First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1204: You Can’t Live Like This

Chapter 1204: You Can’t Live Like This
“Don’t be like that.” Thrudd wrapped her arm around her sister. “Just because we’re running into a minor inconvenience doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a good idea for you to come out with us.”
Apollo seemed to have his pride wounded at being referred to as a minor inconvenience. A bit of his radiant aura diminished at the insult.
“I would painfully disagree.” Courtney denied.
“My lady. Do you truly find me so unpleasant?” Apollo’s voice was as sweet as honey. As dizzying as white wine.
That is, to anyone but Courtney.
“Yes.”
“…Ah. I see.”
Thrudd smiled politely. “Sorry, just give us one second…”
She pulled her sister away to have a very private conversation.
’Dude, what gives?! You mope around in bed all day about how you want someone to touch you where you pee, but now this very attractive cod shows up, flowers in hand, and you act like the idea of his penis makes you sick!’
’It does! I can’t have standards?!’
’Not right now, no! Right now, all you should be worried about is-’
’I’m going to ask you not to finish that sentence.’ Courtney held up her hand. ’If you like it so much, then why don’t you go try it!’
’I’m too much woman for him, he wouldn’t know what to do with me.’ Thrudd flipped her hair back confidently.
Courtney could only stare at her sister’s muscles and abs. They were even larger and more well-defined than Apollo’s.
’…Okay, fair.’
Thrudd gave her sister a more gentle nudge. ’I’m not trying to push you, but you’re making it hard for me to wrap my head around you here.’
Courtney sighed. She hated to admit it, but maybe her sister was right.
As much as she wanted it to happen, Aj wasn’t coming back. He had a wife now. A child, even.
He had already moved on, so maybe it was time that she did the same.
“…Fuck.” She sighed.
Courtney turned around and walked over to Apollo while rubbing her neck.
Now that she looked at him a little closer, he was at least a little handsome.
He wouldn’t exactly have been her first choice.. but maybe he wasn’t that bad of an alternative either.
Courtney’s eyes darted around as she tried to figure out what to say to make the situation feel less awkward.
While in the middle of buying time, Courtney’s eyes naturally drifted over to Apollo’s golden chariot.
There, sitting on his seat was another bouquet where the first had been.
“…What is that?”
Apollo looked back.
“Oh… that. I intended to make the offering to the youngest daughters of the dragon. I did not wish to insult you by favoring one over the other.”
Courtney’s face immediately tightened. Subsequently, Thrudd covered her face with her hand and turned around.
Apollo began to look a little bit nervous.
“… I did not mean to-”
*Crack!*
When Courtney and Thrudd got back in the car, Odessa poked her head between the seats and swiveled her gaze between them both. ’What happened? Were you guys roleplaying?? Why were you fighting empty air??’
Thrudd ruffled her sister’s hair cutely. “Don’t worry about it, kid. Just know your sisters are always going to stand up for your innocence.”
Odie hadn’t the foggiest idea what that was supposed to mean.
She looked down at Courtney’s knuckles and found them covered with a strange, golden liquid. To her, it almost looked like paint mixed with glitter mixed in…
’…Okay then.’ Odessa decided to sit back in her seat and stop asking questions.
After wiping off her knuckles, Courtney grabbed Thrudd’s phone out of the cup holder.
“Ummm, can I help you with something?”
“Yeah, give me your password.”
“…696969.”
Courtney’s jaw went slack. “…You’re joking.”
“L-Look, don’t judge me, I needed something easy to remember!”
Courtney could only shake her head.
“I can feel you judging me!”
“Good.”
The car engine hummed to life as Thrudd began the drive once again.
“What do you want with my phone anyway..? A-And stay out of my camera roll, there’s-”
“Look. This isn’t my first day as a member of this family. I learned not to go through anyone’s photos on my twelfth birthday.”
Instead, Courtney went to her sister’s contacts. She scrolled through the numbers of their family members and found the one she was looking for.
“What do you want with Fiona’s number…?”
“I’m gonna ask her to tell me where to find Aj. I’m getting my man back even if I have to be a homewrecker.”
In any other situation, it would have been Thrudd’s role to dissuade her sister from making such an obviously reckless decision.
But the sisters were nevi’im, not human.
Thrudd had been waiting for her sister to make this kind of decision all along.
“I’m so proud of youuuu!!” She squealed as she rubbed her cheek against her sister’s.
Judging by the subtle smirk on her face, Courtney was quite happy with her decision as well.
As the girls resumed their course towards the mall, Odessa once again poked her head through the front seats.
’Guys, guys, guys! Look at this!’ Odie shoved her phone into the girls’ faces and showed them a post on Facebook.
’Isn’t this…?’
Courtney and Thrudd looked to each other, their eyes wide from shock.
“”…We have to go home.””
–
Abaddon reappeared in his room with only a short time discrepancy.
He hoped that when he came back, he would have time to get in the shower to hide the signs of his guilt.
His wish, however, remained unfulfilled, as he met the gaze of three of his wives.
Bekka, Tatiana, and Erica seemed to have been in the middle of a conversation when he arrived.
Their words came to a swift halt, and they stared at him in a silent shock.
A foreign, strange-colored blood covered his knuckles and chest.
He dropped his gaze, unable to properly face the women he loved, and unable to say anything to them.
He retreated into the bathroom and closed the door.
Switching on the faucet, he made the water as hot as possible and washed his hands of their cruelty.
It wasn’t long before he felt a silent hand on his back.
“…I’m fine.” He lied.
He heard the water in the shower turn on even though he hadn’t done anything.
“…Really. I just needed to let off some steam for a bit.” He said.
Again, he received no answer.
Instead, he was helped to undress, and a bath cloth was draped over his horns.
Abaddon unconsciously bit his lip.
“…Look, it’s not your responsibility to help patch me up when I’m a mess. I’m your husband, not your emotional burden.”
There was more silence as he was led toward the shower and helped inside.
“…Aren’t you going to say anything? I figured you of all people would be-”
“Displeased?” Tatiana replied without looking up. “I am. But I figure you don’t need to hear me say that, since you already know that you’re wrong.”
Abaddon stepped, or rather, was pushed, into the shower. The boiling water soaked his neck and shoulders. Miniature rivers cascaded down his chest to wash away the last of the evidence.
Tatiana removed her underwear and stepped inside with him. The way she refused to meet Abaddon’s gaze haunted him.
Nothing was stronger than his wife’s sense of justice.
Being married to two war deities, Tatiana understood that sometimes, violence was an inevitable part of living.
It is a natural landscape that must be tread through on the planes of chaos that dictate our lives.
However necessary violence was, Tatiana did not believe in needless cruelty. Especially towards the weak and defeated.
She was the very personification of justice.
In a way, she was part of the group’s moral binding. She helped them all to remember that their powers were to be used in service. Not in vengeance or greed.
Tatiana was perhaps the person Abaddon wanted to face the most after what he had done. Because he knew all too well just how much what he had done would bother her.
It was another compounding mistake that he couldn’t take back.
“…Do you still want to have another child?” Tatiana asked suddenly.
Abaddon, surprised by the question, did not know how to answer. “I…”
“I want our son or daughter to have a father who is unceasingly kind despite his tremendous power. I want them to see that, through any trials and difficulties, our family is one of love, trust, and communication at the end of the day. I want them to be born into something I did not have.”
Tatiana looked up at her husband’s face for the first time. Her gaze was as serious as it was hurt.
“Most of all, I want to have a husband who doesn’t give up in the face of fractures and lashes out at those unrelated to the cause. I want you to keep being someone that our entire family can look up to. However, you need to find your way back to that… just tell me so that I can help you.”
