First Demonic Dragon - Chapter 1234: The Shattered Earth

Chapter 1234: The Shattered Earth
When the world began to rumble, and the sky changed from blue to red, the students of Saint John High School were rushed back into the building despite the day having already ended.
The unexpected phenomenon led to mass panic and confusion.
The school automatically went on lockdown with the push of a button from the principal’s office.
Metal bars covered the doors and large windows as teachers tried to keep their kids from becoming restless.
However, when the children were unable to connect to the internet or use cell service to call their loved ones, their panic became more evident.
“Look!”
Cracks were beginning to form on the building.
Chunks of debris and wiring began to fall from the ceiling, inspiring worry from a very young teacher.
“E-Everybody outside, now!”
The teacher threw open her door and rushed the children into the hallway.
Dozens upon dozens more classroom doors opened as the building started to come down.
Despite the teachers doing their best to keep the evacuation organized, when the students entered the hallway again, the panic had already fully enveloped them.
Several students were knocked down as the hall transformed into a mass of pushing and shoving bodies.
Tears spilled as kids tried to hang on to their friends or young partners, only to lose them in the surge.
But things were getting worse every second, and there was no time to stop.
More of the building was beginning to crumble all around them.
Ceiling tiles fell out of the air and cut more than a few children.
As the waves reached the exits, they attempted to forcefully rip down the bars keeping them inside.
The principal had pressed the button to raise them from her office, but it no longer appeared to be working.
Sobbing and angry yelling filled the hallways until the entire school was nothing but a den of misery.
And soon, it would also be their grave.
Clouds of dust fell from the sky as the building reached a critical point of failure.
The teachers looked at each other at the same time, their faces contorted with grief, but also acceptance.
Without saying a word, they each did the last thing they could.
They grabbed the students nearest to them and attempted to shield them with their very own bodies.
Finally, the entire ceiling fell, and the hallway was filled with screams.
However, the ceiling never hit them.
At the same time, an entire wall of the hallway was ripped from it’s place.
The children screamed again and started to rush outside.
However, they never took a single step beyond the grounds of the school.
Their eyes were seemingly glued to the glowing figures standing on the school lawn. Some were even floating above it.
They appeared human, but they were very tall. Seven or eight feet, at the very least.
Their divine bodies were wrapped in white armor, with flowing white kilts.
A fist-sized amethyst gem sat in the middle of their chests. If they were cosplayers, they were extremely dedicated…
There must have been over two hundred of them. Not one of the students knew if they’d been saved, or if they were about to be slaughtered.
One woman stepped forward, a muscular type with a slightly mannish jaw. Her white hair was styled in a bang that covered half of her beautiful face.
She brought her fist to her mouth and coughed into it.
“Ah…Greetings, humans! My name is Cora! My men and I are here to save you before the apocalypse can crush your puny little bodies between it’s teeth and shit you out!”
One of the soldiers beside Cora nudged her in the side.
He leaned over to her and began whispering in her ear.
Cora’s face turned slightly red before returning to normal.
“…Apologies. I did not mean to make anyone uncomfortable by referring to your weak, helpless forms.”
Cora’s attendant could only hold his face in his hands.
“E-Excuse me…!”
“Yes, little human?? Come forward!”
One of the teachers stepped onto the school lawn, her hands shaking and her eyes darting from place to place.
“Are you… angels?”
“What? No!” Cora seemed offended. “We are the children of Fate. We walk in her divine path as her most devout followers, and when she calls upon us, we act upon her behalf.”
The teacher blinked slowly. “…What?”
“I am actually quite excited!” Cora laughed thunderously with her hands on her hips. “This is the first time in 1,000 years that Lady Thea has called us into action! Thank you for your weakness, humans! I would not have had a chance to bring glory to my Goddess’ name if it were not for your fragility! Hahahahahaha!!!”
Cora’s attendant nudged her again to stop her from laughing.
On the road, the quakes continued to seize the world, causing cracks to split the concrete.
Cora watched it all happen with a neutral gaze.
