First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1214: Eternally Nosy

Chapter 1214: Eternally Nosy
Eternity stares at the golden, bubbly liquid inside a glass.
He feels he knows the name, and yet it escapes him at present. Sometimes it is hard to keep track of an infinite amount of knowledge.
“No champagne?” The service girl asks.
Eternity snaps his fingers. “Ah, yes, that is what it was. It escaped me briefly.”
The Egoless of Time takes a glass as he smiles at her. “You are very insightful, young Whitney. Your husband is going to love that about you.”
The service girl is surprised by his words. But after a moment, she brushes them off as the mild chauvinism of a stranger.
“Well, thank you for that, sir.” She smiles politely. “Please, enjoy your evening.”
As she walks away, Eternity quirks his brow.
It takes him a while to put together why she might be offended at his words.
“Such a complex thing, language is… I wonder if my time here will have any more instances like this one.”
He doesn’t even need to think about the answer. He can already see that he will.
As the absolute personification of time, Eternity existed in every moment simultaneously. Past, Present, and Future almost mean nothing to him.
The only thing he could not have foreseen was the development he faced when he arrived.
He returns to his table, champagne in hand, and sits across from Abaddon, Ayaana, and Zahara.
“So… you are all an… oh, give me a moment, I’m trying to think of the term for this age and reality.” Eternity rubs his flawless chin. “A ’bae’?”
Abaddon almost spits out his own champagne.
“…Yes, but please don’t call us that.” Zahara sighs. “We are just wives and husband.”
Eternity nods. “Most curious…”
It is evident that he is more surprised by Abaddon than anything.
The fact that he, or rather Oblivion, has chosen to pursue companionship with anyone is enough to make him question everything he thought he knew about him.
“And… how exactly did this come about?” He gestures to the three of them.
The dragons glance at each other, all of them unsure of what yarn to weave.
“Same as you, I suppose. We wanted a novel experience and some rest.” Ayaana shrugs.
“Yes, that explains why you’re here in this dreadful place that stinks of the troublemaker. It does not, however, explain the backstory of your… relationship.”
Abaddon and Ayaana grimace.
But their wife has a plan to save them.
“Oh… it was my idea.” Zahara places a hand on her chest. “Day after day, listening to so many stories about the lands below… I couldn’t take it. I crafted a small vessel with the barest amount of my power possible and descended in secret.”
She grips Ayaana’s hand warmly.
“Of course, my darling followed me… but as we descended, we were caught by our husband.”
Eternity raises his brow at this. “Oblivion caught you? Not Balance or Boundary?”
He turns to Oblivion as if he cannot believe what he is hearing.
“And what were you doing outside of your domain at any point? It’s so unlike you.”
Abaddon does not quite possess his wife’s natural talent for acting, but he does the best he can.
He looks towards Ayaana and Zahara, his eyes becoming soft and sentimental.
“I suppose… I was there because I was also searching for some sort of change. And I found something greater than I ever could have wished for.”
For a moment, the three are no longer acting. Ayaana and Zahara’s eyes become just as soft and tender as their husband’s.
Something Eternity does not understand.
“…You do recall that you tried to eat all of us, yes?”
Abaddon almost chokes on air.
Ayaana holds his face warmly as she kisses his cheek. “Oh, don’t worry. He’s still eating me plenty.”
The dragon’s ears turn warm. Something that makes Ayaana and Zahara giggle.
And further adds to a scene that Eternity absolutely cannot believe.
“Is that a … sexual euphemism? How unbelievably mortal… how long have you been here to become so irrevocably tainted by this world!?”
“A few billion years.” Ayaana answers without looking at him.
“Such a brief moment, and it has transformed you all so completely..?” Eternity was visibly perplexed. “Most curious indeed…”
Abaddon pulls Ayaana into his arms before turning some of his attention back to their date-crasher. “How did you even find us, Eternity?”
“Oh, you were the one black spot in what should have been my complete vision. So I simply came here, and there the three of you were. Kissing and… canoodling. That’s the term.” He nodded, resolutely.
Eternity looks the three of them over, and while they seem happy, he cannot say he necessarily approves.
“…This is a dangerous undertaking you all have started.”
“Is it?” Ayaana sighed contentedly. “We don’t think so.”
