First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2647 - A Black Sheep

Chapter 2647 – A Black Sheep
Misty light permeated the air as everything returned to stillness.
But the stench of blood still lingered in the air.
Su Yi flipped his palm. The blood-red sword quivered in his grip, unable to break free.
This treasure was obviously forged with Eternal-level materials. It was far beyond the treasures of most Master Gods.
But it wasn’t a true Eternal weapon, either, as it lacked Eternal origin power. In that sense, it was much like a False Eternal.
Lu Jianchi sighed, his expression bleak. “Indeed, it’s just as I thought. You’re even more terrifying than that woman who left earlier!”
Earlier, he’d tried repeatedly to stop this conflict, but in the end, a clash of egos led to tragedy.
“Do you want to call for reinforcements? If so, I’ll wait.” Su Yi swung his hand, and the blood-red sword whooshed through the air, stopping in the air right at Lu Jianchi’s feet.
As rare as swords like it were… out of respect to another sword cultivator, Su Yi had no intention of claiming it for his own.
“No need for that.” Lu Jianchi shook his head.
“Why not?” asked Su Yi. He was a bit confused.
Lu Jianchi was a bit confused, too. “Do you really not understand the situation here in the Central Divine Continent at all?”
“Please enlighten me,” said Su Yi.
Lu Jianchi’s gaze was conflicted. Just who is this guy? He’s so strong, so why is he so modest?
A moment later, he said gravely, “The God Domain’s chaos source has not yet fully dissipated. Although a few Eternals like Ancestor Hun Yun have awakened from dormancy, they’re still limited to their respective territories, and they dare not attack lightly.”
Su Yi instantly understood. “Did a lot of Eternals survive the Great Extinguishing? And just how high are their cultivation bases?”
Lu Jianchi felt all twisted up inside. Earlier, he killed my allies without batting an eye. One step forward, and all of them died. It was as tyrannical as can be.
Who’d have imagined that he’d turn around a moment later and earnestly request my guidance as if nothing had happened?
Doesn’t he realize that I’d love nothing more than to cut him down?
It’s truly ridiculous!!
Some time passed before Lu Jianchi managed to calm himself. He said, “Might you tell me just who you are?”
“Su Yi.”
Lu Jianchi’s eyes widened. “The one who fought in the Borderless Mountains? That Su Yi?”
Su YI laughed. “I doubt anyone in this world would dare to impersonate me.”
Lu Jianchi’s expression shifted erratically. He finally understood who he was dealing with!
This was the legendary sword cultivator who’d become the effective ruler of the God Domain!
“This time, we… really didn’t lose unfairly.” Lu Jianchi sighed.
Word of the battle in the Borderless Mountains had already circulated throughout the Central Divine Continent. Old-timers like them had naturally heard the news by now.
They said that even experts from the River of Destiny had intervened, yet they’d still failed to eradicate Su Yi. Who wouldn’t take him seriously now?
After that, Lu Jianchi was quite cooperative. He told Su Yi everything he wanted to know.
For instance, not that many old-timers had managed to survive the Great Extinguishing, a thousand or so at most.
And their ranks included only nine true Eternals!
According to Lu Jianchi, during the Central Divine Continent’s golden age, countless races lived side by side, and orthodoxies were as numerous as the trees in a forest. Experts were as abundant as the carp in the river.
Those factions considered truly “peak” had all given rise to an Eternal, and often more than just one or two!
Most Eternals left for the River of Destiny, then stayed there to continue their cultivation.
However, a minority returned to the Central Divine Continent after proving their Dao on the River of Destiny.
It was just that those who did almost always met with tribulations. After all, the natural order of the River of Destiny was like a dividing line. It separated Eternals from those yet to achieve Eternity.
Those who crossed that dividing line inevitably faced a tribulation. .The higher their cultivation, the more terrifying the tribulation!
The Eternals who returned to the Central Divine Continent had only just broken through. They still had to face tribulations, but they weren’t particularly severe.
Even so, they could only remain in their sects. They wouldn’t venture out lightly.
This was because the God Domain’s Laws of the natural order had their own restrictions. The moment they revealed their Eternal power, they’d face an inevitable backlash!
When Su Yi heard all that, he couldn’t help but ask, “If they knew they’d face tribulation upon returning to the God Domain, why come back at all?”
Lu Jianchi’s answer was outside of Su Yi’s expectations.
They came back to pass on their legacies!
Those Eternals from top orthodoxies swore before proving their Daos that they’d return to the sect should they succeed. There, they’d pass on their legacy, and share their experiences breaking through.
That was how the top orthodoxies of the Central Divine Continent continued passing on their lineage and producing more and more Eternals.
Su Yi couldn’t help but be impressed.
Why was the Central Divine Continent of old a sacred ground in the eyes of the God Domain’s cultivators?
This was perhaps the reason.
Alas, the Great Extinguishing had destroyed it all.
“In other words, the Eternals living in the Central Divine Continent are all in the Unfettered Realm?” asked Su Yi.
“That’s right,” said Lu Jianchi.
