First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1104 - Capítulo 1104: A New Morning

Capítulo 1104: A New Morning
In all honesty, Bekka didn’t remember the confrontation Valerie was referring to at first.
And then, it was all she could think about.
She remembered that moment so clearly. It was one of the worst things she had ever done and she wished she could have taken it back.
“I-I wasn’t going to hurt you! I wouldn’t do something like that to you, I just.. didn’t want you to stand in my way when I…”
“When you ran rampant with our husband and Seras and were trying to destroy the very universe we were charged to protect?”
Bekka bit her lip. “I was hurting.”
“Why is that an excuse..? I was hurting just like you and my first instinct wasn’t to kill everything in my grief!”
“…I’m sorry. I don’t know what else you want me to say.” She lowered her head.
Valerie didn’t know either.
She just wanted to be upset, and rightfully so.
Eris finally spoke up to cool things down.
“It’s my fault… I should have told all of you what I was doing, that I was planning to come back but there just wasn’t time, and-”
“You can’t accept the blame for this, Eris. Regardless of what happens to you or anyone else, we have a responsibility not to drag the whole universe into our shit!!” Valerie screamed.
She seemed surprised at herself in the aftermath. Her breathing was labored and shaky.
She inhaled and exhaled until her world was no longer spinning in circles.
Valerie brought a hand over her eyes. Her voice was far more fragile than before.
“…I told our husband the same thing I’m telling you now. We have to care about everything as much as we care about each other. And if things go wrong, we can’t just… fly off the handle and nuke everything.
I know that our divinities are a part of who we are. I know it affects our instincts and makes us need different things at different times.
But if we can’t stuff down our baser urges for the betterment of everyone else around us then… how are we any better than humans..?”
Valerie was immensely disappointed in Bekka. Because she knew that she could have behaved differently if she had only put her mind to it.
In her mind, Bekka was a pillar of self-control. She held herself back from eating everything in sight, every single day. And she made it look easy.
You could say this was also one of the things she loved most about her. But earlier today, that level of self-control was nowhere to be seen.
Valerie felt that, for a moment, Bekka had treated her like someone who didn’t want the best for her. Or like an enemy.
And she didn’t know how to forget that. She didn’t know how to move beyond it.
Possibility was content to stay out of this entire marital debacle, but she had to admit that she was intrigued.
Despite containing all the collected knowledge of everything that had and would ever exist, she had never intensively studied it before.
With Life coming around to frequently tell her stories, she never really had to look for any forms of entertainment.
But now that she was watching an actual interaction between lesser beings, she realized that watching and listening were vastly different from firsthand experience.
She understood Valerie just as she understood Bekka.
They were in a harsh stalemate between ‘All life must be precious’ and ‘If I forget myself I will not know what it’s like to hurt’.
Possibility thought that these were both very mortal viewpoints. Valerie clearly wanted to steer her family into being a universal force of good.
Bekka seemed to want that too, at least on the surface. But when thrown into the depths of despair, she had shown a tendency to abandon her principles in favor of filling a hole in her heart.
Possibility thought that made her the most mortal one here. As funny as it sounded.
And as she looked around the room, she realized that all of the wives fell on one side of the aisle or another.
Some emphasized more with Bekka, while others were more in line with Valerie’s point of view.
However, they all understood how each of them felt.
But Valerie was still the most upset by far.
Bekka took a step forward and tried to reach for her.
Valerie backed away. Her trembling gaze was settled on Bekka’s black claws.
They had never bothered her before, but they did now. And Bekka had no idea how she was supposed to cope with that.
“…I’m not going to hurt you.” Her voice cracked.
Valerie didn’t respond.
“I just want to say I’m sorry again… will you let me do that?”
Valerie wrapped her arms around herself and looked away. She couldn’t meet eyes with Bekka. She was afraid to let her touch her.
Many times before, Valerie had been weak after a fight and succumbed back into a loving state with a simple touch.
She didn’t want that to happen this time. Everything she’d said was too important to her to just sweep it under the rug.
Her level of trust was at an all-time low. And even if she wanted to get back to normal, she couldn’t bring herself to take that first step.
It was up to Bekka to reach her. But the wolf queen was just as lost and panicked.
She could say a million things in this scenario, and maybe they would all be correct for some people in this situation.
But Valerie was a different kind of woman than most. Words didn’t move her, actions did.
But what kind of action could Bekka make to erase such a massive blunder as the one she had previously committed?
