First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2182 - A Broken Sword

Chapter 2182 – A Broken Sword
It was lonely at the top.
The pursuit of the Grand Dao was largely solitary, too.
It was only by re-entering the world that one could experience liveliness and crowds again.
Even if none of the hustle and bustle had anything to do with him, Su Yi enjoyed just seeing it. This was a rare moment of leisure. What harm was there in drinking alone amidst the red dust of mundanity?
Su Yi sat there quietly, drinking alone with great relish. He thought and did nothing at all.
Throughout the restaurant, the other diners were all talking about the upcoming Spring at Autumn Dao Assembly. It was quite lively.
Some people said that this assembly would be the greatest yet, and that it had drawn gods from all over the Southern Flame Divine Province.
Some were here to spar and debate the Dao, while others were hoping to join a top faction to continue their cultivation.
Some simply wanted to stand above the competition!
The Spring and Autumn Assembly was to be held at the Jade Cauldron Ritual Grounds in the city center in two days’ time.
When the time came, all of the Southern Flame Divine Continent’s top factions would send prominent experts to watch the proceedings. Their goal was to recruit standout performers into their respective sects.
Thus, the Spring and Autumn Dao Assembly drew numerous extraordinary talents and gods of terrifying strength.
After all, ordinary cultivation factions couldn’t satisfy their need for cultivation resources. It was only by joining a top faction that they could ensure their glorious prospects.
Furthermore, these discussions touched on Su Yi’s arrival in the Southern Flame Divine Continent. Many of the diners were trying to guess where Su Yi had gone.
Some of them analyzed the situation in the Southern Flame Divine Continent. They said that dark currents were flowing beneath the surface and that the whole God Domain was watching.
All because Su Yi was hiding in the Southern Flame Divine Continent!
Su Yi wasn’t interested in any of this, nor could he be bothered to pay attention. He was more interested in the hustle and bustle he saw through the window. It was unquestionably far more pleasing to his senses than the debates raging inside.
When he’d finished his jug of wine, Su Yi rose and silently set off.
…
The Qilin Trading Company.
Even late at night, the Qiling Trading Company was packed. The ten-thousand-foot tower was thoroughly illuminated by the colorful, flowing light of its palace lamps.
When Su Yi arrived, an attendant quickly stepped up to welcome him warmly.
“What can I do for you, sir?” The attendant was beautiful, and she had perfect manners.
“I’m looking for divine medicines, ideally on the rarer side,” Su Yi said casually.
The attendant’s eyes lit up as she realized that this was someone with deep pockets. “Right this way, please.” Before long, she’d led him to a massive, old-fashioned hall near the top of the tower.
This place was reserved specifically for gods to do business. Everything on display was a divine treasure, no exceptions.
They had divine medicines, materials, and treasures… and together, they were a dazzling sight.
“Do any of the medicines here suit you, sir?” the attendant asked with a smile.
Su Yi scanned the room. There was no denying that the Qilin Trading Company lived up to its reputation as one of the three greatest trading companies of the God Domain. Every divine medicine on display was extraordinary and precious.
Of course, they were extraordinarily pricey, too.
Alas, they were severely lacking compared to the eighty-one divine medicines Si Ming had given him.
“Do you have anything else?” asked Su Yi.
He’d come here hoping to buy divine medicines not typically available on the market.
The attendant was stunned. She hesitated and said, “The Qilin Trading Company naturally has no shortage of rarer, unparalleled divine medicines, but…”
Su Yi took out ten Undying Divine Crystals and said, “Take these as a deposit.”
The attendant quivered, then gasped. Anyone capable of casually whipping out ten Undying Divine Crystals was in no way short on cash. After all, even a single piece of Undying Divine Crystal could purchase a stalk of extraordinary divine medicine!
“Please wait momentarily while I consult with my superiors,” said the attendant. Then, she dashed off.
Before long, she’d returned with a charming smile on her face. “You came at just the right time, sir. The Qilin Trading Company is currently hosting an auction in the Magnificent Treasure Hidden Realm.
“Only our most distinguished guests are eligible to participate. The manager has instructed me to guide you there.
“But allow me to warn you: whether or not you can acquire the treasures you’re after is up to you. No matter what, you cannot break the rules of the auction.”
Su Yi thought for a moment, then nodded.
The two of them set off, and soon, the attendant had led him right to the Qilin Trading Company’s Magnificent Treasure Hidden Realm.
It was a place of flowing waters, ornate bridges, and a forest of pagodas, like an otherworldly pure land.
They’d hidden themselves, but when he arrived, Su Yi immediately sensed the presence of numerous mighty Fortune Realm Greater Gods!
There was no doubt about it. These were the hidden realm’s guards!
The Qilin Trading Company had guards watching over its hidden realm. This was clear evidence of how firm their foundations were.
“Manager, this is the esteemed guest I told you about.” The attendant stood outside an old-fashioned hall and reported in.
“Come in.”
A crisp, pleasant female voice emanated from within the hall.
Su Yi was stunned. The manager of the Spring and Autumn City Branch of the Qilin Trading Company is a woman?
As he pondered, the attendant led Su Yi into the hall.
The hall’s interior was thoroughly lamplit. There was a jade platform at the center of the room, with a bronze box placed atop it.