Su Yi went on to ask several other questions.
Times had changed, so the survivors of the Central Divine Continent had decided to huddle together for warmth. They’d formed several camps.
For instance, Lu Jianchi wasn’t originally from the same sect as Ancestor Hun Yun, but he was now working on his behalf.
After all, a towering tree created a lot of shade.
Numerous other similar factions had sprouted up. Each of the surviving Unfettered Realm Eternals had essentially formed their own camp.
“A single spark can start a wildfire. We old-timers managed to survive until the present day. Going forward, we’ll pour all of our effort into rebuilding our sects and passing on our legacies,” Lu Jianchi said gravely. “I’m not the only one who feels that way; just about every expert of the Central Divine Continent feels similarly.”
He paused, then continued, “That aside, some of us old-timers will participate in the Battle for Order, but their goal isn’t to vie for supremacy, but rather, to ensure that nothing like the Great Extinguishing ever happens again. They’re trying to prevent another tragedy…”
As he said that last bit, his eyes dimmed. The Central Divine Continent of bygone days was glorious and resplendent!
But all of its past glories had long since been lost to history, while the land itself had been reduced to scorched earth!
Su Yi didn’t ask about that last part, and he wasn’t interested, either.
But he dared say with certainty that this Battle for Order would be different from the battle that ultimately destroyed the Central Divine Continent.
That aside, Lu Jianchi mentioned something that piqued Su Yi’s interest.
Apparently, in the days prior to the Battle for Order, more and more survivors of the Central Divine Continent would awaken from dormancy.
Including several Unfettered Realm Dao Lords!
There’d be quite a few of them, too!
This was because they were waiting for the God Domain’s chaos source to fully dry up. Only then could they enter the world without fetters or fear of a backlash.
Su Yi was actually quite eager for this. He wanted to test himself against an Unfettered Realm Dao Lord and see how great the disparity was!
“You can leave,” said Su Yi. He’d decided to set off immediately and head straight to Red Pine Mountain.
“You… aren’t going to kill me?” Lu Jianchi looked stunned.
Su Yi shook his head slightly. “There’s no need for that.”
Lu Jianchi had a complicated look on his face. Suddenly, he raised his head and said, “To tell the truth, I know of some of your past accomplishments, and even before meeting you, I held you in high esteem.”
He paused, then added, “But I don’t think highly of your chances if you decide to participate in the Battle for Order!”
“Oh?” said Su Yi. “Why is that?”
“Only Eternals are qualified to participate in the Battle for Order,” said Lu Jianchi. “I’ve been to Red Pine Mountain before, and I understand its terrifyingness far better than you. Even those who’ve stepped into Eternity risk death there!”
Su Yi just smiled noncommittally and walked off.
After he faded from view, Lu Jianchi couldn’t help but let out a long sigh. If Ancestor Hun Yun learns of Su Yi’s involvement in Zhao Baihou’s death, I’m afraid he won’t just let it go!
……
Late at night.
The entire Central Divine Continent was shrouded in black clouds. The land was shrouded in darkness reminiscent of an eternal night.
Nighttime was when the strange beings that inhabited this place were most active. They were all over the place.
Most experts who explored the Central Divine Continent would hide before nightfall. It was just too dangerous otherwise!
But Su Yi was continuing his journey. After all, according to Grand Elder Po Xue of the Hidden Blue Sword House, it would take a month to reach Red Pine Mountain.
Su Yi didn’t want to waste all of his preparation time on the journey, so he’d decided to get there as quickly as possible and get a feel for the situation before the fighting began.
The night was dark and deep, but Su Yi didn’t light any torches or lanterns, nor did he use any kind of treasure for illumination. He just walked through the wilderness in complete darkness.
Thus who didn’t know better might well have taken him for yet another of the land’s strange beings.
Along the way, Su Yi frequently encountered actual strange beings, like skeletons, lost souls, divine wraiths, and other undead. There were so many different kinds that it felt as if he’d returned to the Netherworld, or as if he were watching a parade of one hundred ghosts.
Boom!
Suddenly, a bloody, rotting hand shot out of the ground and reached for Su Yi. The air split like paper window panelling, and bloody light shot forth. A corrosive aura permeated the air.
Su Yi didn’t so much as glance at it. He just continued ahead, entirely unperturbed.
Bang!
Before the rotting hand could touch him, Su Yi’s invisible power shattered it into ash.
That guy… was probably a Nine-Tribulation Master God in life, thought Su Yi.
The strange entities of the Central Divine Continent had highly variable strengths. The strongest could threaten even Half-Step Eternals!
But they naturally couldn’t threaten Su Yi.
He walked through the darkness, walking half the night before silently coming to a halt.
A black sheep had appeared in the distance, silently and out of nowhere!
Its body, head, wool, hooves, and even its eyes were all… completely black.
Under the cover of darkness, someone not paying attention wouldn’t have noticed it.
The black sheep stood there, gazing at Su Yi.
Suddenly, it opened its mouth and bleated, “Baa!”
