First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1012 - 1012: The Fairy Realm…

The fairy realm is like a fever dream come to life.
It is both a densely packed jungle and a wide open clearing at the same time.
The air shimmers with a faint golden glow that makes it look as if the entire atmosphere is charged with magic. Though that isn’t too far from the truth…
In the top of the trees, there are a series of huts that resemble homes. Each of them made from wood and some finer white and gold materials. They possessed a dome shape and had wide-open doors and windows.
It seemed Fae had little interest in privacy…
That aside, they were among the most lavish little tree huts that Courtney had ever seen. She counted hundreds at first glance. Her senses told her that it was a poor estimate.
In the deepest part of the grove, there was a structure that was significantly larger and grander than all the others.
A woman dressed in white and silver robes strode out of the opening. Her skin was an illustrious violet color, almost like a jewel.
Behind her back flapped two azure butterfly wings. Each of them was almost twice as large as her entire body.
Like so many others flapping around, she became visibly excited at the group’s arrival.
When her eyes landed on Nubia and Mateo, her wings fluttered in sync with her rising excitement.
“OMG, OMG, OMGGGG!!!”
The fairy bolted from her perch and threw herself at Mateo like a rabid fan-girl.
“Priscilla, don’t you dare-“
“Vampy-Baby!”
Mateo was tackled to the ground by a woman who weighed less than half of what he did.
She straddled him like he was a runaway pony and stared down at him with a lascivious grin.
“To what do I owe the pleasure, handsome? You haven’t graced me with your presence in a long time now.”
“Y-Yes, marriage’ll do that to a man…”
Mateo burst into a cloud of dark ash.
He reappeared behind Nubia and Adeline, dusting off his suit and praying to the heavens that everyone had seen he was an unwilling participant in her affections.
That would be important later, for when Malenia inevitably smelled her on him.
Priscilla floated upwards on her own and circled the group of visitors.
Courtney immediately noticed that her eyes seemed like gems. It was as if hunks of rock had been implanted behind her eyelids.
She blinked and let her gaze linger on Courtney for a few seconds before inevitably finding Nubia much more interesting.
“Why, hello there… I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced.”
Nubia was unfazed. Adeline, on the other hand, had smoke billowing out of her ears.
The fairy queen held out her hand for Nubia to take. After a moment of consideration, she did so.
“I’m…”
“Oh, you don’t need to tell me, darling. Your beauty and radiance speak for themselves. I’m honored to behold it before I fade away.”
Adeline slapped the queen’s hand away and held Nubia possessively.
All of this only made the queen laugh.
“Your jealousy would indicate that you find me threatening, no? I’ll take that as a compliment, but it’s unnecessary. As a colossal weight of the crown, I am unable to partake in either of you. A shame.” Priscilla wiped a tear from her eye.
It was molten gold.
Courtney rubbed the back of her head in confusion. “I thought that fae didn’t discriminate?”
The queen seemed intrigued to hear Courtney speak up.
“…We don’t. However, I am duty-bound to further my lineage. My consort can only be of the opposite sex. My fertility can’t go to waste.”
Fae have low birth rates, with only around 2,000 children being born a year. When they try to breed with other species, the birth rate drops even more dramatically.
Through special… ceremonies, the queen herself can give birth to hundreds of children at once every two to three months.
It’s a beautiful ceremony. However, the cleanup is anything but.
She floated over to Courtney and stared at her curiously.
“You… you’re interesting. What might you be, little fish?”
Courtney swallowed as if she wasn’t sure how to answer. “That-“
“She’s my sister.” Nubia wrapped Courtney underneath her cloak. “That’s all you need to know.”
“Play sister or real sister?”
“The word isn’t just a flippant phrase my family uses whenever it suits them.”
Priscilla circled Courtney with renewed interest.
“I heard whispers about your parents taking in a human child. I thought someone was pulling my leg.”
She wrapped her arm around Courtney and threw her hands to the sky. “Well, this is WONDERFUL! I was hoping to see one of your handsome brothers, or maybe even that delicious father of yours just once, but I can settle for meeting the adorable little sister.”
Priscilla tipped Courtney’s chin upward and stared into her eyes. “Do you know what this calls for…?”
“Don’t say it…” Mateo rubbed his head.
