First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2176 - The Road to Revenge

Chapter 2176 – The Road to Revenge
Yi Daoxuan had married and had children. His Dao Partner was called Yu Xinyao, and she was from Qingwu Divine Court.
Hua Hongzhen was her sectmate and junior apprentice brother. When Yi Daoxuan first met him, he was only a Fortune Realm Greater God.
Yu Xinyao cared for Hua Hongzhen. She said that as his senior apprentice sister, she’d overseen his cultivation ever since he first joined the sect. She’d even guided and instructed him on numerous occasions.
Hua Hongzhen hadn’t let her down, either. He rose to prominence within Qingwu Divine Court one step at a time. As his strength grew, so too did his status within the sect.
When Yu Xinyao left Qingwu Divine Court to become Yi Daoxuan’s Dao Partner, Hua Hongzhen was already an elder of great authority, just one step away from proving his Dao and becoming a Master God.
It would have been fair to say that Yu Xinyao had brought her junior apprentice brother up.
As the saying went, when you loved your home, you loved even the crows perching on the eaves. Yi Daoxuan thus trusted and looked after Hua Zhongzhen, too.
When they learned that Hua Hongzhen had reached a bottleneck in his cultivation, and that try as he might, he couldn’t prove his Dao and become a Master God, Yi Daoxuan and Yu Xinyao ventured into a terrifying forbidden zone, braving almost certain death to acquire a Xiantian Dao Fruit for Hua Hongzhen.
Hua Hongzhen used the Xiantian Dao Fruit to prove his Dao and become an Undying Realm Master God!
Later, when Yi Daoxuan’s enemies pursued him, he had no choice but to take his wife and flee to the ends of the earth.
It was during their years on the run that Yi Daoxuan suddenly received a message from Hua Hongzhen. He needed their help!
Hua Hongzhen said that because of their close bond, numerous peak factions had joined forces against Qingwu Divine Court, and their fate hung in the balance. Hua Hongzhen himself was in grave danger, and he wouldn’t be able to hold out much longer.
When they learned this, neither Yi Daoxuan nor his wife suspected a thing. Both of them rushed to Qingwu Divine Court to help Hua Hongzhen.
They never would have thought that they’d actually fallen into a meticulously placed trap.
Only after it was too late did Yi Daoxuan and Yu Xinyao realize that the Hua Hongzhen they’d trusted so much had betrayed them!
His call for aid was completely fake. His true goal was to lure the couple to Qingwu Divine Court.
When they arrived, Yi Daoxuan’s enemies were already lying in ambush!
A fierce battle unfolded.
At a critical juncture, Yu Xinyao used a forbidden technique that destroyed her cultivation base and burned her vitality to let Yi Daoxuan escape.
Although Yi Daoxuan made it out alive, this incident became a source of lasting torment.. He couldn’t forget that someone his wife saw as family, her junior apprentice brother, had betrayed them both.
Nor could he forget the sight of his wife’s last desperate struggles against their powerful enemies.
And he certainly couldn’t forgive the traitor, Hua Hongzhen!
Unfortunately…
Yi Daoxuan died before getting the chance to avenge his wife. This was one of his greatest regrets!
Now, all of these memories, experiences, and feelings had fused into Su Yi. When he looked back on them, he couldn’t help but feel frustrated, angry, and upset.
Although it hadn’t shaken his mentality, even Su Yi found it hard to bear this bone-deep hatred.
Hua Hongzhen had betrayed him and killed his wife. If he let this grudge go unavenged, was he even human?
Thus, the moment Su Yi laid eyes on Wandering Sun God Cai Lei, he decided to settle this blood debt once and for all during his time in the Southern Flame Divine Continent!
“Of course Ancestor Hongzhen is still alive,” said Cai Lei. He looked at Su Yi strangely. Who in the Southern Flame Divine Continent doesn’t know that?
“Still alive, huh…?” Su Yi whispered. “Good.”
His words sent an inexplicable chill through Cai Lei’s heart. He couldn’t help but look flabbergasted. “Are you perhaps planning to join Qingwu Divine Court to oppose Ancestor Hongzhen?”
“‘Oppose?’” Su Yi said flatly. “No, I’m going to ruin his reputation and leave him longing to die yet unable to do so as punishment for his crimes.”
“???” Cai Lei’s eyes widened. He’s got to be insane! Otherwise, how could he set his sights on Ancestor Hongzhen?
Never mind the Southern Flame Divine Continent. How many people in the God Domain as a whole are fit to be his enemy?
Su Yi said no more on the matter. He just restrained Cai Lei and put him back in the Divine Replenishment Furnace.
“Master, are you really going to seek revenge against Qingwu Divine Court?” asked the little monkey, now in sparrow form.
“Yes, but revenge doesn’t have to happen overnight,” Su Yi said casually. “Don’t you think Qingwu Divine Court is a suitable place to cultivate?”
The little monkey mulled that over, then quickly understood. Master is still injured, and he’s recovered less than ten percent of his cultivation base. At times like this, it’s best to keep a low profile.
Whatever else you might say about it, Qingwu Divine Court is a top faction, with enough resources to support a god’s cultivation.
If Master manages to finagle his way into the sect, he’ll be able to use their forces toward his own ends, too. That will be convenient whether he wants to gather information or accomplish other goals.
