First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2462 - The Trend is Set

Chapter 2462 – The Trend is Set
Astral winds swept outward. Heaven and earth were desolate.
The battle had come to an end. Master God Tian Huang had died in battle, while Master Gods Yun He and Yun Xiao had fled.
Outside the battlefield, the aftershock of their clash had taken so many lives that it was difficult to track.
But then, flies were endlessly irritating. Few would care when they perished.
The people tailing Su Yi, like scavengers following a dying prey animal, desperate to take a bite out of him, were flies in Su Yi’s eyes.
“Now that Ol’ Tian Huang is dead, I actually feel rather empty inside, as if I’m missing something,” laughed Jian Dushan.
“Enemies are like whetstones. We’ve been using this particular whetstone for so long that it’s about time we switched to a new one,” said Ji Heng.
“It’s just a pity that we couldn’t stop Yun He and Yun Xiao from leaving,” said Wen Qingfeng. He was obviously nursing a grudge. He was confident that they could have prevented the Yun apprentice brothers from leaving If that mysterious little girl hadn’t shown up
“Enough with all that depressing talk,” someone else said. “With Di E here, we’d have been doomed if not for Brother Fuyou.”
The others instantly cleared their heads. It was true. Di E was being extraordinarily patient, to the point that he dared not get directly involved in battle.
But they dared not underestimate him. All of them knew that a Half-Step Eternal like Di E was no craven. If he was enduring in silence, he surely had his reasons.
And his reservations undoubtedly had something to do with Su Yi.
“Who knows what Di E is thinking? I can say for sure that if he refused to show himself this time, we most likely won’t see him again until the Dark Days of Legend,” Su Yi said casually.
Just over twenty years remained until the Dark Days of Legend. Numerous unforeseen variables and changes were sure to arise during that time.
The perceptive would all choose to lie low until then, staying out of trouble and preparing to welcome the world’s changes.
“I just wonder how many enemies are still hiding nearby.” Wen Qingfeng scanned their surroundings.
This battle had caused an enormous commotion. It had undoubtedly drawn the attention of numerous powerful figures.
However, none of them had stepped forth.
“Not even Di E dares to come out into the open. Anyone else would just be throwing their lives away,” said Jian Dushan, passing the Realm-Demarcating Ruler to Su Yi.
Su Yi gazed intently at the ruler. Now that Master God Tian Huang was dead, the ruler was an ownerless treasure.
Now, I’m just missing the Writing Brush of Genesis, and I’ll have the full set, thought Su Yi.
The Writing Brush of Genesis was the most mysterious of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos. After its birth within the Immortal Realm’s chaos source, it had vanished. No one had seen it since.
Not even the Blade of Heaven’s Loathing or the Sword of Proximity knew where the brush had gone, nor could they sense its presence.
Thus, the Writing Brush of Genesis, the first of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos, was effectively just a bundle of mysteries.
“Come on, let’s get out of here,” said Su Yi, putting away the Realm-Demarcating Ruler.
Next, he left this crumbling, withered landscape surrounded by old friends.
A handsome young man watched their departure from the shadows. His brow furrowed. Just where did that rusted sheath come from? Isn’t it a bit too unreasonably strong?
This was the owner of the Book of Legends, a terrifying existence from the River of Destiny.
He’d left the Boundless Battlefield a year ago out of caution for Su Yi and his treasures.
However, he was unwilling to accept this outcome, so he hadn’t really left. Instead, he’d lingered outside the Hazy Sea Forbidden Zone. He’d watched Su Yi and Di E’s unparalleled showdown with his own two eyes.
He saw the chaotic battle that followed it, too.
The young man sighed to himself, I can’t offend that guy lightly, not before I’ve figured out that blasted sheath’s origins.
He’d been waiting for an opportunity all this time. When he saw Su Yi’s injuries earlier, he barely resisted the urge to strike.
But the outcome proved that he’d been right to hold back. Had he given into temptation, he might well have lost the Book of Legends by now!
Forget it. I’ll spend the next few years preparing, and when the Dark Days of Legend arrive, I can return with my true body. I’ll play with Su Yi then!
With that, the young man turned to leave.
……
A hidden realm carved into the void.
“How are your wounds, Your Excellency?” When Di E saw the little girl, he rushed up to her.
“I lost a bit of my origin power, that’s all,” said the little girl, her gaze cold and indifferent. “Now do you understand why I stopped you from getting involved?”
Di E instantly fell silent, his expression shifting. He’d watched the entire battle earlier, and he’d planned on joining in, only for the little girl to appear and stop him.
It was then that he realized that, as heavy as Su Yi’s wounds were, he wasn’t in any way at the end of his rope!
That aside, Wen Qingfeng and the others’ arrival had surprised Di E, too.
Before his duel with Su Yi, he’d sneered at Su Yi’s talk of friendship, but now, he was starting to understand. This was the friendship forged when allies faced life and death side-by-side. Wen Qingfeng and the others’ actions were clear proof of that.
Still, from the bottom of his heart, Di E didn’t care about such things. The way he saw it, Su Yi was still the driving force behind the outcome of today’s battle!
