Capítulo 1113: The Benefits of the Soft and Fluffy
Zahara finally opened the bathroom door with Ayaana trailing close behind her.
It was clear that the goddess had been crying. Her eyes were puffy and she even had a slight sniffle.
Ayaana seemed like she was also on the verge of collapse, though she was holding herself together because it wouldn’t do for the both of them to be upset.
But in her mind, Ayaana was spiraling like no other.
As a logical person, she struggled with things going in unexpected directions.
Her marriage, something very important to her, was already facing a major hurdle.
They had only just gotten together! What did it say about their potential for longevity in their relationship if they were already having a problem!?
Ordinarily, Ayaana would summon all of her strength, punch their partners in the back of the head, and tell them to behave.
But they weren’t necessarily misbehaving now, so she was completely out of ideas!
Keeping herself from crying took priority. She couldn’t support Zahara properly if she were also sniffling and bawling.
The two were in the bathroom for a whole thirty minutes before they made their exit.
When they passed the threshold, they ran into a large, furry Behemoth.
Not Camazotz, of course. The large bat was still sulking around the house waiting for Mira to return.
No, what the girls found waiting for them was an enormous eight-foot teddy-bear.
Zahara didn’t know whether to be confused or just plain terrified.
“Umm… honey? Are you inside of that thing?” She poked him in the stomach.
“Yep.”
Abaddon waved in a very non-threatening manner.
Ayaana stared at him suspiciously. “…Were you watching that movie about the talking teddy bear again?”
“No! ….But can we-”
“”No!””
“Tsk.”
Ayaana and Zahara had different tastes in movies than their husband.
It was really easy to tell who was interested and who wasn’t by which of them initiated heavy petting first.
“Why are you inside that thing exactly..?”
Abaddon scratched his cheek in embarrassment.
“I thought it might be less scary for you…I considered just changing forms, but I didn’t know if ten heads and sharp teeth would be all that comforting…” His words slowly trailed off as a thought occurred to him. “Well, now that I think about it, I could have appeared animated…”
Abaddon had to admit it to himself. He just wanted to try this first because he thought it would be funny.
Zahara blinked at him.
Her eyes slowly filled with water as a helpless, amused smile formed on her face.
“Oh, honey… You didn’t have to do this.”
Abaddon shrugged.
“It’s not a big deal… this is what husbands do, no?”
Zahara suddenly grabbed one of his fluffy arms and brought it to her face. “You’re not upset that I… y’know…?”
“I can’t be upset with you for helping people.” Abaddon shook his head. “So, because I’m absolutely sure you’re going to try to do something like this again, I wanted to learn how best to meet you where you’re at.”
An enormous weight left Zahara’s chest in an instant. She felt so relieved she could fall back onto her butt and drift into the void.
Zahara threw herself into Abaddon, but because he was mostly stuffing, it was easy for her to knock him down.
She felt herself press something hard within his chest and an electronic voice came out.
*I love you!*
Zahara lifted her head. “What was that?”
“Nothing!” Abaddon answered too quickly for it to be believable.
Zahara pressed his chest again. An excerpt from an old Project Pat song played.
*Good-googly moogely, that thang is juicy.*
“…Is the button in your chest just programmed to say the phrases that pop up in your brain every day?”
“No.” He lied.
Zahara pushed it again.
The voice of one Nicky Lou Saban came out, giving one of his infamous fiery speeches.
*Do your job! Do your job!*
Zahara pushed the button a third time.
*I want to have sex…*
Zahara tried to press the button again, but Abaddon raised his arms to stop her.
“A-Alright, I think that’s enough now!”
Ayaana reminded both of them that she was still here and reached down to press the fist-sized button three times in a row.
*Fuck Vanderbilt.*
*I’ll eat her ass…*
*Darius is the smartest dumb dragon I have ever seen…*
“Okay, I can see this was a bad idea!”
There was a puff of smoke and Abaddon’s furry form vanished in favor of his scaly one.
Ayaana and Zahara were too busy on the floor mocking him while they died of laughter.
Abaddon was around twenty feet in length currently.