Even disregarding the rest, even if all he does is grasp the current situation in Qingwu Divine Court, that will come in handy when it comes time to seek revenge against Hua Hongzhen!
“When we reach the Southern Flame Divine Continent, we’ll split up and act separately,” said Su Yi. “You’ll set course for the Endless Ocean to gather information. Most importantly, I’d like you to find out whether these old-timers are still alive or not.”
With that, Su Yi took out a jade slip and passed it to the little monkey. It contained a list of names, seven in total.
The little monkey accepted the jade slip and said, “Did your past self have enemies in the Endless Ocean, too?”
Su Yi rubbed his forehead. “I wouldn’t dignify them with the title ‘enemy.’ They’re no more than a pack of traitorous lowlife bastards.”
In life, Yi Daoxuan had been the Master of the Endless Ocean. They called him its “Unparalleled Sword Demon!”
He’d presided over Sunset Perch Island, so they also called him the Master of Sunset Perch Island.
During his years cultivating in the Endless Ocean, Yi Daoxuan swore brotherhood with seven of his fellow Daoists. They promised to live and die together. Each was the leader of their faction, so they were collectively known as the Eight Great Demon Venerates of the Endless Ocean.
Theirs were the names on the list of people Su Yi asked the little monkey to investigate.
His reasoning was simple. One of his “sworn brothers” had stabbed Yi Daoxuan in the back, almost costing him his life!
He’d survived, but he’d been left with severe Dao Wounds.
Later, when Yi Daoxuan finally fell at his enemies’ hands, it was in large part due to those very Dao Wounds.
Su Yi naturally couldn’t just let that go.
Yi Daoxuan had suffered far too much misfortune and far too many setbacks. There was a reason the River Lord said he’d never seen someone as unfortunate as Yi Daoxuan before…
Some of these enmities, Yi Daoxuan had let go before he died.
Other grudges, Yi Daoxuan couldn’t let go even in his last moments.
Like the blood debt he owed Hua Hongzhen, or his hatred for the sworn brother who’d stabbed him in the back.
Was Yi Daoxuan’s character lacking? No, that wasn’t it! Su Yi understood that full well. He’d been targeted because Di E, the old hunchback, and other powerful enemies wanted him dead!
Those connected to Yi Daoxuan feared being implicated or punished by association. That was true for Yi Daoxuan, and it was true for Yi Daoxuan’s sworn brothers in the Endless Ocean, too!
Su Yi didn’t just want to resolve those lingering enmities. He wanted to destroy Di E, the old hunchback, and the others too. Only then could he untie this knot in his heart and fully sever the grudges of his fourth life.
Only then could Su Yi fully relax, and only then would he truly be free of the karma of his past life.
There’s no rush. After arriving in the God Domain, I can sever these grudges and settle these blood debts one by one, thought Su Yi.
There really was no urgency. For now, he had to lie low and avoid attention. The moment he revealed himself, he could forget about revenge; he’d likely find himself in the exact same situation as Yi Daoxuan, trapped in an endless pursuit as his enemies relentlessly pursued him…
That wasn’t what Su Yi wanted right now.
The River Lord estimated that at least thirty years remain until the onset of the Dark Days of Legend. No matter what, I have to use those thirty years to grow strong enough to face all of my enemies in the God Domain!
Numerous thoughts flooded into Su Yi’s mind.
He recalled A’Cai and the mysterious spearwoman, Lin Jinghong, who’d left for the God Domain years prior.
He recalled Li Fuyou’s old friends, who were now trapped in the Boundless Battlefield.
And he recalled Xi Ning…
Now that he thought about it, he really did have quite a few entanglements in the God Domain.
His fifth incarnation, Li Fuyou, and his fourth incarnation, Yi Daoxuan, had both been active in the God Domain.
He’d clashed with many of its experts in his current incarnation, too.
And thirty years later, the Dark Days of Legend would arrive. This was an upset large enough to turn the entire God Domain on its head.
When the time came, time and space would descend into upheaval, and the natural order would descend into chaos. The legendary figures of ages both past and present would all enter the present day, including his third incarnation, Xiao Jian, who was currently lying in wait in the Path of the Ancient Gods.
But Su Yi wasn’t worried about any of that, because in his current incarnation, he was different from his past selves!
He wasn’t concerned about grudges, storms, calamities, troubles, and disasters… The way Su Yi saw it, they were mere stumbling blocks in his pursuit of the Grand Dao. If they got in his way, he’d just cut right through them!
Hm? As Su Yi pondered, he suddenly sensed something, and he instinctively gazed into the distance.
He was currently traveling the road of stars leading to the Southern Flame God Domain. The path was frequented by cultivators and treasure ships year-round, and it was quite crowded.
But now, a silver-robed man was walking through the void. He was headed right for Su Yi’s ship.
His long hair was disheveled, and he looked carefree and relaxed, with an unfettered air about him. He looked young, but he emanated the aura of the vicissitudes of countless years, and he stood out from the crowd.
When he sensed Su Yi’s gaze, he smiled and waved.
“Don’t be nervous. My name is…. Um. Let’s go with ‘Ai Kun.’ I’m just passing through.”
