First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2631 - The Enraged Heart Devil in the Sheath

Chapter 2631 – The Enraged Heart Devil in the Sheath
This stranger appeared out of nowhere, and now he wants to join forces with the Malevolent Sword Venerate to defeat us all?
The experts frowned. They couldn’t help but be furious, and they couldn’t even imagine how brazen and arrogant someone had to be to say something so shameless.
The Malevolent Sword Venerate’s eyes flashed. He understood the implications of Xiao Jian’s offer. It seems that this bookish stranger is yet another of Su Yi’s past lives!
Meanwhile, Su Yi realized that Xiao Jian wasn’t confident that he could single-handedly keep the situation under control.
Was Xiao Jian just not strong enough? No, that wasn’t it.
Xiao Jian had come in the flesh, but he was still subject to the restriction of the God Domain’s chaos source, just like the old-timers here. He was just as limited as they were!
“You want to join forces with me, and you’re calling it ‘an opportunity?’ You sure are arrogant!” the Malevolent Sword Venerate said expressionlessly. “Give up. I won’t fight alongside you.”
“Oh?” said Xiao Jian before glancing at Su Yi. “I don’t want to take advantage of a moment of crisis to kill you here, but I also don’t want you to die by their hand. How do you see the situation?”
“You want me to lower my head to you?” asked Su Yi.
“I wouldn’t call it that,” said Xiao Jian. “Agree to come with me, and I guarantee that none of them will be able to stand in our way!”
“Brazen!”
“You clearly don’t take us the least bit seriously.”
“Go ahead and try us, then!”
Old Daoist Crow, Cang Lingzi, Dao Lord Jin Hua, and the others laughed coldly. All of them seethed with murderous intent.
The Malevolent Sword Venerate snorted coldly, sinister light flashing in his eyes as he looked at Xiao Jian.
But Su Yi shook his head. “Seems to me that there’s no need to go to all that trouble. You might as well just attack me together and see if any of you can really kill me.”
Silence descended over the crowd. Everyone was flabbergasted. He’s been reduced to mere prey, and all he can do is stand there and wait as the predators fight over his remains, so why is he still so arrogant?
Xiao Jian couldn’t help but be stunned. He took a deep, hard look at Su Yi. “Are you serious?”
“If you really disdain to take advantage of my moment of crisis, step aside. If you want to kick me while I’m down, go right ahead. It’s simple, don’t you think?”
“What’s with all the nonsense?” someone suddenly shouted. “If you wicked creatures want to compete, allow me to test you!”
The speaker was a thin woman in palace garb. Her eyebrows were sharp and curved.
This was Yun Zhongxue, an unparalleled Dao Lord of the Eternal Heavens Domain and a demoness infamous throughout the River of Destiny. People paled at the mere mention of her name.
Her voice had only just rung out when she attacked, flinging a blood-red lotus platform. The platform spun, tearing through the sky and erupting with stinging, blood-red light. All of it shot toward Su Yi.
The moment she attacked, the standoff broke. All of the experts attacked at once.
Old Daoist Crow stepped through the air, swinging his bamboo staff. When it struck the air, verdant power of the natural order burst forth, like a sea of trees blanketing heaven and earth.
Cang Lingzi formed a series of hand seals, and thirty-six dazzling, resplendent golden chains whooshed forth, boring through the sky.
Dao Lord Jin Hua bellowed, swinging a glistening white battle axe as he charged explosively into battle.
Meanwhile, Dao Venerate Lu Shi, Yu Chiyang, and a dozen or so other supreme experts of the River of Destiny all attacked at once. Each unleashed the strongest ability at their disposal, and each was more terrifying than the one before.
The Malevolent Sword Venerate was still hard at work suppressing the Sword of the Nine Hells, so he’d yet to take action, but the murderous intent in his eyes blazed ever brighter.
He was indeed waiting. The moment Su Yi breathed his last, he’d get the Sword of the Nine Hells fully under his control and claim Su Yi’s everything!
Xiao Jian sighed. He had no desire to use his position to bully others, nor did he want to fling stones at someone who’d fallen down a well.
But under the circumstances, he had no choice but to take action. He had to grab Su Yi and get him out of here!
Thus, the moment the others took action, he raised his book into the air.
Boom!
Countless lines of contorted, ancient text rose from its pages, condensed into a sword, and appeared in his grip.
Xiao Jian’s presence instantly transformed.
Countless treasures took to the sky, exploding with divine radiance and throwing the entire stretch of heaven and earth into chaos.
Their combined power made the strange, calamitous phenomena throughout the Eastern Victory Divine Continent even more terrifying. Heaven and earth shook.
Even on the Central Divine Continent, numerous chaos energies were startled. They surged forth, instantly alerting the numerous old-timers hunting for good fortune.
…
The Dipankara Buddha was walking through a remote stretch of mountains when he suddenly looked up and gazed into the dome of heaven.
His monk’s robes fluttered around him.
…
Di E was in a barren, chaotic plain when he suddenly stopped in place, his expression shifting.
…
Lin Jinghong was seated in meditation in her underground chamber. When the spear she carried with her in battles throughout the world quivered, she opened her eyes, revealing her astonishment.
…
Similar scenes played out throughout the Central Divine Continent.
