First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1112 - Capítulo 1112: Life is Depressed

Capítulo 1112: Life is Depressed
Abaddon opened the door to his bedroom.
The way Ayaana had designed the space paid homage to their old bedroom while giving it a more modern, brighter feel.
The northmost facing wall was a glass window that gave Abaddon and the girls a perfect view out into the shining city.
It was usually quite bright in here during the day. But even though night had already fallen, it was now quite dark and depressing.
Abaddon’s eyes moved to his bed.
It was an enormous, circular mattress surrounded by thin silk curtains that hung from the ceiling.
Abaddon could vaguely make out a familiar silhouette behind the fabric. He saw her look towards him.
“You’ve been in bed ever since earlier… Nyx agreed to watch the kids so we can go out.”
Abaddon poked his head inside the curtains. Zahara stared back at him from a coiled position.
Like Ayaana, she appeared as a serpentine dragon with enormous wings. The only difference was that her wings were almost entirely made of feathers and all of her scales were deep gold.
She lifted her head up for just a second to stare out the window with an expression he couldn’t read.
“…I don’t think I really feel like going anymore. Maybe another night or something.”
Ordinarily, Abaddon would have been happy to hear he didn’t have to do something so far outside of his comfort zone. Just not today.
He climbed inside of the bed with Zahara and held her large face in his hands.
“You’ve been in here since earlier, and you’re not even interested in our plans anymore. I hope you can see why something like that worries me tremendously.”
Abaddon was only pretending that he didn’t smell alcohol in the room. Or coming out of her pores.
“No need to be worried. I just changed my mind, people do it all the time.”
“You don’t.”
“You’ve only known me for four days.”
“Three of those days you pestered me relentlessly until I gave you one of my good cigars.”
“You were being stingy…”
“I knew you wouldn’t like it. You immediately choked on the smoke and got ash all over your robe.”
“I’m glad I got to try it at least…”
Abaddon brought his forehead closer to Zahara’s snout and stared deeply into her eyes.
“I’ve been trying to ignore the pattern that led up to this scenario, but… You haven’t really seemed like yourself since you left Lilith earlier.”
Zahara changed back into human form so that she could more effectively bury herself beneath a sea of covers.
She opened her eyes underneath the blankets and found a miniature Abaddon standing just in front of her nose.
“I hope you know I can’t accept that for an answer.”
Zahara did. She just hoped that maybe this time she was wrong.
She gave Abaddon a small poke to his torso. “It’s nothing to be concerned about. Just a lapse in judgment on my part is all.”
“That’s totally not vague at all… do you mind-”
“Wanna watch ASMR videos with me?” Zahara held up her phone.
“No. I want to go out like we talked about.”
Abaddon grew to his full size and lifted Zahara into his arms.
He stepped off the bed and started to bring her towards her closet.
*Poof!*
Abaddon looked down at his now-empty arms.
Turning around, he found Zahara back in the exact same position he had just tried to get her out of.
She smiled at him coquettishly and patted the empty space beside her.
“…”
Abaddon tried six more times to pick her up before he inevitably gave in.
“Fine, fine…” Abaddon started to pull off his hoodie and sweatpants so that he could crawl into bed.
“K-Keep your clothes on..!” Zahara suddenly blurted.
Abaddon almost tripped over nothing.
No one he had ever met, let alone a woman, had ever told him to keep his clothes on.
If he wasn’t worried about Zahara before, he most certainly was now.
“I-I just like the way that one feels!” She clarified.
Abaddon looked down at himself.
“…Well how about I just give it to you then?”
Zahara seemed to find that acceptable.
With her husband’s clothes wrapped around her, she blushed slightly as he got into bed with her.
As Abaddon rested his head on the pillow, he was surprised when Zahara didn’t immediately crawl underneath him.
Instead, she grabbed his hand underneath the covers.
It was nice, just not what he was used to.
“…How much more should I let you worry me before I just start reading your mind?”
Zahara didn’t answer and smiled bashfully.
She pressed play on the video on her phone and let it hover above their heads.
“…What are we watching?”
“It’s a medical exam.”
“Is that woman a real doctor?”
“No.”
“So she’s performing without a license?”
