First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2399 - The Spectacle

Chapter 2399 – The Spectacle
The Angler understood Su Yi’s character.
Su Yi was a sword cultivator who killed decisively. He hated wasting his breath, and when it came time to attack, he disdained a single wasted word.
Yet now, here he was, making idle chatter.
This uncharacteristic behavior had long since put the Angler on guard. Now, he could hold back no longer. His brow furrowed, and he said, “If you don’t attack, I’m going to leave!”
With that, he turned around as if to leaf. This was a form of probing.
But Su Yi just stood there calmly and said, “The spectacle has not yet begun. If you’re really willing to leave now, go right ahead.”
“…” The Angler didn’t know what to say to that. “You’re bluffing. Quit feigning mysteriousness. Seems to me that you’re just stalling for time until reinforcements arrive!”
Su Yi shook his head. “Such methods are far too coarse. Even if I’d called for far more reinforcements, if you tried your utmost to escape, I’m afraid they won’t be able to hold you back.”
This seemed like an acknowledgment of the Angler’s abilities, but this just put the Angler even more on guard. He was bewildered, and he couldn’t figure out what Su Yi was trying to pull.
The Treasure Leaf Demon Ancestor watched from not far away. When he saw how Su Yi had filled the Angler with uncertainty, leaving him afraid to advance or retreat, he couldn’t help but grin. That insidious old schemer excels and nothing more than mental warfare and plotting.
Who could have imagined that this time, someone would manipulate him to such an extent?
“Schemes are, ultimately, a lesser Dao. When a schemer meets a powerful foe, they’re prone to second-guessing themselves at every turn. That means they’re already at a disadvantage in terms of momentum!” Off in the distance, the Butcher shook his head.
The Angler was terrifying, and dangerous, too.
But against an enemy as powerful as Su Yi, his plots, schemes, and hidden cards were all useless!
This was the disadvantage of psychological warfare. In a clash, it was strength that ultimately determined the victor, not schemes!
“He’s only acting like this because he’s bumped into Senior Su. I’m afraid anyone else would struggle to manipulate Old Man Providence like this,” Mu Bai said calmly.
“That’s right,” said the Butcher approvingly. “The Angler’s skill with mental warfare and schemes is the real deal, but there’s no denying his strength, either.”
Su Yi and the Angler heard every word of their conversation.
Su Yi laughed it off, but the Angler’s expression darkened. Bad enough that Su Yi was leading him around by the nose. Now, even the Butcher and that junior Mu Bai were openly discussing his inadequacies. He found this extremely displeasing.
But the Angler knew that none of that was important now. The current situation was surely far more perilous than he’d realized!
“A spectacle? Bullshit! If there’s really a spectacle, why hasn’t it started yet?” the Angler said coldly.
Su Yi laughed. “Don’t be in such a hurry. As the saying goes, no matter how frantic you are, you can’t eat your tofu until it cools down. You’ll be jumping and stamping with anger soon enough.”
The Angler snorted coldly. “Very well. I’ll be able to see just what kind of tricks a sword cultivator like you can muster!”
Su Yi was just about to respond when…
Boom!
The surrounding skies contorted and collapsed. The inky dome of heaven split and came crashing down.
Demon Ancestor Treasure Leaf bellowed, held his hands in front of him, and pushed.
Golden flames of the natural order surged forth, descending upon the air and severing the sky. It held the collapsing firmament firmly in place.
From a distance, he looked like a deity holding up the skies!
But at the same time, the Angler vanished into thin air.
This was outside most of the onlookers’ expectations. After all, earlier, the Angler had said that he was eager to see what kind of trick Su Yi was pulling, yet now, he’d turned and fled in a flash!
But Su Yi was accustomed to such things. He shook his head and whispered, “I just knew the old schemer would make a run for it.”
Bang!!
An earsplitting impact rang out beneath the distant dome of heaven. Divine radiance swept out like a windstorm.
Immediately afterward, a muffled grunt rang out. “Zang Wushu!! Since when were this despicable? When did you learn to ambush others in secret!?”
The Angler’s voice boomed throughout heaven and earth, tinged with fury.
The crowd looked over and saw an astonishing scene.
The Angler staggered backward. There was now a bloody, fist-sized hole through the left side of his chest. It went all the way through his back, staining his clothes red.
A streak of resplendent blue light had appeared in the distance, connecting heaven and earth and casting away the darkness.
An upright figure stood amidst that blue radiance, spear in hand. He was dressed in silver armor, and his whole body blazed with blue divine flames.
His imposing aura alone was enough to blanket the entire stretch of sky.
The Spear Demon, Zang Wushu!
“Brother Fuyou said that defeating someone like you requires, ah, special methods,” said Zang Wushu, his voice like the clanging of metal. Murderous intent swept outward in all directions.
“This guy… seems even more terrifying than before…” The Butcher’s eyes shone with strange light.
Zang Wushu’s attainments in the Dao of the Spear were absolutely unparalleled, unique in any age. No one else could match him!
There were even numerous people in the God Domain who honored Zang Wushu as “the Spear Ancestor!,” as they believed that his attainments in the Dao of the Spear had made history!
