First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1095 - Capítulo 1095: We Build Again

Capítulo 1095: We Build Again
“Oh my god, my darling!”
Shiva’s wife, Parvati, rushed over to her husband’s suspended body in tears.
She threw herself on top of him and sobbed violently in relief. Lailah wrapped her body in a hug and whispered in her ear.
“It’s alright, he’s going to be fine. Your husband held on long enough for me to get to him. Now all he needs is rest.”
Parvati through herself at Lailah next. A river of godly tears streamed down her shoulder.
“Thank you so much, Lailah! Thank you! Bless you!” Parvati kissed both of her cheeks warmly.
Lailah smiled in earnest. She knew exactly how the goddess felt in that moment.
She gently pressed her forehead against Parvati’s and wiped her tears.
“All will be well now, my friend. No one is going to be taking our loved ones away now, or anytime soon.”
A rebuilding effort was taking place in the heavens.
Shortly after realizing that anything that could have been at the house was a dead end, Abaddon and his wives went to the new realm Valerie created with Straga.
There, an endless sea of spirits was waiting in limbo, in addition to the gods of all of the realms.
For some of them, Abaddon and his wives had to have hard conversations about those who had been lost.
Everyone expected Abaddon to do something. To start resurrecting dead gods out of the blue.
But he didn’t. He and Valerie just kept rebuilding the whole of humanity from memory.
He was currently working on Yesh’s throne room. The place he undoubtedly knew best.
After a while, the Ophanim were able to cut themselves out of Bekka’s dimension.
But with Asherah to calm them down, they no longer continued their attack on Abaddon. He could almost swear they were pouting about it.
In a strange twist of fate, Abaddon was rebuilding the podiums for the Ophanim to stand on. Their cracked faces were motionless and indecipherable.
The dragon finally finished rebuilding the last of the throne room and looked up at the Ophanim.
They still had yet to speak. Not even to say thank you.
“…I could have beaten all of you, you know?”
There was no response.
“You try me again, even Hephaestus won’t be able to glue you back together.”
Again, there was no response. But in Abaddon’s imagination, he pictured the stone angels shrinking back in fear.
It helped him feel better about the shitty day he’d had. If only a little bit.
“There you are.”
Asherah suddenly appeared in the throne room with her children at her back. The archangels were a bit dusty, but otherwise unharmed. Though the mother goddess did seem a bit less settled than normal.
“You’ve been moving around so much that it was difficult to keep up with you.”
Abaddon nodded. “The quicker I get everything fixed, the quicker I can put this whole horrible day behind me.”
Asherah approached him slowly. “Well, you’ve done a good job at it… I don’t think I can even tell the difference between-”
“I’m quitting, Asherah.”
His abrupt words surprised everyone in the room. Including himself.
The dragon unconsciously froze up as if he realized he’d said the wrong thing.
“…Sorry. I swear I didn’t mean to just blurt that out, I had this whole plan, and there was going to be tea and-”
“W-What do you mean, you’re quitting!?” Uriel was visibly upset. “If it’s about the exile, we received reports that Percival carried a knife into the colosseum, which technically makes him-”
“Technicalities don’t mean anything to me right now. Not this time around.”
Abaddon stepped back from the podium so that he could see his completed work. His eyes naturally drifted to the empty space where the third Ophanim used to be.
“I’ve endeavored for so long to get a better handle on my anger, but I’m still falling short. And as I grow stronger, it’s become less and less acceptable. I got baited today. I gave into my rage. Even when Lailah was trying to tell me I shouldn’t.”
Abaddon sighed.
He finally turned around to face the other people in the room, and his face was surprisingly neutral.
“I could have hurt the very people you asked me to help protect. Even if they are obnoxious little balls of sh…”
Abaddon realized he probably shouldn’t curse in heaven. He sighed and said a silent apology to the empty throne.
“Anyway… If it weren’t for my daughter, heaven would have lost significantly more than buildings today. It won’t be long till the gods start putting that together and looking at me questionably.”
“Oh, please.” Raphael waved his hand. “You’ve done good work over the years. Settled conflicts, kept things in line. They wouldn’t turn on you that fast. Besides, you know how gods are. There’s always something new to be upset about. Two weeks from now, they won’t even think about you.”
Abaddon shrugged, his mind completely unchanged.
