First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2554 - The Shattered Heart Battlefield

Chapter 2554 – The Shattered Heart Battlefield
Chaos fiends!
Strictly speaking, the little monkey, Xin Yuan, was one such creature, too.
Except that the little monkey was born of the Immortal Realm’s chaos, while these strangely shaped fiends were obviously born of the God Domain’s!
I would never have guessed that I’d ever get the sense to see chaos fiends in the present day. Su Yi was quietly shocked.
These creatures had faded into obscurity long ago, when the Five Ages of the Supremes ended, vanishing into the river of history.
Throughout the ages, they’d existed only in rumor. No living chaos fiends had ever been spotted.
Yi Daoxuan had lived and died without ever laying eyes on one. The same went for Li Fuyou.
Yet now, Su Yi had found some. A whole pack had appeared at the bottom of the pit in the Barren Mountains of Divine Calamity!
Su Yi couldn’t help but find this surprising.
The river water coursed into the distance beneath the night sky.
A dozen or so figures lay sprawled out on the ground beside the altar, all of them Undying Realm Master Gods.
All of them were unconscious. They just lay there, unmoving.
Su Yi noticed that these were the very same “prey” that the red-robed old man from Heavenly Yao Tower had just flung into the pit.
Who’d have guessed that the moment they arrived, they’d just become the chaos fiends’ prey instead…? It was truly brutal!
But… Su Yi suddenly realized that his situation wasn’t any better/
He’d only just thought this when the red-haired man with the vertical eye and four arms suddenly looked his way and said, “There’s another one. Bring him over, too.”
The four-armed man walked over and reached for Su Yi. He wasn’t using his cultivation base; it was as if he were casually picking an object off the ground.
Don’t tell me he thinks I’m unconscious? Su Yi’s thoughts raced, but in the end, he decided not to resist.
Whoosh!
The four-armed man picked up him, carried him over to the altar, and tossed him to the ground. Then, he took a portion of divine flame, held it aloft, and pressed it against Su Yi’s forehead.
Su Yi instantly sensed a mystical power coursing into his body, but he didn’t resist. He just let it flow into him.
Before long, this strange power condensed into a flame totem and imbedded itself in his foundations in the Grand Dao.
The four-armed man then put the flame back on the altar.
“Alright. Even if the outsiders awaken, so long as the Divine Flame Totems remain, they can forget about escaping our eyes and ears,” said the four-armed man.
The other chaos fiends nodded. They’d seen this sort of thing so often that it meant nothing to them.
One of them asked, “What’s this new arrival’s cultivation base?”
The four-armed man froze, then furrowed his brow. “I tested him with the divine flame, but I couldn’t discern his true cultivation. That said, experience tells me he’s most likely above the Five-Tribulation level.”
The snake-headed spearman nodded and ordered, “In that case, send him and the other higher-level experts to the Shattered Heart Battlefield. Leave the rest as sacrificial offerings.”
“Understood.”
Before long, the chaos fiends got to work. Two of them carried Su Yi and five comatose Master Gods off.
Two other chaos fiends carried the others elsewhere.
A blood-red beast skin carried Su Yi and the others through the air.
The four-armed man with the vertical eye was the one guiding it. He was accompanied by a charming woman with three blood-red fox tails, pointed ears, and red eyes.
She had an extraordinary, curvaceous figure, with skin as white as snow. She wore only a form-fitting fur dress cut low, exposing much of the snowy skin of her ample breasts.
She lounged languidly on the blood-red beast skin, smiling as she looked Su Yi and the others over and licked her lips. “I’d just love to take just one of them for a snack. Their flesh and blood are full of Undying power. I’m sure they’re a first-rate delicacy.”
“Don’t be in such a rush. If they cannot make it out of the Shattered Heart Battlefield alive, they won’t be worthy of serving us. When that happens, they’ll naturally become our next meal,” said the four-armed man, pulling the charming woman into his arms. All four of his hands started exploring her freely.
The woman laughed, not the least bit bothered. “It’s a promise. Keep one for me. I love nothing more than devouring hearts and souls whole.”
The four-armed man’s breathing sped up. “Rest assured. I’ll keep one for you!”
He pushed the woman beneath him, his voice hoarse. “Quick, help me.”
The woman looked at him, then decided to play hard to get. “Our prey are still here.”
“The Five Aggregates Origin Power invaded their souls. Even the Nine-Tribulation Master Gods are completely comatose. How could they possibly see anything?” said the man, suddenly impatient. He pushed himself onto the woman.
Su Yi was, of course, merely feigning unconsciousness. He was completely speechless. Even if he didn’t want to see it, he could hear their hurried breathing and moaning.