At the same time, the others present were stunned. This was their first time realizing that Su Yi hadn’t just invited Demon Ancestor Treasure Leaf; the unparalleled Spear Demon, Zang Wushu, had been hiding here all this time, too!
Zang Wushu didn’t attack any further. He just stood there, blocking the path.
Yet he seemed like an insurmountable wall. No one could get past him.
The Angler’s heart sank. He could say with certainty that Su Yi hadn’t come here in a panic. No, he’d prepared thoroughly!
But that only made it even more obvious that Su Yi planned to go all out, this time. He wanted to fight ot the bitter end!
Tha tmeant that if the Angler wanted to escape… it was sure to be difficult!
“Is this the ‘spectacle’ you mentioned earlier?” the Angler said coldly.
“No, these are just a few methods I prepared to counter you, that’s all,” Su Yi said casually. “And this is nothing at all, really. After all, anyone can call for reinforcements. That’s not enough to surprise or delight anybody. Naturally, it’s quite dull, too.”
The Angler’s eyelids twitched. “Forget it. I can chat with you for a bit. Perhaps… once you’ve learned my intentions, you’ll change your mind.”
Su Yi laughed and shook his head. “I’m in no mood to listen.”
Everyone was stunned. This response was a bit unexpected.
The Angler’s expression darkened.
The more Su Yi went off script, the more inscrutable he seemed, and the stronger the Angler’s sense of foreboding.
This was a universally acknowledged sword cultivator, but instead of decisively and straightforwardly going into battle, he was playing mind games!
It felt almost like watching a butcher take up embroidery.
The Angler finally felt on a visceral level that Su Yi really was different from Li Fuyou and Yi Daoxuan.
The Angler naturally knew that uncertainty and second-guessing oneself were taboo.
It was because of all his reservations that Su Yi had manipulated him. He might have seemed steady and cautious, but in truth, he’d already revealed his lack of confidence.
The Angler instantly steeled himself and made a decision. I’ve got to break through their encirclement. I can’t afford to wait any longer! Even if I have to pay a bit of a price, I can’t afford to be indecisive!
The Angler took a deep breath, and a talisman appeared in his right hand.
But just as he was about to break through their encirclement, Su Yi laughed. “The show has just begun!”
The Angler’s heart shook, but outwardly, he laughed coldly. “Bluffing again?”
Su Yi waved his sleeve through the air.
Boom!
A rain of light fell, then condensed into a curtain. It reflected a hidden realm, with verdant mountains, clear waters, and auspicious clouds.
The realm was home to an extensive mountain range and countless lakes, with pavilions, gazebos, and ancient halls built all over the place.
At the far end of the hidden realm, there lay a starry sky with a massive, mysterious celestial whirlpool at its center.
When the Angler saw this, his heart shook, and his body stiffened uncontrollably.
Indescribable shock, anger, unease, and confusion washed over him. He finally understood what kind of “spectacle” Su Yi had in mind!
But as astonished as he was, he maintained his outer calm.
“And here I thought you had something big in store. So, it seems you cannot kill me, so you’ve decided to destroy the Hidden Galaxy Realm I created instead.”
He gazed indifferently at Su Yi, then jeered, “If you’d said so earlier, I’d have happily given you this hidden realm to destroy as you saw fit!”
In other words, he didn’t care!
Su Yi laughed. “The location of the Divine Court of Providence has always been top secret in the God Domain. Almost no one knows of it.
“But recently, someone told me that it’s located in the Hidden Galaxy Realm.”
The Angler’s eyes narrowed, and he forcefully suppressed his unease. “So you’re saying you’ve found it?”
“That’s right. The eight hundred million, four thousand stars of the Hidden Galaxy Realm are actually a secret celestial formation. The formation isn’t overly profound, but it does invisibly seize a thread of mysteries of heaven!”
This time, the Angler finally lost his cool and roared, “Who told you!?”
Su Yi laughed, but instead of answering, he continued, “You used the stolen thread of heavenly mysteries to obscure the sect’s entrance. Thus, even now, almost no one knows the exact location of the Divine Court of Providence.
“To tell the truth, even I was in the dark until just recently. Fortunately, a few years ago, someone shared this lead with me.”
He waved his sleeve through the air, and the image of an ancient divine mountain floated into view.
The mountain stood amidst the stars, surrounded by a waterfall-like celestial river. It seemed incomparably holy.
Except that now, a shockingly fierce battle was underway on its slopes.
One figure after another, each like a sovereign of the nine heavens, shifted through the starry void, shattering the stars beneath their feet
Searing flames swept outward. Countless stars burned and withered.
The slopes of the ancient sacred mountain were covered in scenes of upheaval, chaos, and collapse. The numerous palaces lining its slopes fell, and countless figures scampered away in panic.
There was no sound, but the sight of this vision of destruction made it obvious how terrifying this battle was.
By now, everyone finally understood what kind of “spectacle” Su Yi had been talking about. The Angler’s home had been attacked!
The Angler, meanwhile, stared intently at the battle raging on the curtain of light, his expression shifted erratically. His thin face was ashen to the extreme.
He was furious!
