First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2400 - The Tribulation of the Five Witherings

Chapter 2400 – The Tribulation of the Five Witherings
The curtain of light reflected the Divine Court of Providence’s ancestral ground.
Except that now, a bloody battle was underway. The gates had collapsed, the towers had toppled, and the majestic mountains were severely damaged.
As the founder of the sect, the Angler’s heart convulsed at the sight of it, and his eyes reddened.
Agonizing! Far too agonizing! Ten thousand swords twisting in his heart felt gentle by comparison!
“Wonderful, Su Yi! You held me back here because your true intention was to destroy my sect and kill its disciples, huh?”
The Angler’s face was ashen, and he gnashed his teeth so hard that they almost broke. It was obvious to anyone that the long-famous old-timer was furious!
“That’s right,” said Su Yi. “Had you stayed there, I wouldn’t have been able to find an opportunity to pull this off, but you just had to come in person and attack a junior. How could I possibly have let such a wonderful opportunity slip through my fingers?”
The Angler’s expression was icy and tinged with hatred. “I would never have guessed that a sword cultivator like you would be so despicable!”
Su Yi sneered. “A tooth for a tooth, that’s all. Weren’t you just as despicable when you targeted me while I was still cultivating in the Immortal Realm?”
As he spoke, he waved his sleeve through the air, and the curtain of light dissipated.
The Angler’s expression shifted erratically. In the end, he took a deep breath and said, “I don’t understand. Just who told you how to find the Divine Court of Providence?”
It was indeed unbelievable, as the Angler had personally manipulated the inscrutable mysteries of fate to obscure the sect’s location, all for the sake of preventing his enemies from targeting it.
Given the circumstances, even if someone somehow located the Hidden Galaxy Realm he’d hidden the Divine Court of Providence in, they could forget about finding the entrance to the sect!
Yet Su Yi… had somehow done just that! This was what shocked the Angler most.
“The Dipankara Buddha didn’t tell you?” said Su Yi, his gaze hard to read.
“Him?” The Angler looked stunned.
“Strictly speaking, it was the hunchback who told me,” said Su Yi.
“What? Now it’s his fault? How could this have anything to do with him?” The Angler said coldly, “Su Yi, you’re just throwing blame around at random in a bid to destroy our trust, aren’t you?”
Su YI laughed. “If I’m not mistaken, the old hunchback’s soul is currently in the Dipankara Buddha’s hands. If you don’t believe me, why not ask him?”
The Angler remained outwardly expressionless. “Rest assured that I’ll get to the bottom of this!”
“Then what do you think of the show we put on today?” asked Su Yi. “Wasn’t it splendid?”
The corners of the Angler’s lips twitched. “I just found it vile!”
“Vile? Yes, that’s right,” said Su Yi. “Treasure Leaf, Old Brother Zang, you can attack now!”
Off in the distance, Zang Wushu hefted his spear and locked onto the Angler, eyes glinting with murderous intent.
At the same time, Treasure Leaf took a step forward, his gaze deep and intense. His austere murderous intent blanketed heaven and earth.
“Stop!” the Angler suddenly cried out. “Su Yi, don’t you care about Divine Venerate Luo Yao and the others’ lives and deaths?”
Su Yi’s brow furrowed slightly. He gestured for his allies to wait before asking, “What do you mean?”
“What do I mean? The situation in the Boundless Battlefield has changed. Your old friends are still trapped inside, and they might well meet their ends at a moment’s notice!” said the Angler. He took out a jade slip, then passed it to Su Yi. “Have a look. Then you’ll understand!”
Su Yi accepted the jade slip and examined it briefly. His brow knit together.
A few years prior, when Su Yi was still exploring the River of Epochs, Di E personally sealed the entrance to the Boundless Battlefield. The Boundless Battlefield had essentially vanished from the God Domain since. No one could enter, and no one could leave.
But although few on the outside knew it, the Boundless Battlefield itself had changed then, too.
The Tribulation of the Five Witherings had descended, and it specifically targeted gods. Those affected would be crippled if they were lucky. The rest would perish, their Daos destroyed.
The Tribulation of the Five Witherings was similar to the Epoch Tribulations that destroyed entire epoch civilizations. It was incomparably calamitous and taboo.
However, it was still strictly limited to the Boundless Battlefield, and it hadn’t reached the God Domain. Thus, the vast majority of people weren’t aware of it.
The jade slip the Angler gave him recorded information about the Tribulation of the Five Witherings, as well as the imprint of a scene.
The scene depicted an ancient, glittering golden mountain. Its towering slopes connected heaven and earth, and its surface was completely covered in fierce, churning currents of lava-like lightning.
Thunder Origin Golden Mountain!
Su Yi recognized it at a glance. This was a forbidden zone within the Boundless Battlefield. They called it “the Source of Annihilation.”
Strange, blood-red clouds now hung over Thunder Origin Golden Mountain. The churning clouds gave rise to endless inscrutable and strange tribulation light, corroding the firmament and creating countless rifts.
When the light cleaved into the mountainsides, it tore open startling chasms, melting entire areas as if they were nothing!
“The jade slip displays the Tribulation of the Five Witherings. It appears in the form of blood-red tribulation clouds, but wherever its light falls, entire landscapes are corroded and destroyed. Everything it touches withers,” the Angler said softly. “By now, vestiges of the Tribulation of the Five Witherings can be found all over the Boundless Battfield. They’re rapidly destroying it. Countless inhabitants of the Boundless Battlefield have perished. Not even those places considered forbidden zones are exempt from destruction.
“Given the circumstances, I’m afraid your old friends won’t be able to escape the threat of the Tribulation of the Five Witherings, either!”
