First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2542 - Borrowing a Saber

Chapter 2542 – Borrowing a Saber
Beneath the dome of heaven.
Su Yi gazed down at everything happening in the Ravening Wolf Forbidden Zone from on high.
The whole forbidden zone was covered in criss-crossing gashes. If all went as he expected, he’d need just three more strikes to eradicate it completely!
But…
Su Yi furrowed his brow. He’d repeatedly drawn on the power of the Sword of the Nine Hells, giving it all he had. His cultivation base was already severely depleted.
Three more strikes would surely drain it completely!
All of this was because the Laws of the God Domain high in the dome of heaven had collapsed and fallen like rain. They were no longer there for Su Yi to borrow.
Otherwise, he’d have long since guided their power and used it to eradicate the Ravening Wolf Forbidden Zone!
That was how he’d destroyed the Thunderwind Sea, the base of the Great Yin Divine Race.
Hm? As Su Yi’s thoughts raced, the third-generation patriarch of the Ravening Wolf Forbidden Zone, Lu Daoyuan, bellowed.
A killer weapon? Su Yi’s eyebrows rose, and his pupils constricted.
A streak of silver flames shot out of the forbidden zone. It was as radiant as starlight, and it emanated hints of dreamlike fire.
Upon closer inspection, it was a saber!
The saber was four feet long, thin, and sharp. The hilt was covered in bloody bandages.
When the saber shot into the firmament, a dense, almost tangible bloody aura spread throughout heaven and earth.
The dome of heaven dimmed. The churning blood-red qi spread outward, extending into the far reaches of the Endless Ocean.
The Master Gods throughout its waters were instantly alerted. What’s going on?
Over on Sunset Perch Island, Luo Qingdi and the others reacted, too. Their eyes narrowed. Unearthly, unsettling, blood-red light appeared beneath the formerly overcast skies.
It was as if the entire ocean had descended into a bloody purgatory!
Luo Qingdi’s heart quivered with fright, and chills coursed down his spine. He felt a powerful sense of impending crisis.
What’s going on?
Bloody light swept forth in waves, spreading throughout the Endless Ocean. It was like witnessing the descent of a strange, terrifying disaster.
Everyone was ill at ease.
…
The Blue Sparrow Forbidden Zone.
This was another of the three spacetime forbidden zones in the Endless Ocean, the base of another of the Epoch of Sumeru’s top factions, the Blue Sparrow Daoist Court.
When that strange, blood-red light filled the dome of heaven, the old-timers of Blue Sparrow Daoist Court were instantly alert.
“The Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber!”
The saber saw heaven and earth as purgatory, and it made sacrifices of blood.
This was the Ravening Wolf Daoist Court’s sect-protecting treasure. The old-timers of Blue Sparrow Daoist Court recognized it at a glance.
It was an Eternal treasure famed for bloodthirst and slaughter!
It had been stained with the blood of gods and Eternals alike. Countless living beings had perished beneath its edge. It was the most famous vicious weapon of the Epoch of Sumeru!
“Just what kind of trouble must have befallen them for them to be forced to draw their sect-protecting treasure?” the old-timers wondered out loud.
They knew that the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber was too ferocious to use lightly. It was unearthly and bloodthirsty. If they lost control of it, there was a high risk of backlash!
A similar scene played out in the region’s third spacetime forbidden zone, the Flying Serpent Forbidden Zone.
Bloody light stained the firmament red, transforming the sky into a vision of purgatory of dense, churning murderous intent.
As vast as the Endless Ocean was, the saber’s ferocity startled everyone in it.
Su Yi sensed an intense, impending threat bearing down on his body, heart, and soul. All three felt prickling pain.
The murderous energy emanating from the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber seemed almost tangible. It could rip the sky to shred and slay Nine-Tribulation Master Gods with ease!
Su Yi’s gaze was instantly solemn. He’d seen numerous terrifying weapons over the years, but… none could compare to this one in terms of sheer ferocity!
Even just gazing at it from afar was enough to send chills coursing through his entire body.
The most terrifying part was that the weapon’s ferocious aura blanketed the nine heavens and the ten earths, enveloping everything on all sides. There was nowhere to hide!
Simply put, no matter where he tried to flee, the saber would be able to lock onto him!
But Su Yi didn’t plan to flee. He’d never feared a clash of external treasures.
Lu Daoyuan’s icy shout boomed throughout heaven and earth. “Cut!”
Boom!
The Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber rumbled and boomed. Bloody light flowed along its edge, and all of the far-reaching murderous intent cleaved at Su Yi. It was like a tidal wave or avalanche pouring in from all sides, terrifying beyond limit.
Even the patriarchs watching from inside the Ravening Wolf Forbidden Zone looked excited. It had been a long, long time since they’d last used the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber. When they witnessed its indomitable ferocity, they couldn’t help but sigh to themselves.
What person beneath the Eternal level could possibly withstand such sharpness?
They’d only just thought this when… Clang!!
A massive impact rang out. The dome of heaven suddenly overturned, the skies thrown into chaos. Dazzling, blood-red saber light swept outward.
Lu Duyuan’s excited expression froze amidst the interweaving firelight. His eyes bulged.
He’d just watched as Su Yi stretched out his hand amidst all that chaos, and… blocked the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber!
