First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1144: My Life, My Children

Chapter 1144: My Life, My Children
Abaddon drove out of necessity.
Sometimes, when mentoring kids, they don’t come from the best home environments.
There were occasions when, after practice, Abaddon and the other coaches would have to take kids home whose parents didn’t show. Not because they weren’t able, but because they either weren’t sober or couldn’t be bothered.
At least five kids on the team had parents like that. A small amount, all things considered.
Abaddon took those kids home after practice most days. He stopped at a restaurant and got them all food, and even took them to get groceries if they asked.
Sometimes, the kids cried. Football was literally all they had, and their one opportunity to make splendid money and get themselves out of poverty.
That was what everyone around them told them. Abaddon hated to hear someone say that nonsense. It pressured the children and robbed them of a pure love for the game.
Abaddon loved football a lot. It was his favorite pastime.
But it would never, in any circumstance, be the end-all, be-all for success. He would make sure that even if these kids didn’t make it to the league, they could still go after any job field that they wanted.
That was the whole reason why, to play on his team, a GPA of 3.5 was required, instead of the usual state mandate of 2.0.
Parents could get mad and complain all they wanted, but they were the two-time reigning state champions. Plenty of other parents would move cities to get their kids zoned for their school and eligible to join the program.
Abaddon was doing good work. He was shaping the lives of young men in a way that they would remember for the rest of their lives.
But he knew he could do more.
When Abaddon first came to earth, he had made a vow that he wouldn’t use his powers to fix the less-than-desirable parts of humans’ personalities.
He would only use his money to make them better from the shadows.
But sometimes, he wished that he weren’t so principled. It would certainly be easier for him and everyone else around him.
Abaddon parked in the garage and sighed as he closed the door.
As soon as he entered, he found his young shinobi standing there to greet him, along with a blue and white skinned goddess.
“You’ve returned, father. Welcome.” K’ael bowed deeply with his arms folded within his sleeves.
Abaddon picked his son up by one of his horns and shook him.
“What have I told you about all of this formal stuff..? I know you like to follow your mother’s traditions, but they really put your old man in a bind…”
K’ael showed no reaction to being shaken. “It is not my intention to trouble you, Father. I’ll try to behave a bit more loosely in the future.”
“Sure you will, my little Naruto rip off.”
K’ael was formal, but he was not unfeeling. He laughed at his father’s jokes and looked upon him with great fondness.
Abaddon hugged his son tightly after putting him down.
“Thank you for coming to get your sister. Did you two have a chance to talk?”
K’ael paused for a moment before answering. “We… listened to music. I admit I did not have much to say.”
Abaddon sighed as he brought his hand to his head. “You’re going to keep picking your sister up until you know every one of her classmates’ names by heart.”
“How would I ever know that?”
“You know your sister.” Abaddon shrugged. “Just because she can’t talk doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a lot to say.”
Abaddon stepped past his son and embraced the two women waiting for him silently.
He wrapped both of them in each of his arms and held them so tightly that he could have crushed them.
He took a deep inhale of their combined scents and felt the woes of the day leaving him.
“H-Hey, don’t sniff us..! We’re covered in sweat right now…!” Sif blushed.
Abaddon ignored her and buried his face in her neck. “I know, that’s kind of what’s nice about it, if I’m honest…”
“Can you not say embarrassing shit like that in front of our baby boy!?”
“I have learned to live with the debauchery of my parents by telling myself that it is based upon an equal love and respect for each other. I truly believe that is the only way I can prevent myself from retching every time I listen to you speak.” K’ael said plainly.
“See, honey, he said he’s fine with it.”
“That is absolutely not what I just said.”
Seras took her husband’s face in her hand and kissed it. “Long day?”
“…A little less so now. But I just have to take it in stride.” Abaddon sighed.
“Did something happen?” Sif asked in concern.
“Where do I begin..? For starters, Michael…”
Abaddon’s face suddenly twitched.
Sif and Seras were both naturally concerned when the last word they heard had something to do with Michael.
They shook their husband like a stripper’s ass on a Friday night.
“What!? What about Michael!?”
“Odie didn’t see him, did she!? Is that why she was acting weird when she came home!?”
Abaddon suddenly snapped out of his state of delerium and he was even more frantic than his wives.
“Get to the basement! Now!”
Sif furrowed her brow. “You mean the wine cellar? What does that have to do with-”
“Not here, home!” Abaddon corrected.
Finally, it dawned on the wives just why their husband had become so excitable.
And once they realized what was going on, they literally could not leave fast enough.
– Tehom
There wasn’t a day that Abaddon hadn’t thought about this gate over the last fourteen years.
He dreamed about it. Fantasized about what it would be like when he finally heard the call.
And now that the moment was here, he couldn’t stop his hands from trembling.
He wrenched open the heavy wooden gates with a thought. A pillar of bright purple light burst out of the dark realm and an ocean of dark creatures rushed out with it.
Great, terrible winged creatures that could have plundered any universe all on their own in no more than a day.
The sight of them brought tears to Abaddon’s eyes. Just as it did for the wives who stood beside him.
However, their eyes continued to scan the millions of dragons that poured out of the dark for the very special view that they held closest to their hearts.
But they were the ones who were spotted first.
And a virtual shooting star burst out of the darkness to tackle Abaddon head-on.
As he felt the embrace of his child warm his skin, he let a silent tear fall from his cheek.
Abaddon crumpled to his knees as he held on to her. He was painfully aware of the difference in her just with a touch alone.
He knew right away just how much she had been through, and just how much time had passed for her.
He was beside himself with a feeling of catharsis so tremendous it swept him away in a dream.
When he opened his eyes again, he was holding her as she was when she was a child. Messy-haired and full of mischief. The bond beneath them cemented so deeply that even an uncountable amount of time hadn’t caused it to fade.
“It’s okay, Dad… I’m back.”