It was easy for him to pick up the girls by their ankles and hold them in the air with his tail.
“Oh, are we back to being scary now?” Zahara cackled.
“I can eat you, you know that?”
“Yes, honey, you made your desire to do that very clear.”
Zahara suddenly kissed her husband’s snout without hesitation.
She almost looked like she was back to her usual self. Her eyes were bright and full of so much sentiment that it was almost tangible.
“I mean it. Thank you.”
The way Zahara was looking at Abaddon made him nervous for any number of reasons. Sometimes, his wives were good at making sure he felt like a young boy with no worldly experience at all.
“There’s nothing for you to thank me for… I would do anything for you.”
Abaddon slowly turned his head towards Ayaana.
“All of you.”
A warm feeling spread through Ayaana’s heart.
She found it intriguing just how quickly her anxiety was assuaged by this man.
When she was born, she was born with immense confidence in her mind. Her thoughts and calculations were as great a strength as her beauty.
Only now did she come to the realization that her calculations would not always be correct. Even she could still be surprised.
Something about that terrified Possibility inside her. But it also left her seeking more of a thrill.
What would her husband do next? How would he make her fall deeper in love with him? During the next time they shared intimacy, would it feel different in light of all they had been through?
She was so excited by the prospects.
“Still don’t feel like going out?” Abaddon suddenly asked.
Zahara smiled nervously as she looked down.
“Maybe not to a club, but there is something I’d like to try. Just to get out, you know?”
“Not a club?”
“Not a club.” She confirmed.
Abaddon put her down, and he was surprised when she suddenly walked towards the TV.
Turning it on, she placed her hand over the screen.
The surface rippled slightly, causing Abaddon and Ayaana’s brows to raise.
“You both remember that drama I had us watching on Netflix?”
“No.” Abaddon answered.
Beside him, Ayaana’s eyes twinkled like stars. “The Wine Wives??”
“Of course! I remember we still have an episode left, so… why don’t we go and watch the finale in real time?”
All ten of Abaddon’s jaws dropped at once.
“…You can do that?”
Zahara smiled coquettishly while sticking her leg inside the TV.
“Come and find out.”
–
“….We seriously need to go out and figure out our new powers.”
“”Shhh!!”” Ayaana and Zahara said impatiently.
“Are you guys serious?”
“”SHHH!!!””
Abaddon couldn’t believe what he was watching.
This show was basically about a group of rich, southern wives who go on a five-day cabin trip. They drink lots of wine, decide to cheat on their husbands with local high school boys and each other, and then one of them gets murdered.
Zahara liked the show because she enjoyed the drama. Ayaana liked that the show made it difficult to tell who the killer was. It made it easier for her to feel the suspense.
Abaddon just… didn’t find any of it interesting at all.
He was more baffled by the fact that Zahara had somehow put them inside a television show.
Not on a Hollywood set with a camera crew and sweaty interns. But a very real place.
Abaddon was pretty sure that if he got a map out he could actually find this place in Mississippi. Maybe the cabin was even on Zillow.
And Zahara had done it so effortlessly.
Granted, things like this could be done by powerful enough beings. But usually, they were creating copies of characters based on information they retained from watching the show.
They were like paintings come to life.
But Zahara had actually brought these people and their realm into reality, with their television acting as the doorway.
That meant the characters were displaying traits they had never displayed in the show before.
Things such as rather distributing addictions to everything from pills to cheese and crackers.
It was extraordinary.
This was the first time perhaps that Abaddon realized his wives’ control over his powers was much greater than his own.
He was proud, but also curious about why.
“Girls, I really think we should-”
“”SHHH!!!””
The girls threw popcorn at him and hissed.
Abaddon finally decided to stop talking until someone got arrested.
They continued to float in the air, invisible to the six women and their boy toys until the women finally split apart again.
Unfortunately for Abaddon, even when separated, his wives still wanted to finish the show.
“…Could someone pass the popcorn at least?”
Bekka burped audibly.
“Never mind.”
Y’all they are closing down all of the Winn-Dixies in Alabama it’s like they hit the twin towers all over again
