First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2604 - Little Su’s Complete Undying Path

Chapter 2604 – Little Su’s Complete Undying Path
The Grand Dao lay in ultimate simplicity.
The same was true of knowledge and profound insights.
Who were you? Where were you from, and where were you going?
They were simple, boring questions, but if you thought about it, it wasn’t hard to realize that the first question was about one’s self-perception.
The second was about one’s reasons for beginning their journey, while the third was about one’s life purpose.
To cultivators, it was a process of seeing heaven and earth, seeing the masses, then seeing the self.
Most people’s understanding of these principles were limited and superficial.
Those who truly gained enlightenment into these truths were few and far between.
A soft drizzle suddenly poured down from the heavens, wetting but not drenching the clothes. The wind blew, but it wasn’t at all cold.
Mists hovered over a distant mountain. There were rain and clouds, but also beams of light pouring through them, illuminating the area.
Su Yi gazed at that beam of divine light in silence for a long time before suddenly looking down and touching the ground below. He whispered, “My path is beneath my feet.”
An invisible wall seemed to shatter in his Dao Heart.
He was like a caterpillar bursting through its cocoon. Su Yi felt that his heart was like a butterfly flitting through the air post metamorphosis, free and at ease, lively and beautiful.
The Heart Soul sitting cross-legged in his Dao Heart was bathed in resplendent light, lending it an additional ethereal charm.
The radiance emanating from it was the Light of the Heart!
When the Light of the Heart shone, it illuminated the subtle mysteries of fate!
Su Yi felt an unprecedented, wondrous sensation. It was as if he’d become an outsider, looking at himself inside and out from another’s perspective. He saw it all clearly.
Proximity is blinding. No one is harder to understand than yourself.
Yet now, Su Yi felt as if he saw himself clearly for the first time, inside and out!
He could see the Epoch Spark’s power fusing with his essence, qi, and spirit. Its power coursed through him when he cultivated, all of it returning to the seedling rooted in his Sea of Chaos.
He saw the three remaining Divine Chains on the Sword of the Nine Hells and the inscrutable power sealing them, like intricate, contorted talisman markings. All of them emanated mysterious, heart-palpitating energy fluctuations.
He saw his blood and qi coursing with an endless ocean of life force, and the dense, overflowing source of his vitality.
He saw them all clearly, down to their subtlest details.
“Seeing heaven and earth, seeing the masses, and seeing the self…” murmured Su Yi as he mentally replayed his journey and cultivation experiences over the past few months.
He’d seen the suffering of the masses, and all the bloodshed and carnage.
Now, he saw himself, and he understood what direction he needed to take!
Now, Su Yi understood. He’d already cultivated the No Attachment, No Form level of his Undying Realm cultivation to perfection!
His unique Three Stages of the Undying Realm was now complete!
The first stage was called No Laws, No Heavens.
The second was called No Beginning, No End.
The third was called No Attachment, No Form.
He’d now tempered this new, unprecedented path to perfection, leaving no flaws behind.
This was different from the usual nine tribulations that Master Gods had to overcome. It was unique, the only one like it in history!
“You aren’t sure where to go next?” When Uncle Wu saw Su Yi fall silent, he smiled. “Then just stay here and play chess with me!”
Su Yi laughed and shook his head. “You keep losing. There’s no point beating you.”
Uncle Wu glared, his hair and beard bristling. “Don’t you know how to throw a game or two, kid?”
Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh. He pondered briefly, then clasped his fist. “Our meeting was a stroke of fate. I’m endlessly grateful for your hospitality. If you ever run into trouble, just call my name and I’ll come running.”
As he spoke, he extracted a wisp of the Light of the Heart and silently planted it in Uncle Wu’s body.
It wasn’t much, but it was enough that, no matter where Su Yi was, he’d sense it the moment Uncle Wu called for him.
“You’re just bragging,” said Uncle Wu, not the least bit convinced. “Besides, even if I run into trouble, how could I possibly need your help?”
Su Yi laughed and didn’t explain. “My name is Su Yi. Make sure you remember it.”
“Alright, alright. I’ll remember,” said Uncle Wu, but he obviously didn’t take it the least bit seriously. “Wait here. I’ll prepare some food and a jug of wine. Take it as your farewell feast.”
With that, he slipped into the kitchen.
“Su Yi? You… are called Su Yi?” The youth beneath the crooked tree shot to his feet. “What were your parents thinking, giving you such a name? Weren’t they afraid of inviting disaster?”
Su Yi was stunned. “What do you mean?”
“What do I mean?” exclaimed the youth. “That’s Sword Venerate Su’s name! Calling yourself that… is hugely disrespectful!”
Su Yi burst into laughter.
“…” The youth didn’t know what to say. Now he’s even laughing!?
Meanwhile, two figures appeared silently in the distance. A handsome young man, and a red-haired youth.
“Idiot. He’s the ‘Sword Venerate Su’ you speak of. How could he possibly be disrespecting himself?” sneered the red-haired youth.