Everyone’s brows furrowed. They could tell that the Angler had brought this up because he wanted to negotiate with Su Yi.
Indeed, the Angler continued, “If you’re willing to end things here, I wouldn’t mind teaching you how to enter the Boundless Battlefield.”
Everyone looked at Su Yi, especially his old friend, Zang Wushu. He knew better than anyone how much Luo Yao and the others mattered to Su Yi.
Su Yi pondered briefly, then said to Zang Wushu and Treasure Leaf, “No need to waste your breath on the old man. Just attack him.”
Zang Wushu was stunned, but in the end, he said nothing. He and Treasure Leaf just attacked directly.
Clang!
A spear cleaved through the sky, overturning creation and inverting Yi and Yang.
At the same time, Demon Ancestor Treasure Leaf formed a seal, manifesting a boundlessly vast demonic domain and enveloping heaven and earth.
Both were terrifying existences. One attacked, the other defending, and they worked together with tacit understanding. Both were doing their utmost to keep their powerful enemy, the Angler, from leaving.
The Angler was stunned. Even if you’d hit him over the head, he would never have guessed that Su Yi would just disregard his old friends’ lives like that. He was blatantly casting aside all pretenses of cordiality!
But he had no time to give the matter any further thought. He attacked with all his might.
Boom!
Practically simultaneously, the Angler took out his life-saving trump cards. He wasn’t trying to hurt his enemies. All he wanted was to break through their encirclement.
Thus, right from the moment the battle began, it was incomparably fierce. The night sky was ripped to shreds, and countless dazzling lights whooshed outward, as if the very dome of heaven itself had collapsed, and as if the earth were caving in.
The mountains and rivers, the landscape in all its facets, was enveloped and annihilated within that current of destructive power.
Just too terrifying!
This was a blood-soaked battle between ruling experts. It could shake entire territories, throwing celestial phenomena into disarray!
Zang Wushu’s Dao of the Spear was unparalleled, enough to astonish any age. Where his spear pointed, nothing could stop his advance.
The Treasure Leaf Demon Ancestor’s methods of interception were meticulous; not even a drop of water could get past him. The world he manifested sealed the entire stretch of heaven and earth, blocking the Angler’s repeated attempts to break free.
One attacked, one defended. Both unparalleled figure’s terrifyingness was on full display.
But it wouldn’t do to overlook the Angler, either. He had countless cards up his sleeves, and his methods were highly versatile. His strength was terrifying, too. Even in the face of his pincer attack, he managed to hold on in a display of utterly shocking power.
Su Yi stood there, calmly watching the battle with his hands behind his back.
Unlike his other major enemies, the Angler was so dangerous because he had so many cards, and because he was so crafty. Ordinary people couldn’t possibly defend themselves against his endless killer moves and wondrous methods.
Thus, Su Yi was taking the slow and steady approach to defeating him. He and his allies gradually increased the pressure, doing everything in their power to suppress the Angler and affect his will to fight.
The Angler had little will to fight left. After all, he was an old man just looking to escape his encirclement and flee with his life. How could he have had any “will to fight” to speak of?
This was, naturally, because of the methods Su Yi had revealed earlier. They’d worn away the Angler’s will to fight, bit by bit, making him sense the peril. He in no way dared to linger in battle.
Even though he was giving it his all, he was just trying to escape, not to kill his enemies!
To Su Yi, that was enough. He had no desire to see the Angler drag one of his friends down to the grave with him.
Within just ten or so breaths of time, the Angler was left riddled with wounds!
In a head-on clash, he could at most contend with Zang Wushu. Add Demon Ancestor Treasure Leaf to the mix, and he was struggling to hold his own.
But although it seemed as if he were covered in blood, his flesh ripped open, and although he looked utterly wretched, his wounds weren’t actually severe.
At the same time, Zang Wushu, Treasure Leaf, and the others had been injured by the killer weapons the Angler had used to try and break through their encirclement.
But to the two of them, minor wounds like that were nothing at all. Both were long-experienced old-timers. They’d fought countless times in their lives. What bloodshed and brutality hadn’t they experienced before? How could wounds like these have bothered them?
Even so, this brutal, heart-palpitating confrontation made their hearts quiver with fright.
“I said it earlier. If I give it my all, no holds barred, you cannot stop me, not even if you work together!” the Angler roared, his eyes bloodshot and his hair loose and disheveled. He looked utterly hideous and terrifying.
Boom!
His whole body lit up with silver flames of the natural order, like burning arcs of divine light shooting into the sky.
“Admittedly, I’ll pay a grievous price, but you can forget about harming a hair on my head!!” The Angler seemed to have gone insane. He roared in fury, and a massive silver hook appeared amidst the endless silver flames.
It was like a glittering silver crescent moon hanging from the sky.
Strange, taboo power spread outward, permeating heaven and earth.
The Sky-Stealing Hook!
Su Yi’s eyes narrowed.
They said that this mystery of chaos could seize the mysteries of fate, finding a path to life even in the face of certain doom. It was the most wondrous and mystical of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos!
It was then that Su Yi took out the Sword of Proximity.
And over by Mu Bai, the Blade of Heaven’s Loathing shot into the firmament.
The hum of a sword swept out like the tides.
The call of the saber boomed like thunder.
Both sword and saber unleashed incomparably terrifying pressure that bore down on the crescent-moon-shaped Sky-Stealing Hook.
Then, something unbelievable happened.
The Sky-Stealing Hook shook violently, as if struggling to break free of the Angler’s control.
This sudden development caught the Angler completely off guard!