Meanwhile, in the Borderless Mountains, when the Malevolent Sword Venerate, Xiao Jian, and a dozen or so other Eternals attacked, Su Yi froze in place.
He was unable to move a muscle. His cultivation base had been thoroughly suppressed, and he couldn’t access any of his strength whatsoever.
His opponents’ imposing auras were just too terrifying. When they all converged on him, their overlapping powers sealed his surroundings off completely.
The pressure was so intense that Su Yi’s body was on the verge of exploding into pieces!
But his gaze was as calm as ever, utterly serene. It was as if he’d given up and were simply waiting to die.
But it was then that…
Boom!!
The rusted sword sheath took to the sky, like an unstoppable beam of light. It shattered the various powers surrounding Su Yi as if cleaving through layers of paper!
Immediately afterward, heaven and earth crumbled, creation withered, and all Daos collapsed!
Everything was destroyed, degraded, and devastated!
From a distance, it was as if a windstorm had arisen around Su Yi. As it swept outward, it destroyed everything in its path!
Boom!!!
The blood-red lotus platform split into pieces.
A rain of light scattered, and Yun Zhongxue, the first to attack, shrieked as she was sent flying backward. Countless wounds opened all over her body, making her skin resemble cracked porcelain.
But this was just the beginning.
When the rusted sword sheath attacked, Old Daoist Crow’s green light of the natural order shattered. Cang Lingzi’s thirty-six golden divine chains exploded into pieces, and Dao Lord Jin Hua’s glinting, snow-white spear broke.
All of the Eternals’ treasures and abilities popped as if they were made of paper!
Everything was ground into nothingness, unable to block even a single hit
Xiao Jian’s attack was sent flying too, and he retreated tens of thousands of feet as if he’d been struck by lightning.
His thin, elegant face filled with astonishment, but compared to the others, he’d gotten off lightly. The others hadn’t just lost their attacks and treasures; they themselves were sent flying, covered in wounds and utterly wretched.
Boom!!
Heaven and earth churned. Everything completely collapsed, as if sinking into chaos.
Only the rusted sword sheath remained, the most dazzling beam of light amidst the chaos. It crushed everything in its path, intimidating everyone present.
The Malevolent Sword Venerate had been ready to swoop in the moment Su Yi died, but when he saw this, he was completely stunned. What kind of treasure is that?
Everything was in chaos. Startled cries arose on all sides.
The old monsters were astonished. The all-encompassing destructive power of that strike startled even them.
It was just too terrifying!
When all of them attacked together, they could destroy even a newly advanced Eternal without a doubt.
Yet now, a mere rusted sword sheath had blocked their attacks!
But Su Yi was stunned, too; this wasn’t his doing. He’d actually planned on using a different power entirely, but now… it seemed that would no longer be necessary.
Boom!
The rusted sword sheath turned, then paused in midair amidst the chaotic landscape.
Then, a voice rang out. “My apologies. I truly couldn’t stand to watch any more of this. I was practically dying of frustration!”
This was, naturally, the voice of his first incarnation’s heart devil.
Everyone looked solemnly at the rusted sword sheath. There was no hiding the dread on their faces. Just who is hidden inside? And why is he so strong?
No one knew. Even the little girl, Lu Shi, Yu Chiyang, and the others who’d already known of the sheath’s existence struggled to stay calm.
They had indeed known that this was one of Su Yi’s hidden cards, but they’d had no idea that it’d be this terrifying.
“One of you is an incarnation of negative karma, and the other seized a profound secret of destiny, but you’re ultimately just like us,” the heart devil said from within the rusted sheath. “How can we fight amongst ourselves in the face of powerful foes?”
He spoke with the utmost fury. “I hate nothing more than people who target their own!”
The Malevolent Sword Venerate frowned. What does he mean, ‘just like us’? Why call this fighting amongst ourselves?
The Malevolent Sword Venerate shook his head. I don’t care about that. All I want is to know who the guy in the sword sheath is, and why he thinks he has the right to chastise me.
Wait.
He chastised that guy, too!
The Malevolent Sword Venerate glanced at Xiao Jian. Xiao Jian was frowning too and struggling to stay calm.
He knows I seized a profound secret of destiny? That’s one of my deepest secrets. I’ve never once told anyone about it.
How could he possibly have figured it out? Just who is the guy trapped in that rusted sheath?
Don’t tell me…
Xiao Jian’s heart shook as something occurred to him.
He knew about the rusted sword sheath too, and he’d requested it from the River Lord before.
But he’d had no idea that a mysterious figure was hidden inside it!
“Why not show yourself, sir?” asked Old Daoist Crow. He and the other old monsters had all recovered from their initial shock.
Boom!
The rusted sheath flashed through the air, and Old Daoist Crow’s body exploded into pieces, scattering into a rain of light.
This was the avatar of a tyrant amongst heretical cultivators on the River of Destiny, yet now, he’d vanished in a flash.
The sight made the other old-timers’ hair stand on end. Their scalps went numb.
Xiao Jian’s expression grew solemn.
Even Su Yi was stunned. Even he hadn’t realized that the heart devil was this powerful.
“What right do you have to learn this lofty one’s identity? You don’t know the meaning of the word death!” said the heart devil, making no attempt to disguise his disdain.
The sheath turned to address the others. “Don’t just stand there, you lot! This lofty one shall grant you an opportunity to die with dignity. Slit your own throats and die already!”
