First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2393 - Breaking the Trap

Chapter 2393 – Breaking the Trap
As the group was stunned by the little girl’s divine majesty, the Dipankara Buddha clasped his palms together. “I’m already deeply gratified that my offering has pleased you. Please, enjoy your meal!”
“Enjoy your meal.” This choice of words was unquestionable proof that the Dipankara Buddha had long since taken the River Child for the little girl’s sustenance!
The River Child’s brow furrowed, and the depths of his gaze shone with ferocity.
The little girl said nothing; she just attacked.
First, she vanished into thin air. A moment later, she was right in front of the River Child, her delicate fingers reaching for his head.
Bang!
The River child activated the Umbrella of Tribulations and fought back, but within moments, the little girl had sent him flying; he couldn’t block even a single hit.
The old-timers watching couldn’t help but gasp. The power the little girl was using was more than just terrifying. It was simply unbelievable!
“Powers of the natural order aren’t all created equal. A strict ranking exists between them, and the ranks cannot be crossed. With your power, you can never suppress me,” the girl said in a dry, indifferent voice. “Don’t struggle; it’ll all be vain.”
Her voice had only just rung out when she attacked once more.
It was just a light, gentle wave of the hand, but it filled the sky with a resplendent current of silver flames. This was a taboo and strange power of the natural order, full of the inextinguishable charms of Eternity.
Even the sky itself silently burned.
The entire stretch of heaven and earth seemed to have been plunged into an endless sea of flames, a burning purgatory. The air boiled around them, and it seemed they might well melt at a moment’s notice, like burning candles.
Yan Chizhen and Five Desires immediately circulated their cultivation bases to defend themselves. Both were visibly stricken.
And that was how they felt as mere onlookers.
The River Child looked stricken too, but more than that, he felt an intense, suffocating sensation.
He was a spirit of the natural order. He naturally knew that the girl was telling the truth. Some spirits of the natural order were stronger than others, and the ranks were rigid.
The girl’s level was obviously above his. He couldn’t reach her level, nor could he defend himself against her!
For a moment, he felt a sense of helplessness and despair. He felt like a fish on the chopping block, his imminent death looming over him…
But it was then that a black line appeared out of nowhere right in front of him.
No, it wasn’t a black line. Rather, it was a streak of mysterious sword qi. It seemed to cleave through time and space, opening a rift to another spacetime.
When the silver flames of the natural order drew near, they silently vanished into the black line of sword qi.
The girl frowned.
“Come back!” Su Yi beckoned to the River Child. “You’re no match for her.”
Whoosh!
The River Child turned and shot toward Su Yi.
But then, the little girl attacked once more. The silver flames filling the sky descended in a magnificent display, surrounding the River Child from all directions.
Practically simultaneously, Treasure Leaf, still under the Dipankara Buddha’s control, lunged at Su Yi.
Yan Chizhen and Five Desires had spent much of their lives on the battlefield. How could they remain unmoved? At a critical juncture, the two of them worked together to intercept Treasure Leaf.
Su Yi, meanwhile, waved the rusted sheath and broke through the little girl’s killer attack once more, tearing a hole in the sea of silver flames.
The River Child seized the opportunity to flee to Su Yi’s side.
The little girl’s pitch-black eyes flashed with cold light. Then, suddenly, she shrieked.
Boom!!
Her tiny frame suddenly erupted with silver radiance. It soared into the heavens and pierced the firmament. Meanwhile, her childlike face grew hideous and contorted, and her imposing aura rose to new heights.
Heaven and earth burned, and endless silver radiance illuminated everything within ten thousand miles. It was dark out, yet the skies were as bright as at midday, and silver flames burned the heavens!
Even the Laws of the God Domain were startled, and they flowed in like waters at high tide. The sight was enough to make one shudder.
Boom!
Silver flames swept outward.
Yan Chizhen and Five Desires both suffered a terrifying blow. Both were sent flying, badly injured.
The power of the natural order was just too terrifying. Both Nine-Tribulation Master Gods were helpless against it.
The Dipankara Budhda, meanwhile, seized the opportunity to direct Treasure Leaf to attack Su Yi.
And the little girl gazed coldly at the River Child, as if saying, “Even if I can’t eat you, I’ll destroy you before letting you go!”
This strike was indeed far too terrifying. It swept throughout the entire area, injuring Yan Chizhen and Five Desires and giving the Dipankara Buddha an attack, all the while drawing a backlash from the surrounding Laws.
Su Yi was instantly beset by grave peril on both sides. He was, after all, only in the Fortune Realm.
If he tried to save the River Child, he’d have to face the no-holds-barred attack of a peak Nine-Tribulation Master God like Treasure Leaf.
If he disregarded the River Child’s life and death, he might well avoid Treasure Leaf’s attack, but the River Child would be doomed!
What should he do?
Others in Su Yi’s position would have been forced to make a painful choice.
But Su Yi didn’t have to choose.
He swung the rusted sword sheath with his right hand, sending the power of reincarnation to blanket heaven and earth and obscure the entire stretch of sky.
How terrifying and taboo were those endless silver flames? Yet in the face of that sword sheath’s attack, all were devoured with ease.
When the power of reincarnation spread, it protected the River Child from the Laws on the verge of destroying him just in the nick of time.
Kaboom!
The power of reincarnation shook violently, clashing with the Laws of the surrounding area. The entire stretch of sky instantly collapsed and withered.
The River Child escaped death, but the close call left his scalp numb with fright.
