Chapter 1722: Chapter 1721 Prince Qingye
I’m begging you, act like a human.
Again with that phrase. Bei Yun let out a sigh.
He bid farewell to Bei Lingsu and turned to head back to the Three Kingdoms camp.
Just as he entered, Prince Qingye seemingly appeared out of nowhere, grinning as he looked at Bei Yun and asked, “Bei divine doctor, did the other Bei divine doctor want something from you?”
“Naturally, she wanted to scold me and inquire about the antidote for the poison.”
“And what did you tell her?” Prince Qingye hurriedly asked.
“Considering that she has helped me a lot before, this time I told her.” Bei Yun answered honestly.
“What?!” Prince Qingye’s voice instantly shot up, and a flash of anger appeared on his face.
Bei Yun tilted his head slightly, “What, does Prince Qingye think I’ve done wrong?”
Hearing this, Qingye forced a smile onto his face. “This humble prince wouldn’t dare.”
Bei Yun shifted his gaze elsewhere and stepped forward, ready to leave.
Qingye quickly added, “Bei divine doctor, my Three Kingdoms have brought an army of three hundred thousand this time, intent on capturing Daqi’s six prefectures in one swoop. I hope you’ll weigh this carefully.”
“Got it.” Bei Yun kept walking without stopping.
Qingye watched his retreating figure, squinting slightly, then turned and headed to his own tent.
Bei Yun returned to his own tent, which was right beside Qiao Xiaomai’s. When Qiao Xiaomai saw him return, she immediately came forward to ask, “What did you and Lingsu talk about?!”
“I told her the method to cure the poison. You don’t need to worry.” Bei Yun had originally intended to go to his own tent, but upon seeing Qiao Xiaomai’s anxious expression, he changed direction into her tent.
“I told her about Lady Gu. She suggested I offset my crimes by rendering meritorious service, but setting aside her, no one else trusts me. Even she, deep in her heart, has doubts about me.” Bei Yun sighed as he spoke.
His past misdeeds were too many—so many that even he didn’t trust himself.
Which was why he was now truly undecided.
When Qiao Xiaomai heard this, she furrowed her brows. “You’re still grappling with the issue of freedom?”
“Of course, I’ve grown used to following my whim.”
Qiao Xiaomai clicked her tongue at his words. “Life is precious; love is more so. For the sake of freedom, I would forsake them both.”
“Huh? You can write poetry?” Bei Yun was astonished, and when he realized the meaning of the poem’s content, he was even more shocked. “So you’re encouraging me to continue living like a beast?”
“I was merely sharing my feelings. No coercion involved—it’s entirely up to you.”
For someone like Bei Yun, if you wanted him to change, it had to come from his own willingness. Otherwise, if he ever reverted back to his old ways, the chaos it might bring would be something Daqi couldn’t afford.
Bei Yun’s shock turned into an expression of difficulty. “In all my decades of living, I’ve never encountered a dilemma like this.”
“Take your time thinking. Make sure you weigh it carefully.”
The perfunctory tone of her remarks made Bei Yun glance at Qiao Xiaomai before turning around and leaving.
What should I do…
Bei Yun left, and Qiao Xiaomai prepared to go to bed. Today had been exhausting emotionally, and she herself was a bit drained too. She was just about to ask someone to prepare some hot water for a bath when an unexpected visitor suddenly entered her tent: Prince Qingye.
He truly was an unwelcome guest. As soon as Qiao Xiaomai saw him, her face immediately tensed with caution. “What are you here for?!”
“I’ve come to see you, Miss Qiao. You truly are a treasure.” Prince Qingye stared at Qiao Xiaomai with a grin, and his smile made her shiver all over.
She felt like she was being watched by a venomous snake—a snake scheming to figure out the deadliest way to devour her!