“A party!!” Priscilla began to shed literal glitter and confetti from her wings.
Courtney ignored the fae queen’s little party trick and removed her hand from her chin. “Sorry, but we don’t have time for-“
“Here, a party favor!” Priscilla stuck a little plastic baggy in front of Courtney’s face.
Inside was a white powdery substance that Courtney had only ever seen on TV. She was mortified.
“O-Oh my god, what the fuck!?”
Mateo tried to knock the bag out of Priscilla’s hand.
“Can you please not offer my goddaughter cocaine within three minutes of meeting her!?”
“Calm down, Vampy-Baby, it’s not like it’s heroin.”
It’s true that fae like alcohol and partying. They have for thousands of years now.
But with the discovery of manufactured drugs, they’ve expanded their liking to other areas as well.
They can enjoy hard drugs without all of the negative side effects humans get. But that only makes things worse for the humans they sneak out of their realm to party with.
Fae drag out humanity’s worst inhibitions and label it as ‘playing’.
They easily can entice humans they’re fond of into overdosing without even meaning to. And because of their short memories, they’ll forget about it in two weeks.
For that reason, Abaddon doesn’t have a great opinion of fae. If he ever found out Mateo brought his daughters here, he’d probably have an aneurysm.
“No one’s here to do coke with you!” Sabine suddenly snapped.
The flowers at her feet bloomed into angry red colors. Intriguing the fae queen quite a bit.
“Some of your faeries have been doing business with humans. Selling their dust and parts of their bodies in exchange for… d-drugs i’m guessing.”
Priscilla would neither confirm nor deny that.
Mateo and Nubia tried to stop Sabine before she revealed too much, but Sabine was emotional. Desperate.
And Priscilla’s lackadaisical attitude had sent her over the edge.
“We need to know who these witch clans are and where they are, and you’re going to tell us because you can’t lie!” Sabine finished.
Instantly, Nubia and Mateo winced.
Priscilla’s lips turned upward in an enchanting and downright dangerous smile.
“Ohh…? Well, that’s no problem at all. Anything to help out such a lovely individual as yourself. Especially since I now know just how badly you want to know…”
Sabine loosened up a bit, but her moment of relaxation proved to be preemptive.
“But the world is give and take, beautiful. I can answer your question, but isn’t it only fair that you all do something for me in my realm?”
Priscilla lifted a finger and pointed it at Mateo.
“Either he can take off his clothes and follow me up to my chambers, or…”
The fairy queen pulled open her plastic baggy and dangled it’s contents out in front of Courtney.
“The baby sister can party with the big kids for just a bit. If only so that we can see how much like her ‘mother’ she truly is~”
– Musphelheim…
Thrudd hated being hot.
Well, it wasn’t as if heat could actually harm her, but it wasn’t comfortable for her to stay in either.
She liked chilly bedrooms that were a calm sixty degrees or lower.
Maybe that’s what happens when the mother who carried you the most is an ice giant.
That said, Thrudd was having a hard time in the land of the fire giants.
The realm was a blistering inferno- with no shortage of rolling volcanoes and lakes of infernal magma.
A layer of ash covers the sky, and has for so long that the sun hasn’t been seen here in eons. Not that it needed the extra warmth…
It was also difficult to breathe in the fire realm.
Air is a hard thing to come by with no trees to produce oxygen, and a constant temperature of 100-plus degrees burning any lingering carbon dioxide out of the air.
It is the reason why nothing grows here.
And yet, Thrudd and Zheng were staring at a field of corrupting flowers that were growing perfectly fine within the hellish realm.
Neither the molting rock underneath them, nor the scorching air around them brought them even the slightest bit of trouble.
‘Granny theorized that they were growing based on magic… guess that was true.’ Thrudd thought.
“Everyone’s in position. Are you ready?”
Zheng had already double-checked his weapons and supplies while waiting for Thrudd to get out of her own head.
He readjusted his mask and gave her a slight nudge to hopefully get her to pull herself together.
It was enough.
“Sorry. I’m focused, I promise.”
“Not really what I asked, but…”
Ignoring him, Thrudd drew her sword and shield from behind her back.
She closed her eyes and mentally reached out to her family scattered across the nine realms.
‘On my mark…’