She wanted to cry. To tear her heart out and offer it to her in apology. But those things might not have meant anything.
There was a stark difference between desperation and sincerity. But Bekka wanted Valerie to see that she was desperately sincere.
She wanted Valerie not to be mad at her, just as much as she wanted to be someone whom she was proud to be married to.
Whatever it took to prove herself.
Possibility looked at Eris out of the corner of her eye.
It was hard to call her recognizable, given that her face was awash with tears and her teeth were clenched tightly enough to break them.
‘Do you think… I messed everything up by coming to you?’
Possibility had no answer. This was all new to her.
‘…There’s a chance.’
Eris knew that Possibility wasn’t trying to be a doom-and-gloom type of person. She was just giving her honest opinion about the current state of things.
And that was what made it all feel so much worse.
–
“Alright. We’ve been doing this for two weeks now and I’m sick of it. When your moms get back, they’re going to flay me alive when they find out what I’ve done. Make things easier on your dear old dad for once!”
“BWA!”
“YOU STUBBORN LITTLE…”
Abaddon slammed his head against the kitchen wall out of frustration.
After taking a few more moments to settle himself, he once again threw himself into a helpless endeavor.
He picked up a bright green plastic spoon once again and brought it up to K’ael’s lips.
“Come on, little man. You have to eat something… try some grits, you might like it.”
“FWA!” K’ael spat out a mouthful of flames.
If Abaddon hadn’t had such quick reflexes, the spoon would have burned up instantly.
“Now I’ve had about enough of this, young man. Your mom is the only one who gets to refuse to eat my grits and still live in this house. (Audrina) I’m not raising boujee ass, picky ass children, so we’re going to have to figure this out.”
Abaddon turned away from K’ael’s high chair for a few seconds and came back with three ingredients.
“Do you want me to fix them up a bit? What do you feel like- cheese? More salt? Lots of pepper? I’m not big on it myself, but I can do some eggs if you want it.”
“Da!” K’ael pointed to the counter behind his father.
There, a bag of sugar had been pulled down from the cabinets and sat next to a cup of coffee Abaddon had prepared for himself.
He turned back to his son, completely horrified.
“…You’re out of your rabbit-ass mind. I refuse.”
“Bwa?!”
“Sugar doesn’t go in grits, K’ael! It’s an abomination and not how you were raised!”
Abaddon clutched his chest tightly and made a pained expression. “I never thought your mother could have cheated on me until now. You can’t be my son.”
K’ael looked completely unamused.
“You southern boys are so dramatic..”
Abaddon looked to the kitchen counter, where Nyx was sitting with Odie in her lap. The young girl wouldn’t touch her bowl either, so Nyx had stopped trying to feed her.
“My son acts the same way you know? My granddaughter called a soda ‘pop’ and he almost had an aneurysm.”
“Malachi has good sense.”
Nyx rolled her eyes.
“I don’t get what the big deal is. You’ve been feeding them toaster waffles every day for two weeks so might as well keep at it.” She shrugged.
“Lisa hates when we feed the kids like that.” Abaddon reminded. “I only did it because I wanted to spoil them a bit, but now it’s time to get back to routine.”
“And how’s that working out for you?”
“You know I can throw you in the basement too if you like?”
Nyx decided to be quiet then and there and let the grumpy dragon be grumpy.
Frustrated, Abaddon folded his arms as he stared at his son. Almost like he was trying to peer into his brain.
In turn, K’ael stared right back.
“…You know when I was a kid, if I didn’t eat what my parents put in front of me, then I didn’t eat at all.”
“….”
Abaddon’s brow furrowed further.
“… We’ll do biscuits and gravy, but you have to eat the fruit on your plate first.”
K’ael’s eyes lit up and he nodded so hard that he shook his entire chair.
“Thought so… little bread maniac.” Abaddon grumbled.
“Was that so hard?” Nyx grinned.
“Thank you for volunteering to help.”
“Oh, honey, do I look like I’m going to be cooking anything with these nails?” Nyx held up her hand.
Suddenly, a pair of oven mitts was manifested over her hands.
“Yes.”
“You’re such a bastard.”
Despite her complaining, Nyx did get up to start helping.
Abaddon leaned down in front of Odie’s chair and started to ask her what she wanted to eat, when suddenly movement from down the hall caught his eye.
For a moment, he almost forgot who he was.
“…Thea?”
A figure stepped into the light, and Abaddon and Nyx gasped in unison.
“Not quite… I hope you’re not disappointed by me though.”