Without Su Yi, it wouldn’t matter how many old friends like Wen Qingfeng had shown up; they wouldn’t have been much of a threat.
“Your Excellency, can you determine that sheath’s origins?” asked Di E.
Su Yi had used the sheath back at the battle of Skybright Mountain, too. It was then that Di E and the little girl first realized it existed.
However, even now, neither of them knew its origins, or what kind of treasure it was.
Still, there was one thing they knew for sure. It was terrifyingly strong!
“I don’t know.” The little girl shook her head. “But I can say with some degree of certainty that it isn’t invincible.”
Di E’s spirits soared. “What do you mean?”
“The sheath’s power is limited by Su Yi’s cultivation base. Thus, the power it can display is limited,” said the little girl. “Seems to me that an Eternal Dao Weapon ought to be enough to suppress it!”
An Eternal Dao Weapon?
Di E’s heart shook. Those were treasures only found on the River of Destiny, and only Eternal Dao Lords could refine them!
They were almost impossible to find in the God Domain!
“We’ll just have to wait until the Dark Days of Legend,” said the little girl. “Then, the natural order of the God Domain will collapse, and the people and forces of the River of Destiny will be able to descend unimpeded.
She paused, then changed tacks. “Earlier, I told you that clashes of the Grand Dao come down to strength, not external powers.
“I saw your battle with Su Yi. Although you are stronger than him, his latent potential is far too terrifying. As I’m sure you noticed, he wanted to use your battle to break through. Had he gotten what he wanted, he’d have closed much of the distance between you.
“Twenty years remain until the Dark Days of Legend. I don’t even need to think to know that Su Yi’s strength will soar during that time.
“You, however, are already a Half-Step Eternal. You have no hope of advancing any further prior to the Dark Days of Legend. You cannot grow like Su Yi can.”
Di E’s brow furrowed, but he said nothing.
How could he not have understood that already? It had been just over a year since Su Yi had broken into the Undying Realm, but he was already this terrifying. As he realized further breakthroughs, his strength would naturally increase!
In this regard, he really couldn’t compare with Su Yi.
“It’s time to make a decision,” said the little girl. “If you agree, I’ll take you to the Little Limitless Heavens to undergo the Burning Heart Trials.
“Even if you last until the end, your cultivation won’t advance. However, your Dao Heart, physique, and soul will unleash more of their latent potential, and your overall strength will transform as thoroughly as if you’d been reborn.”
She paused, then said, “But if you cannot take it… you might well survive, but you’ll inevitably pay a heavy price. It’s entirely possible that you’ll lose… the foundations needed to bring order to the world.”
Di E’s expression shifted slightly.
The Heart-Burning Trials!
This was a brutal trial in a hidden realm known as the Little Limitless Heavens. A prominent expert of the River of Destiny had built the trials personally.
Di E had learned of the Heart-Burning Trials a long time ago, but he’d never been willing to take them. It was too dangerous. The slightest misstep would come at an enormous cost.
Moreover, the way he saw it, there’d been no need to risk it. He was already a Half-Step Eternal, after all.
But now, the threat of Su Yi’s rapidly growing strength made him feel a powerful sense of impending crisis.
Di E didn’t take long to think before gnashing his teeth and accepting the little girl’s offer.
“You’re the Bringer of Order I chose, so I’ll naturally do my utmost to ensure you survive the Heart-Burning Trial,” said the little girl. “Still, you’ll ultimately have to rely on yourself.”
Di E nodded.
The girl said suddenly, “In today’s battle, I paid a price to save Yun He and Yun Xiao. Tell them to do everything they can to interfere with everything Su Yi tries to accomplish prior to the Dark Days of Legend.”
Di E agreed. They might not be able to kill Su Yi, but they could harass him and distract him with trifles, forcing him to run too and fro. He wouldn’t be able to focus on his cultivation then!
……
That very day, word of Su Yi’s return from the Boundless Battlefield took the world by storm.
Master God Tian Huang was dead! Yun He and Yun Xiao had fled for their lives!
Even Di E had been there, but he’d hidden himself, not daring to fight personally!
When word spread, it caused an enormous commotion and triggered massive waves of uproar.
“After lying low for just over a year, Su Yi’s already proven his Dao and become a Master God!?”
“He even brought Wen Qingfeng, Ji Heng, Jian Dushan, and a bunch of old monsters back from the Boundless Battlefield!”
“My heavens!”
“The world… is really going to descend into chaos now!”
Uproar arose throughout the God Domain. Countless hearts shook.
Even the factions at the top of the God Domain were startled. None could remain calm. All of them could sense how extraordinary this development was.
The God Domain’s long-established balance of power might well fall apart!
Because Su Yi hadn’t just broken into the Undying Realm. He now had a whole group of ancient Nine-Tribulation Master Gods working with him!
Add Zang Wushu, Wan Zitian, and his other old friends, and this was a lineup sufficient to threaten any top faction beneath the heavens!
And to shift the entire God Domain’s balance of power!
That was the most terrifying part of all this.
Meanwhile, in the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains.
When word reached the Dipankara Buddha, he sat in silence beneath the bodhi tree for quite some time before sighing, “The trend… is now firmly in Su Yi’s favor!”