“Balance will think so.’’
“Are there laws against us loving each other?”
“Nay…” Eternity grumbled. “But it is a potentially dangerous development. What if the three of you decided you wanted to turn against the rest of us? What if you change the fabric of this aeon beyond it’s natural course?”
’We’ve already done one of those…’ Abaddon thought.
“We don’t have an interest in fighting any of you.” Zahara admitted. “We simply want to love each other, and raise our children in-”
“You have children!?!” Eternity stands up abruptly.
Zahara wishes she could take her words out of the air as soon as she says them.
His beautiful face is bright red.
“Y-You.. y-you… y-you… You sneaky subterfugers! You act in defiance of the law! You know full well we are not free to reproduce more of us!”
“Would you sit down and be quiet..!” Abaddon whispers with a hiss. “You’re embarrassing yourself!”
“Our children are not Egoless, Eternity.” Ayaanna sighs. “They are gods.”
Eternity scratches his head as if he knows the term but can’t immediately place it’s definition.
“Their those things that mortals fight and kill each other over.” Zahara burps.
Recognition appears in Eternity’s eyes. “Ohhh…! ’Gods’!” He nods. “The lesser aeons, yes, yes, I remember now.”
Finally, the egoless calms down. He shows a small amount of embarrassment at his outburst and returns to his seat. “Right, well… I suppose that may not be a breach. It remains difficult to say for certain, though.”
Abaddon taps his hand on the table. His finger has transformed into a claw without him realizing it.
“Whether it is or isn’t is no one’s business. We will allow no harm to befall our children, and we will not be separated from them for any reason. Any attempt to separate us from them will be met with extreme aggressio-”
“Beef tartare?” A cheerful service girl comes over, carrying a silver tray lined withsome type of cracker and uncooked meat.
Abaddon quickly puts his hand away and shuts his eyes until they stop glowing.
Eternity stands up and inspects the cold appetizer on the tray.
“Ah… I remember the creation of these types of sustenance. Though I am unfamiliar with their taste. This will be an informative experience.”
“….Does that mean yes?”
“Yes, Cora. I would very much like one.”
Eternity takes a cracker and consumes it in one go. Watching him eat is hilariously undignified, and it takes every cell in Zahara’s body not to snicker.
After a few seconds of chewing, his face sours slightly.
Time rewinds. The missing tartare is returned to the serving tray.
“…I believe we are all fine, thank you, Cora. And congratulations on passing the bar.”
The service girl blinks. “…I don’t have my bar exam until next week… h-how did you know that-”
“Oh, I meant, good luck.”
“Yes, but how did you know that-”
“Run along now, child. You have more unsavory dishes to serve to bitter mortals.”
The woman slowly turns away, though she is visibly shaken by the strange conversation she had with an even stranger man.
Eternity sits down with a sigh. “Mortal cuisine escapes my understanding, I suppose… or perhaps my palate is just unrefined.”
Abaddon and Zahara naturally glanced at Ayaana.
“…What!?”
“Nothing, Mrs. Cheez-it’s for breakfast.” Zahara turns her head back.
“Just a bit of irony.” Abaddon also turns away.
Ayaana folds her arms. “I’m sorry, could you two repeat that? It sounded like you both said you never wanted to fuck me again.”
“…”
“…”
Abaddon and Zahara kiss Ayaana on her respective cheeks.
“That’s what I thought.”
No matter how much he witnessed the relationship of the three, Eternity still had trouble wrapping his mind around everything.
They were all so different from themselves, it was almost like they were entirely new people.
Eternity hadn’t seen anything like it since… ever.
He folded his hands together and leaned forward with a serious look in his eye.
“…I would like to meet these children of yours.”
Ayaana, Zahara, and Abaddon all freeze.
For a moment, Eternity wonders if he has accidentally frozen them without meaning to.
But suddenly, Zahara looks past him with a shocked expression.
“I-Is that you, Order…?!”
Eternity whirls around in bewilderment.
The nearest person is thirty feet away and is paying absolutely no attention to them.
Not to mention, he is completely mortal.
“…That is not Orde-”
Eternity turns around to find an empty table waiting for him. Even his glass of champagne has been taken.
“…It seems living with mortals has made them ruder than I remember.”