Are chaos fiends really so uninhibited with their dual cultivation?
Su Yi suddenly recalled that, since chaos fiends were born of primordial chaos, they had innate bloodline power and divine abilities. Their powers of the Grand Dao were perfect and complete from the moment of their birth.
When the vast majority of cultivators were still struggling in their pursuit of the Grand Dao, the chaos fiends were already lofty, superior gods!
The strongest of the chaos fiends were like ancestors of the Dao. They could threaten the lives of even Master Gods!
There were even rumors that the most ancient among the chaos fiends had unbelievably powerful divine abilities. They could freely disregard even Master Gods!
Chaos fiends’ cultivation was unique, too. They only cultivated their strength, and not their hearts. All of their efforts were devoted to excavating their latent potential and the power of their natal source energies.
As beings born of chaos, they weren’t at all afraid of divine tribulations or other disasters, either!
Naturally, they didn’t care about customs, etiquette, logic, or ethics, either.
That was what led to the dual cultivation session playing out right in front of Su Yi. It was thus obvious that this pair had no reservations. All they wanted to satisfy their lusts.
Su Yi cast aside his scattered thoughts and paid the lovers no further heed. Instead, he extracted a wisp of his divine sense to examine the scenery along the way.
The world in the pit wasn’t like he expected. This place had likely existed for a long, long time, shrouded in eternal darkness. The sky was dotted with unearthly, blood-red stars.
The mountains and rivers all had an ancient, primeval air about them. It felt as if Su Yi had been transported back to the days of the first parting of the primordial chaos.
This might seem like the bottom of a pit, but in truth, it’s a whole other separate world, thought Su Yi.
Unlike other hidden realms, the hidden realm at the bottom of the pit was permeated with dense, primordial chaos energy.
Like a world created amidst the chaos.
From this, it wasn’t hard to guess why this place was home to chaos fiends long absent from the outside world. In a sense, this hidden realm was a holdover from the first parting of the God Domain’s primordial chaos!
And it had always retained its ancient, primeval quality.
Numerous questions flooded Su Yi’s heart. Have all of the experts who’ve entered the pit become the chaos fiends’ prisoners?
Does that mean that something bad has happened to the Heaven-Swallowing Toad Ancestor and Hong Taiyu?
Why do the fiends want to use those Master Gods beneath the Five-Tribulation level as sacrificial offerings?
Why send those above that level to the Shattered Heart Battlefield? And just what kind of dangers are hidden there?
As Su Yi pondered, the four-armed man finished, let out a deep breath, and got off the woman. As he straightened up his clothes, he said, “It’s a shame, but we don’t have enough time. We’ll reach the Shattered Heart Battlefield soon.”
The woman said suddenly, “Ming Ke, do you know when the Ancient Fiend will bring us to the God Domain?”
“It won’t be long,” said the four-armed man, Ming Ke. “The Ancient Fiend said that the God Domain’s chaos source is dissipating. Eventually, our Heaven-Combating Hidden Realm will collapse, too. When it does, the Ancient will surely bring all of us out of here.”
“I hope that day comes quickly,” the woman said eagerly. “The God Domain was originally ours to begin with. How could we possibly let those ant-like races dominate it forever?”
“Times have changed,” sighed Ming Ke. “The Ancient said that if we want to establish ourselves in the God Domain, we’ll have to overcome countless bloody, brutal battles. That is… unless we one day manage to bring order to the world!”
As they conversed, blood-red light suddenly lit up the distant skies.
Upon closer inspection, it emanated from a vast, lifeless plain. The earth was black, and nothing grew there, not even an inch of grass.
A massive, ancient ritual ground stood at its center. The ritual ground was the source of the blood-red light. It shot into the heavens, dyeing the entire stretch of heaven and earth red!
“We’re here.” Ming Ke steered the beast skin toward the ritual grounds.
“Ming Ke, how many prisoners do you have for me this time?”
A team of chaos fiends was stationed just outside the ritual grounds. One of them was a thousand feet tall and clad entirely in golden armor. He’d risen into the air to welcome Ming Ke and his companion.
“Six,” said the four-armed Ming Ke.
He raised his hand, and the six Master Gods—Su Yi included—rose into the air and landed before the thousand-foot-tall, golden-armored chaos fiend.
“Your Excellency Jin Ba, can we begin the Shattered Heart Trial now?” asked Ming Ke.
“We can.” The giant, Jin Ba, nodded. “Wake them up and tell them what they must endure if they wish to survive.”
The four-armed man nodded. “Understood!”
