answer enough.
Amelia didn’t look up.
Her shoulders trembled once, then went still.
After a long pause, she stood slowly.
Her steps were unsteady.
Neo finally saw her face.
Her eyes had lost all light.
They looked empty, as if she was dead.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered.
Sorry for what?
Why was she saying sorry?
Neo wanted to tell her that it wasn’t her fault, but words wouldn’t come out of his mouth.
“I need to rest. My head hurts,” she said.
Her tone was strange, too calm for someone who had just lost everything.
Amelia turned away and walked toward the private quarters of the ship.
The door closed behind her with a soft hiss.
Neo and Moraine stood there in silence as Amelia slept in her chamber.
Days passed after that.
Amelia didn’t wake up again.
Neo tried using his powers—the Concept of Life Element, Happiness—to restore her state of mind.
He tried countless more techniques.
Nothing worked.
She remained asleep. Her breathing steady but shallow.
“Her psyche is broken,” Moraine said, checking up on her.
Neo often sat near her bed.
Sometimes he talked to her, hoping she would respond.
Sometimes he just sat there in silence, staring.
Moraine stayed quiet most of the time, watching over both of them.
But Neo could feel it, the faint pulse of despair in the ship’s air.
The once bright light that Amelia had started to carry after becoming the Supreme’s Loved One had dimmed completely.
And for the first time in a long while, Neo felt truly helpless.
He looked out the window, at the endless darkness of space, and whispered to himself, “I’ll find a way to fix this. I promise.”
But even he wasn’t sure who he was trying to convince anymore.
He stood up and left Amelia’s chamber.
“Neo?” Moraine called out, sensing something was wrong.
“I’m fine. I’m just going to focus on my battle with Alliance. They’ve reached the Illyana’s kingdom where Jack and my clone are. Since the ship won’t reach there on time, I will use my clone to fight.”
His voice was strangely devoid of any emotions.
Moraine bit her lips.
She wanted to help, but her strength was limited.
“Have you tried speaking to Space to help us reach the location faster? And what about the leader of the Forgotten Suns,” she asked, hoping to keep the conversation going so that Neo could stop thinking about his late friends even if for a moment only.
“Space isn’t speaking to me anymore. I guess… I’ve become his Hated One. As for the leader of Forgotten Suns, I can’t track them without Space’s help. Even Illyana said she doesn’t know their coordinates.”
Neo clenched his fists his as he looked outside of the ship in the vast emptiness of the space.