“Be that as it may… I know that what’s right is right, regardless of whether or not it’s at the forefront of everyone’s mind. I should step down and-”
“Abaddon, no.” Asherah spoke with a firmness in her voice that wasn’t usually there. “You have always been the Judicator, a-and that is not going to change on my watch. You can’t just leave me to-”
Suddenly, Abaddon wrapped the blue goddess in a hug so tight that it lifted her off the floor. The mother goddess was stunned
“Even if I am not where I’ve always been, that doesn’t mean I won’t still be with you. I will always come to aid you, or any other god who needs help. Besides, I’d never leave you alone. I’ve already found you a great replacement.”
Suddenly, the floor underneath Abaddonn’s feet wormed and writhed, and a familiar man stepped out.
He was a tall dragon, slender and visibly chiseled, with pale white skin and hair, with sharp red eyes and claws.
His face was nothing short of deceptively beautiful. It was easy to mistake him for a woman, especially with the hair that fell all the way below his knees.
He wore a simple black kimono that left his chest exposed and a pair of hakama pants that looked a size too big.
“Our espionage unit has grown quite large, and we don’t really need it like we used to anymore, plus my son-in-law has been in ned of something to do, sooo…” Abaddon shrugged.
“This is his long-winded way of saying that he likes making me do the work he doesn’t feel like doing.” Zheng got to the point.
Abaddon looked offended. “Of course. Why else do I have sons-in-law if I can’t make them do things??”
Zheng was painfully unamused. “Yes, yes, it is no wonder you have so many of them… That’s sarcasm by the way, grandpa.”
“How dare you. I can’t help it if most of my daughters end up liking women. They have good taste.”
“Fair.”
As Asherah and her angels watched their back-and-forth, they were unsure of what to make of it.
Zheng wasn’t necessarily an unsuitable replacement for Abaddon. He wasn’t as strong, but he had an extensive intelligence network that spanned every realm in the heavenly and hellish domains.
If something ever went awry, he would likely know and be able to settle it quickly. And if a god were to step out of line, he could swiftly break their kneecaps and shove them back on the other side of it. All without leaving their shadow.
“Are you sure that this is what you both want…?” Asherah asked again.
Zheng started to speak, but Abaddon manifested a piece of tape over his mouth.
“Yeah. We’re good.” Abaddon smiled.
“…Okay, but what about-”
“He’s thrilled, I promise. He’s just going to pretend he’s not to make me seem like a bad father-in-law.”
Zheng finally removed the tape from his mouth. “Notice that I don’t have to try very hard?”
Zheng leaned over and whispered to the angels. “He beat on the other guy…”
“I did not!”
“There was blood everywhere. He made him cry.”
“Okay, now you’re really lying.”
“So you admit that I wasn’t before?”
“…Shit.”
“Checkmate.”
Asherah had no idea what to make of things going forward, but with Abaddon this outwardly hopeful, she couldn’t really find much more reason to refuse.
“Well then, Zheng… Will you accept the role offered to you on this day?”
Zheng nodded. “I will-”
*Pop!*
A stream of confetti arose from Zheng’s shadow, along with a series of clapping.
Looking down, they found Nubia and Adeline submerged halfway through the floor and looking as happy as they could be.
“Congratulations, babe!”
“I’m so proud of you!”
Zheng’s cheeks turned a barely visible shade of red.
Abaddon immediately snapped a picture and started texting it to the group chat.
“Hey!”
Abaddon looked at him with pitiful, hopeless eyes. “Do the guys a favor, Zheng. We really needed a laugh after the day we’ve all had.”
“…”
Even though he was unsure of this whole thing at first, Zheng was slowly becoming enamored with the idea of being out of the house more.
–
Back at home, things were still in disarray.
Almost everyone was packing and preparing to leave in just a few hours. Abaddon had decided that the plans for later couldn’t change, and they had to keep preparing.
But in the living room, the barrier still stood tall while everyone was off doing their own things.
It was guarded carefully by every available pet in the house. All of whom were in their fiercest state of mind.
If anything so much as moved within their line of sight, it was getting ripped to pieces.
Despite how on guard the pets were, they had difficulty resisting the sight of Yemaja and Behemoth approaching with two armfuls of treats and brushes…
Eagles lost, ravens suck… nobody talk to me I’m grieving my nfl football season.