“I see… Mother Earth is growing. I cannot wait to see what it will look like when it’s evolution is complete.”
“W-Why is this happening??” Another teacher asked.
Cora tilted her head. “This is preordained. These signs are only the first, but there will be more to come. Soon, monsters will repopulate the earth again, and the factions of the heavens will be at war. The evolved Earth will be their great battleground. And for the winner, it shall also be their prize.”
The large woman sighed in a depressed tone. “If only my lady were participating…. I would love to slay hordes of unworthy enemies in her name and turn heretics toward the light of her holy and forgiving visage.”
Cora’s attendant nudged her and whispered in her ear once again.
“…Ah. You all do not know what I’m referring to. I forgot again.” She shrugged.
Cora turned her head to the sky. “Bring them down!”
Out of nowhere, a fleet of carriages appeared in the sky and sank towards the lawn. They were enormous, glorious, golden works of art.
The doors to the carriages swung open, and the space inside was revealed to be even more luxurious than the outside.
“We have prepared enough room for each of you.” Cora continued. “We have also been instructed to take you to procure your families before we transport you to a safe location. My Lady will discuss next steps from there.”
The young woman on the lawn was so baffled she could barely move her mouth. Everything was happening so fast that it was disorienting.
“…W… Why are you doing all of this for us?” The teacher asked.
Cora’s brow shot up. “From my understanding, it was the wish of the young Princess Odessa that you be spared. Though it doesn’t surprise me. Since she is related to Lady Thea, she must also have a heart of gold that cares for every man, woman, and insect alike! They are truly great..”
Cora’s attendant punched her in the back.
“FUCK! What did I do this time, Leonidas!?”
This time, the man didn’t even say anything. He just frowned at her.
That was more than enough for Cora to realize her mistake on her own.
“Ah…. I don’t believe I was supposed to tell you that. My mistake.”
It was too late to take it back. Murmurs had already started ripping through the crowd about the orange-haired young lady.
However, the teachers couldn’t allow their students to sit back and talk while the earth was shaking.
“O-Okay… kids, I want you all to move in an organized fashion towards the chariots of the angel people!”
Cora’s brow furrowed. “We’re not… ah, it’s fine.”
She pulled a small effigy out of her pocket and marveled at the form it was modeled after.
Her cheeks became flushed with red. The time between her breaths shortened every time she inhaled.
“I hope you are pleased with my efforts… my glorious and beautiful goddess!”
– Some time later…
A portal opened up in an unknown domain.
Slowly, Abaddon stepped through, and he looked around at the world he used to know as Earth.
Gaia was often dubbed the big blue marble. Abaddon couldn’t really see why.
However, now the name seemed to fit perfectly.
The wild grass underneath his foot glowed with a deep blue bioluminescent light. The sky above was a myriad of dark blues, reds, and subtle greens.
Planets were closer to the Earth than they had ever been. So close that Abaddon could see them from where he stood.
However, they appeared… smaller?
He casually turned his head towards the lake on their property.
The water did not posess it’s usual clear color. Instead, it was a mystic, shining amethyst.
Abaddon inhaled the air and marveled at what he found.
Magic vibrated in the air to such an astronomical degree that for a moment, he believed he was back in Tehom.
“No wonder you were so shrivelled… How much power did it take you to do all of this, Asherah..?” Abaddon muttered to himself.
Slowly, more and more of his family arrived through the portal.
They, like him, marveled at the new world around them as they mourned their old one.
“…How long have we been gone exactly..?” Lusamine questioned.
“It only felt like anhour at most, but this… doesn’t just happen in that amount of time, right? Asherah couldn’t have done all of this while she was dealing with us; she didn’t even have the power to defend herself earlier.” Darius added.
Ayaana and Zahara stepped out of the portal last, then the opening finally closed behind them.
They seemed just as baffled by what they saw as everyone else.
“…Everyone, head back inside and get ready for the coming days…” Scales began to grow along Ayaana’s face as her body grew.
“Abaddon and I are going to scout ahead a bit. No one leaves until we return.”