A rusted sword sheath had appeared in his hand. It was entirely unassuming, yet it had somehow blocked the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber!
Once blocked, the raging destructive power of the saber vanished without a trace.
“This…” Lu Daoyuan and the others’ hearts shook. They found this hard to believe.
“This saber really is quite terrifying. Unfortunately, it seems you haven’t really mastered it, so you cannot display the full extent of its power,” said Su Yi.
His handsome face was pallid, and the hands gripping the sheath dripped striking red blood.
The rusted sheath had neutralized this attack, but its terrifying power was still enough to deal Su Yi massive damage. He was injured!
But that was the extent of it. He’d been injured worse before. He naturally wouldn’t concern himself with this.
“Cut!!” Lu Daoyuan bellowed and worked with the other patriarchs to power the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber once more.
Su Yi swung the rusted sheath and clashed with it head-on.
Boom!!
This time, he was forced several thousand feet back. His skin was torn and seeping blood in numerous places, staining his blood red.
Ravening Wolf Daoist Court was deathly silent. Even the patriarchs were visibly stunned; they almost dared not believe their eyes.
The Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber could slay all enemies beneath the Eternal level!
It was the greatest killer weapon in the Epoch of Sumeru!
Who could have imagined that an Undying Realm expert like Su Yi would block it twice in a row?
“So many of you joined forces. Your ranks include Half-Step Eternals and False Eternals, and you’re even using an unparalleled ferocious weapon, but it seems… it still isn’t enough,” Su Yi said softly.
He spoke quietly, but every word echoed clearly throughout heaven and earth.
Lu Daoyuan and the others’ expressions were instantly unsightly.
Meanwhile, Su Yi raised the rusted sheath once more.
“Wait!” Lu Daoyuan called out.
The sheath was far too sinister, and it could somehow block the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber. It was unquestionably far too terrifying. If Su Yi used the rusted sheath again, the consequences…
The very thought was enough to make Lu Daoyuan’s heart quiver!
“What, are you afraid?” Su Yi laughed dryly.
Lu Daoyuan took a deep breath, then lowered the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber. Only then did he say, “If things go on like this, both sides will suffer heavy injuries. That won’t do either of us any good. Don’t you agree?”
The other patriarchs’ expressions were dark, but none of them objected. They could tell that Lu Daoyuan wanted to smooth things over.
Everything was on account of the rusted sword sheath. They dared not gamble, because if they lost, they wouldn’t just lose the Ravening Wolf Forbidden Zone. Who knew how many of their members would perish?
The cost would be far too great.
More importantly, by this point of the battle, none of them were confident that they could defeat Su Yi!
“You want to negotiate?” Su Yi laughed.
“That would be our wisest course of action,” said Lu Daoyuan, forcefully suppressing his humiliation and frustration. He said gravely, “We’re willing to make concessions so that this can end here. What do you say?”
Su Yi said calmly, “You’re dreaming.”
Lu Daoyuan’s expression darkened. “You killed over one hundred of our experts today, and we’re still willing to make peace. We’ve been more than accommodating. Surely you aren’t going to tell me that our sincerity is insufficient?”
Su Yi said directly, “If you can’t beat me, just say so. If you want to negotiate, agree to my conditions. No more nonsense.”
He wasn’t the least bit polite. He was rebuking Lu Daoyuan to his face. This infuriated everyone in Ravening Wolf Daoist Court, leaving them gnashing their teeth in hatred.
Lu Daoyuan fell briefly silent. “Please tell me your conditions, Fellow Daoist Su.”
The sight of him swallowing this abuse left his allies feeling deeply conflicted. Still, the patriarchs were relieved to see that Su Yi was at least willing to negotiate.
They couldn’t afford to keep fighting!
The situation had forced their hand, and they couldn’t risk any further conflict. Their only choice was to hold their noses, gnash their teeth, and bury their anger deep within their hearts!
“I have three conditions,” said Su Yi, raising three fingers. “First, give up the person who hurt Wan Zitian.”
Lu Daoyuan’s brow furrowed. “Wan Zitian survived his injuries. We’re willing to compensate him to smooth this over, but… don’t ask us to give up the culprit!”
As a patriarch of the sect, if he gave up one of their own in the face of a threat, everyone in the sect would lose faith in him!
Su Yi pondered briefly. “Very well, but if your ‘sincerity’ is insufficient, I won’t agree.”
The crowd’s eyelids twitched and their hearts clenched. Who could have missed that Su Yi wanted to seize this opportunity to bleed them dry?
After all, wasn’t he the one who got to decide whether their “sincerity” was sufficient or not?
Nonetheless, Lu Daoyuan compromised. “Very well.”
“My second condition,” said Su Yi. “Going forward, if I discover that anyone from Ravening Wolf Daoist Court has targeted someone from Sunset Perch Island, I’ll return to level the place, and I won’t spare a single one of you. You won’t get a second chance to negotiate.”
He called this a condition, but it was really a threat. The cultivators of Ravening Wolf Daoist Court were increasingly uncomfortable.
But none of them dared to object.
Lu Daoyuan actually sighed in relief. As threatening as that sounded, he wouldn’t have to pay any further price right now. It was no big deal to agree to that.
“And now, for my third condition.” Su Yi pointed at the Blood-Soaked Purgatory Saber. “Lend that blade to me for a bit.”
