First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1152: Health Scares

Chapter 1152: Health Scares
Lailah felt her body heat up.
Everything about her was so uncomfortably warm that she couldn’t stand it.
She felt like crying. She was pretty sure she already was.
Agony consumed her. Visions flashed by in her mind too fast for her to see.
However, that didn’t mean she couldn’t feel the death breathing down her neck.
Something… terrible was on it’s way.
–
Lailah screamed as she sat up.
“Honey, honey, it’s alright! It’s me!”
Lailah slowly stopped her screaming as she got a better grasp of her surroundings and realized where she was.
Her husband held on to her hand firmly as he stared into her eyes with a worried look.
“You’re safe. You’re at home. Nothing and no one is capable of hurting you.”
Lailah swallowed as she brought her shaky hand towards her chest.
She looked down and realized that her nude body was submerged in ice water.
“W-Why am I in the bath..?”
“Your body temperature was really high, love.”
“How high?”
“High enough for you to iron our sheets with your butt. I’ll make sure I have oven mitts on next time I grab it.”
Lailah laughed halfheartedly. “If I wasn’t cold and wet, that might be funny.”
Abaddon lifted Lailah out of the water and wrapped her in a towel.
As he dried her off, Lailah recalled her last moments of consciousness.
Her beautiful face showed traces of embarrassment.
“Please tell me I didn’t mess up the-”
“You better not mention that stupid game right now. Nothing could be further from my mind at the moment… Actually, that’s not quite true.”
“?”
Abaddon carried Lailah out of the bathroom and back into their bedroom.
Sitting on the sofa was a stack of papers as tall as a phone book.
“What’s all this..?”
*A-Ahem* “Letters from the boys on team… when you and Eris went down they saw me run towards you and… yeah.”
Lailah would be lying if she said she wasn’t surprised. It wasn’t a secret that Abaddon was married to multiple women, but none of them had ever made much of an appearance around the school.
With their days split awkwardly, it would be difficult to explain why sometimes they were around and other times they weren’t.
Lailah held out her hand and a card came floating into her palm.
She unfolded the white sheet and read aloud.
“Get well soon Mrs. Williams. I hope to meet you soon. Signed; B-Dubb. P.S. You da man, coach.”
Lailah turned to stare at her husband.
“…I swear their dumbasses will be running until their toes fall off.” Abaddon promised.
His wife laughed beautifully as she put the letter down.
“No need for that, I appreciate the thought. They’re sweet boys.” Lailah smiled.
“Who’s sweet..?” A voice said.
Suddenly, Eris rose from the bed while holding her temple with one hand.
“Certainly not this migraine I’m dealing with…”
Abaddon placed Lailah on the bed and she proceeded to crawl towards Eris.
Lailah wrapped her wife’s head in her hands and brought it towards her chest.
“…Why are you naked and cold?”
“For the same reason you are waking up with a migraine, I suppose.”
Lailah turned to their husband with a hurt expression on her face.
“Can you tell us what exactly is going on..?”
Abaddon wasn’t sure where to begin.
“After the game, you two, Sabine, Nubia, and Gaia collapsed. Gaia got the worst of it. As far as what caused all of you to faint… we can’t tell. But we believe it has something to do with Yggdrasil. It’s like she’s… missing.”
“What do you mean by missing??” Eris leaned forward.
“The tree is right where it’s always been, but…her soul isn’t in it. We all heard a scream before everything went to hell. Our working theory is that someone did something to her. We just can’t figure out who. Lillian believes her to be dead inside.”
Lailah narrowed her eyes at her husband.
“What else aren’t you telling us..?”
Abaddon wasn’t trying to keep things from his wives intentionally. Rather, he was trying to keep himself from getting angry by remembering certain things.
“There was…” Abaddon took a moment to compose himself. “Urine found in the pool Yesh was recovering in. But he himself was unharmed.
Bekka, Mira, and Kanami took turns trying to get what they could to track it, but there wasn’t much they could find. At least they have the scent now, so if that individual pops up again we’ll know.”
Abaddon was trying to make himself feel better about the situation, but he’d be hard-pressed to say it was working.
He didn’t like having nothing to act on.
The only people even remotely powerful enough to even bother Yggdrasil went to bed with him every night.
The only other outlier, Lucifer, would never dare to desecrate his father’s resting place like that. Not to mention, his scent didn’t fit the one the girls found.
Abaddon was aware of but one possible outlier. But she hadn’t reared her head for some time now on account of this new great threat that was supposedly heading their way.
Abaddon had no way to confirm her involvement. And it burned him up inside as nothing else could.
The bedroom door came flying open abruptly and a sea of women poured in.
“My lovess!! My babies!! My hearts!!”
Bekka flung herself at both women and wrapped them in her muscular arms.
“B-Babe… headache..” Eris said gently.
“You have no idea how freaked out I was! I swear, I’ll never take either of you for granted ever again and I promise I won’t eat in the bed for at least a month-”
Valerie pressed one of Bekka’s pressure points and put her to sleep instantly.
As the wolf girl slumped over onto the bed, Valerie smiled at her two weary wives.
“You two look tired… want a drink?”
Lailah started to ask what time it was, but decided that it was best not to ask to maintain plausible deniability.
“Make it as strong as you possibly can.”
–
Yemaya and Yemaja were sitting on the living room sofa.
They were stuck in complete silence as they stared at Lilith who was sitting opposite them and painting her nails.
“Something you want to say, sweeties?” She finally said.
“Why are you still here?” Yemaya asked politely.
“You’re ruining the atmosphere, bitch.” Yemaja was much less polite.
The demoness clicked her teeth while she switched to her toes.
“Now that’s not very nice. I’m basically getting asylum here, you know?”
“Yeah, but it’s the fact you’re still here when we know your abuser is no longer around. You could at least get an apartment.”
“Aww… but then I’d never get to bond with the cutest little family in the world. Odie is such a peach.”
Out of thin air, Gabbrielle appeared in her child-like form and she was clearly displeased.
“Wrong. I am the Peach around here.”
Lilith blinked slowly. “…Yes you are, cutie.”
Somehow, Gabbrielle seemed a little bit less intense than before.
“Yemy!”
Suddenly, Nubia came rushing into the living room frantically. Yemaya was instantly worried.
“I-I only drank one of your smoothies because I thought you wouldn’t miss it, okay?! I’m sorry!”
“That’s not- god damnit, you greedy bitch.” Nubia accidentally let her inner thoughts slip out.
“We’ll deal with that later. Right now I need your help, so come with me.”
Yemaya instantly stood up, always happy to lend a hand. “Okay! What are we doing??”
“Bringing Yggy back from the dead.”
“….Pardon?”