“She’s not really a doctor.”
“So the patient is..?”
“Not a real patient.”
“….Right. Why are we watching this?”
“It’s relaxing. Helps me fall asleep.”
Abaddon failed to see how this helped his wife fall asleep in any shape or form.
–
“Zzzx…”
Zahara turned her head and stared at her husband.
The man had nodded off at around the midway point of the first video. Zahara was already on the second video.
Her eyelids were heavy, but she still couldn’t sleep at all.
Zahara thought she should get up and at least find the motivation to bathe. Or maybe even just wash her face.
Granted, she could do any of those things without moving a muscle, but with her current mental state that was probably the very worst thing for her to try to do.
She turned over and stared at her sleeping husband’s face.
Her eyes scanned over all of his angelic features.
She lifted her hand to his face and ran her thumb over his cheek affectionately. Her eyes were warm and full of sentiment.
‘You are… a very good man.’
Begrudgingly, Zahara lifted herself out of bed and walked to the bathroom. She didn’t bother turning on the light.
She walked over to the sink and turned on the water. Instead of using it in any meaningful sort of way, Zahara found herself just staring at the running water.
The sound of the liquid splashing into the sink was painfully ordinary. And yet, Zahara could swear she heard terrible echoes.
“Hey there, gorgeous~”
Zahara jumped as two hands suddenly grabbed her butt from behind.
The bathroom lights were suddenly flicked on.
Ayaana started to giggle when she saw how shaken up Zahara was by her surprise.
“Did I scare you..? I’m sorry, I could have sworn that you heard me come in.”
Zahara’s chest was rising and falling fast. Her cheeks were flushed and even her hands had a barely noticeable tremor.
“I’m fine, dear… probably just being too sensitive is all.”
Ayaana didn’t buy it. But she at least played along.
“So, I guess we’re not going out tonight. I asked the girls for two extra hours for nothing.”
Zahara rubbed the back of her neck, dropping her gaze to the floor.
“Yeah, sorry, I’m just… kind of not in the mood anymore. I just kind of wanted to lie in bed and try to get some sleep. The day felt longer than I expected it to.”
“…Is this about what happened with the demon queens? What you did for them?”
Zahara wouldn’t answer. Though that was enough confirmation on its own.
“Why is it affecting you so much?”
Zahara twirled her thumbs anxiously. “My powers… don’t work like I thought they did. I wasn’t prepared.”
A tightness settled in Ayaana’s chest.
“You didn’t wipe their memories. You took their grief.”
“I wasn’t just going to leave them like that. No matter whether those women are demons or not, they needed my help.”
“Yes, but now look at what you have done to yourself! Their anxiety and dread have become your own!”
“Only because I wasn’t prepared!” Zahara insisted. “I really thought that Life’s authority would be easier to handle but I just haven’t used it enough.”
“You want to use her power more after this??”
“Life isn’t all bad, love. It’s the pinnacle of duality. I just need to absorb some happy thoughts in the future to balance out the bad, and in the future, when I absorb negativity I won’t be so affected… this time, since I had no tolerance and those women went through something particularly traumatic, I wasn’t prepared.”
Ayaana knew all about inconvenient powers. She had her own.
She lowered her head as a migraine threatened to pry open her godly cerebellum.
“I really wish you had tried another way.”
“Those women didn’t deserve what happened to them. I couldn’t stand to sit by, knowing they were suffering and I had the power to help them.” If she had the choice, Zahara would do it all over again.
“But now you-”
“I told you, it won’t last forever! You don’t need to be worried about me, I just need some sleep, a drink, and then we can go out tomorrow and I can get some new experiences.”
Ayaana nodded her head. “…What about Abaddon?”
Zahara stiffened slightly. “…What about him?”
“An experience like that doesn’t happen without leaving some scratches. Lilith couldn’t even listen to Gulban’s voice.”
“…I love him.”
“I know you do. But are you also afraid of him?”
Zahara bit her lip and turned away. Ayaana felt that was enough of an answer.
On the other side of the bathroom door, Abaddon was listening quietly- his eyes unreadable and deeply reflective.
been playing the new Pokemon game for a few days now and honestly…. I kinda want my money back.