“He… he’s Sword Venerate Su!?” The youth looked as if he’d been struck by lightning. His mind went completely blank. What’s a legend like Sword Venerate Su doing in a remote backwater like this?
He even ignored the stench of manure long enough to sit and play chess with Uncle Wu!
How could someone like that possibly be Sword Venerate Su?
The red-haired man then looked at Su Yi in confusion. “What is someone of your status doing in a backwater like this?”
The village was entirely unassuming, run-down, and impoverished. Even the villagers were only the lowliest of mortals.
Yet here a legendary figure like Su Yi was. He seemed like he’d been here for a while, too.
The red-haired man was an expert of the River of Destiny. He naturally found this bewildering.
The handsome young man stood quietly to the sidelines, not saying a word. However, it was subtle, but when he looked at Su Yi, he seemed a bit on guard.
The drizzle continued, shrouding the mountains in mist.
Uncle Wu was busy in the kitchen, while the ducks and chickens frolicked in the courtyard. A wisp of smoke rose through the gentle rain.
Su Yi turned to look at the handsome young man and the red-haired man. Then, he gestured into the distance. “Wait for me three thousand miles away. I’ll naturally come find you once I’ve eaten.”
He spoke casually, but with incontrovertible force.
The red-haired man frowned and was about to say something when the handsome young man pulled him aside. “Be considerate and let Fellow Daoist Su enjoy his meal, okay?”
The red-haired man laughed. “Very well. Even the condemned are allowed one last sumptuous meal before their execution. I’ll naturally grant him this! Come on, let’s go!”
The corners of the handsome young man’s lips twitched. He’s… really got quite the mouth on him.
The two of them vanished in a flash.
Su Yi just walked into Uncle Wu’s little courtyard as if nothing had happened.
The youth watching from the shade of the crooked tree fell onto his butt, visibly dazed.
This is the famed greatest sword cultivator in the God Domain, Sword Venerate Su? Why… does he seem even more like a country bumpkin than I am?
The youth couldn’t wrap his head around it.
Before long, Uncle Wu brought out a plate of simple dishes and a jug of turbid wine to share with Su Yi.
The dishes were plain and meager, just pickled vegetables and brown rice.
Even the wine was watery and bland.
But Su Yi nonetheless ate and drank with relish.
How could the delights of the stomach compare to the delights of the heart?
Not even the arrival of two uninvited guests could dampen Su Yi’s spirits or spoil his appetite. The way he saw it, tempering his Three Stages of the Undying Realm to perfection and producing the Light of the Heart were entirely thanks to Uncle Wu’s question, “Where are you going?”
The asker had no such intentions, yet his question resonated with his listener.
It was just a few simple words, but to Su Yi, they were like a revelation.
Uncle Wu wasn’t a cultivator. He was just a simple, ordinary farmer. He spoke coarsely, and he had no education to speak of. His perspective was limited.
But in Su Yi’s eyes, even lofty rulers couldn’t compare to this humble farmer.
This table of coarse tea and plain food was far, far more important than the two experts from the River of Destiny.
After finishing his meal, Su Yi rose to leave.
Uncle Wu promptly picked up a chicken and a duck, placed them both in a bamboo basket, and gave them to Su Yi, basket and all. He called them “a snack for the road.”
He even considerately offered Su Yi a jug of unfiltered wine.
“Little Su, if you ever get the free time, come back and visit this old man. You don’t need to bring anything, nor do you need to repay me. Just come back for a game of chess,” Uncle Wu smiled. “When the time comes, I’ll win a game for sure!”
Su Yi smiled and nodded. Little Su? What a novel title.
He didn’t know it, but when the youth sitting beneath the crooked tree heard Uncle Wu call him that, his jaw practically fell off.
Uncle Wu was warm and enthusiastic. He saw Su Yi all the way to the village entrance, and he even told him how to navigate the path through the mountain forest.
When it came time to part ways, Uncle Wu couldn’t help but feel melancholy. He waved and said, “Take care, Little Su!”
Su Yi smiled and waved back. Before long, he’d vanished into the distance.
The youth beneath the towering tree was stunned. Strange. What am I doing here?
And wait, where’d that outsider Uncle Wu was playing chess with go?
The youth got up and looked around. He didn’t know it, but all of his memories of this encounter with Su Yi had vanished.
Meanwhile, not long after Su Yi left the village, he looked back, but the fog and clouds were so dense that he could only see a tiny corner of the village.
The light of the heavens poured through the clouds, bathing the village. It was a dazzling sight.
Cloudlight Village was a blessed ground in my journey through the Undying Realm, and the starting point of my Path of Eternity, thought Su Yi. I’ll naturally return one day.
With that, he looked away and strode off.
…
Three thousand miles away, the edge of the mountains.
Two men, one young and handsome, the other red-haired, were waiting here.
But when they saw Su Yi approach from afar, they were unwittingly stunned.
Su Yi was carrying a coarse bamboo basket on his back. A duck and chicken were inside, flapping their wings and causing a commotion.
Quacking and clucking rose and fell in waves.
All of this made Su Yi seem just covered in the red dust of mortality.