There were about a dozen people seated around the jade platform. All of them looked and dressed differently, but they all emanated the characteristic air of one long accustomed to power.
Whoosh!
When Su Yi walked into the hall, all of them looked over. When they saw that he was only a mid-stage Creation Realm Lesser God, several of them shook their heads dismissively and looked away.
But then, one of them, a red-haired, sunken-eyed elder in Daoist robes, exclaimed, “A Torch Dragon bloodline!? My young friend, are you perhaps a descendant of the Torch Dragons?”
Many of the others couldn’t help but look stunned. The Torch Dragon Race!
This terrifying race had vanished from the God Domain countless years ago. They called themselves the descendants of natural-born divinities, and the power of their bloodline was among the greatest of all living creatures!
A crisp, pleasing voice rang out. “Our fellow Daoist is indeed of the Torch Dragon Race.”
Su Yi looked over and saw an upright female figure in the centermost seat, behind the jade platform.
She was in a long, blue-green dress, and her smooth, fair skin shone beneath the lamplight. A gauze veil obscured the lower half of her face, but her slender figure and extraordinary disposition made it obvious that she was an unparalleled beauty.
Her intense blue eyes were most striking of all. They were as inscrutable as the surface of the boundless ocean, and they seemed to reflect the mysterious subtleties of the human heart.
Even though Su Yi had seen all manner of unparalleled beauties in his life, he still sensed a unique charm about her.
There was no doubt about it. She was the manager of the local branch of the Qilin Trading Company, the mysterious woman the city’s inhabitants called Madam Qi Wei.
Madam Qi Wei’s striking blue eyes were looking at Su Yi in surprise, as if she’d discovered something novel and rare.
“That’s right. My name is Xiao Jian, and I’m indeed a member of the Torch Dragon lineage,” Su Yi said calmly.
He was dressed in white, with the thin features and magnificent, solitary figure of his third incarnation. His whole body emanated the composed, bookish air of a scholar.
“Xiao Jian?” Madam Qi Wei batted her eyes. “I recall the ancient tomes stating that all descendants of the Torch Dragon lineage were surnamed Zhu. ‘Xiao Jian’ isn’t your real name, is it?”
Su Yi said noncommittally, “A name, that’s all. It doesn’t matter.”
Madam Qi Wei smiled and nodded. “That’s indeed the case. Please, take a seat.”
“Many thanks.” Su Yi promptly chose a seat in the corner.
But even though he’d chosen a spot in the corner, Su Yi could sense numerous people trying to size him up. It was obvious that his identity as a member of the Torch Dragon lineage had piqued these prominent experts’ interest!
Su Yi didn’t mind that at all.
But much to his surprise, one of the other attendees was an old acquaintance.
Feng Wuji!
His brow was tightly furrowed, and he sat there in silence, as if he had a lot on his mind. There was no sign of his usual high-spirited disposition.
He was accompanied by an old man in plain robes, a Fortune Realm Greater God.
Based on their attire, Su Yi could tell that most of the people here were prominent experts of top factions.
Like the Nine Profundities Yao Court and the Severed Heavens Demon Court. All were top factions of the Southern Flame Divine Continent.
Su Yi was actually the least eye-catching figure here.
At least, he would have been if his Torch Dragon lineage hadn’t drawn so much attention.
Su Yi pondered, I heard that not long ago, the Rahu Yao Ancestor got stuck in a forbidden zone. They say he’s badly injured, and no one knows if he’s alive or dead. I wonder if that’s why Feng Wuji has come to Spring and Autumn City?
The Rahu Yao Ancestor was a Nine-Tribulation Master God of the Feng Family, as well as one of Li Fuyou’s old enemies.
He was also Feng Wuji’s grandfather!
The whole Southern Flame Divine Continent shook when the Rahu Yao Ancestor got trapped in a forbidden zone. Su Yi had naturally heard all about it.
Thus, it wasn’t hard for Su Yi to guess why Feng Wuji was here.
But he quickly set that aside. This secret auction was already underway.
Attendants carried out the hosts’ orders from the sidelines, displaying one seldom-seen and precious treasure after another.
These included fragments of ancient treasures, lost Daoist canons, and all sorts of other goods. All of them had shocking origins, and many of the gathered higher-ups made offers on them.
But Su Yi wasn’t particularly interested in anything on display thus far. He was even starting to get a bit bored.
“Everyone, I know you’re all here for this next treasure, so I won’t keep you in suspense. First, allow me to show it to you.”
Madam Qi Wei smiled, then ordered an attendant to open the bronze box on the jade platform.
When the box opened, a streak of cold light and imposing sword qi shot forth. Sword intent rife with the stench of blood filled the room, and the temperature rapidly plummeted.
Everyone stiffened, and goosebumps rose on their skin. All of them felt a bone-deep chill.
When they next gazed into the box, they saw a bronze Dao Sword coated in dried blood. The edge glinted with cold, dim light, as if it had feasted on the blood of countless gods, so many that its blade was permanently stained red!
Unfortunately, the sword was broken.
Even so, the crowd was obviously excited, and their gazes heated up. They stared at the broken sword with undisguised greed.
But when Su Yi saw it, he couldn’t help but feel stunned.