Meanwhile, as Su Yi swung the rusted sheath with his right hand, his other hand formed seals, creating the strange, mysterious imprint of a secret spell.
The secret spell took shape just as Treasure Leaf reached him. He swung at it furiously.
This was the no-holds-barred attack of a peak Nine-Tribulation Master God. It was far beyond Su Yi’s ability to block.
Su Yi knew that if he clashed with that attack head on, he’d be crippled, or even killed!
But then, something unbelievable happened.
In the face of Su Yi’s secret spell imprint, a bewildered light rose in the controlled Treasure Leaf’s eyes, and his whole body trembled.
The power of his strike instantly halved.
Even so, when it slammed into Su Yi’s chest, a large section of his chest caved in. His bones snapped, and blood splattered the air.
Terrifying palm force invaded his body, injuring Su Yi inside and out. He hacked up a mouthful of blood.
But after enduring this powerful blow, Su Yi didn’t retreat. On the contrary, he advanced, his fingers lightly quick as he pressed down on Treasure Leaf’s forcehead.
The Dipankara Buddha cried out, “One of the Eight Ultimate Taboos of the Aberrant Dao! How could you possibl—”
But his voice came to an abrupt halt before he could finish his sentence.
Boom!
The seal Su Yi had pressed onto Treasure Leaf’s forehead rose, taking a streak of black, cursed power with it. It then shattered in mid-air.
That was the Paired Heart-Guiding Worm! Su Yi had extracted and destroyed it with ease!
In doing so, he’d severed the Dipankara Buddha’s ability to control Treasure Leaf!
All of this took a while to explain, but in truth, it happened in a flash. Su Yi had, practically simultaneously, saved the River Child and destroyed the Paired Heart-Guiding Worm in his old friend’s body.
Those not directly involved could never have understood the perils therein.
The River Child was still alive.
Treasure Leaf stood there in a daze, a bewildered look on his face.
Yan Chizhen and Five Desires felt massive weights lift from their shoulders.
The River Child had survived a disaster, and he found it hard to calm down.
Su Yi wiped the blood from his lips and left out a long pent-up breath.
He’d succeeded!
The biggest variable in this whole death trap was the arrival of the little girl. That had almost ruined Su Yi’s plans.
Fortunately, this variable hadn’t failed to turn the situation around. He’d nonetheless managed to destroy the Dipankara Buddha’s schemes.
Treasure Leaf hadn’t died. Five Desires was still here. The River Child hadn’t been devoured. Su Yi might have been injured, but this result was still perfectly satisfying.
The little girl was the one least willing to accept this outcome. She stood in the air, her expression utterly dark, and her tiny frame dissipating at speeds visible to the naked eye.
Earlier, she’d done her utmost to guide the Laws of the surrounding area, trying to stabilize heaven and earth in a single strike.
But when Su Yi attacked, he didn’t just disrupt her efforts. He even made the little girl suffer a backlash!
Ultimately, she wasn’t of the God Domain. Just like the River Child, she was subject to the suppression of its Laws.
“Don’t tell me you’ve already awakened the complete memories of your past lives?” said the little girl, her voice icy and hoarse.
The question made Su Yi pick up on an altogether different flavor. The complete memories of my past lives? Does that mean she knows my origins, including my multiple reincarnations prior to Yi Daoxuan?
In that case, did I meet that little girl in one of the lives whose memories I’ve yet to awaken?
Su Yi pondered briefly, but instead of answering, he changed the subject. “This isn’t your real body, is it?”
“That’s right,” said the little girl, her gaze calm and indifferent. “Were my true body here, you’d have been crushed like an ant a long time ago.”
Everyone gasped. This wasn’t her real body, but she was already this terrifying. In that case, how terrifying was her true body?
Su Yi didn’t think the little girl was being arrogant. This was a spirit of the natural order born of the River of Destiny. Her source powers naturally contained mysteries of Eternity!
Someone like her was far beyond an Undying Realm Master God. In a sense, the little girl was a true Eternal, someone who’d stepped fully onto the River of Destiny!
Of course, she represented part of the natural order, so she wasn’t a living person, but that made her more terrifying, not less.
Take the River Child. He might have seemed like “just” a spirit of the natural order, but his strength was comparable to those old-timers who’d touched the threshold of the River of Destiny!
“What about Di E? Why isn’t he here?” Su Yi asked suddenly.
He’d yet to fully relax, as he was on guard against Di E appearing out of nowhere. Su Yi most certainly hadn’t forgotten that it was Di E who’d appeared out of nowhere to deal him an almost lethal blow on his way to the God Domain!
The little girl didn’t respond. Her figure was already illusory and indistinct. Barely a wisp of her remained, and it was on the verge of dissipating.
“When the Dark Days of Legend arrive, the Laws of the God Domain will collapse,” she said coldly. “When the time comes, that rusted sheath won’t be able to protect you, and I… will strip you of your power of reincarnation and help Di E bring order to the world. He’ll preside over the alternation of the epochs and the shifting of the cycle of destiny.”
“If you’ve really awakened all of your memories, you’re naturally well aware that this is no mere threat, and that our competition began a long, long time ago.”
Before her voice had even finished echoing through the air, the little girl vanished.
Su Yi’s eyebrows froze. Our competition over the power of reincarnation and bringing order to the world began a long, long time ago?
Which of my past lives is she talking about? Xiao Jian?
My second incarnation? Or… perhaps my first?
