First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2659 - I Suspect You Cheated

Chapter 2659 – I Suspect You Cheated
Numerous experts of the River of Destiny were hidden throughout the endless spacetime void.
As the young man in black robes and the Daoist crown scanned the area, those hidden figures stiffened, their expressions shifting.
The few terrifying, transcendent figures among them frowned.
They recognized the young man’s gaze, and it left them stunned. They couldn’t help but wonder who’d provoked the old monster of Limitless Palace.
Moments later, the young man in the Daoist crown retracted his gaze. He looked bewildered.
He hadn’t discovered the culprit!
The Limitless Jade Record isn’t anything special. Still, those beneath the Heavenly Sovereign Level can forget about shaking it. Yet now… someone managed to obscure its power without me detecting them… Don’t tell me it was one of those old-timers?
Several figures floated into view. All of them were Heavenly Sovereigns of the Eternal Heavens Domain, but in the end, the young man couldn’t confirm who among them was standing in his way.
The black-robed young man silently put the jade record away. Very well. When the Battle for Order begins, I’ll see just which of you old-timers was behind this!
……
The Central Divine Continent, in front of Red Pine Mountain.
“It’s been a long time since the last such grand occasion,” said a thin old man. His face was wrinkled, and his eyes were turbid.
He was standing right there, yet he seemed like he stood whole worlds away, as if he were simultaneously far beyond the God Domain!
“You call this a grand occasion? It’s just a clash of those on the River of Destiny—and those even weaker than that,” someone else sneered.
As this voice rang out, another figure appeared beside the old man. He was built like a boulder, steady and firm, yet he seemed ethereal. None could discern his true appearance.
It was clear that he was a middle-aged man, but that was the extent of it.
He looked around, then said, “Pick any battle of the All-Profound Dominion at random, and it’ll be a grander occasion than this.”
“You can’t compare them that way.” The thin old man shook his head. “We’ve both experienced all kinds of chaos and upheaval in our lives, but would you dare to say that you experienced a comparable Battle for Order while you were in the Undying Realm?”
The middle-aged man paused. “No, actually.”
“It’s a Battle for Order, yet Heavenly Sovereigns are watching. Tell me, should we curse them for their shamelessness, or should we mock their small-mindedness?”
The thin old man’s turbid eyes peered into the firmament, as if he could see everything happening in that endless spacetime void.
“We ought to curse and mock them,” said the middle-aged man. “But more than that, what I’m really wondering is… who we ought to help this time.”
The thin old man’s brow furrowed. He found this an awful headache, too.
The middle-aged man said gravely, “I know you’ve always thought highly of Xiao Jian, as he’s the most similar to our boss. His temperament, disposition, and even his Dao of the Sword both bear a striking resemblance to the boss’.
“Now that the Dark Days of Legend have arrived, Xiao Jian has seized an opportunity to enter the present day. Don’t even try to tell me that you don’t want Xiao Jian to be the one to live on in the end.”
The thin old man rubbed his forehead, his expression full of uncertainty. After a while, he said, “And what about you? Who do you favor? Don’t even try to fob me off with nonsense. I want to know how you really feel.”
The middle-aged man fell silent.
After a while, he said, “On a strictly emotional level, I guided Jiang Wuchen’s cultivation on numerous occasions. I saw him as the boss reincarnated, and I figured that even if he couldn’t surpass the boss, he at least had hope of one day standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him.
“Alas, in the end, problems arose with his heart. I lament it even now.” The middle-aged man paused, then added, “I don’t favor any of them. I’ll acknowledge whoever wins.”
The thin old man’s gaze was hard to read. “Back then, in the River of Epochs, you entrusted the Epoch Spark to Su Yi. Why do that if you don’t favor him?”
The middle-aged man corrected, “It’s not that I gave him the Epoch Spark, but that Su Yi overcame the trail of the Abundance of Heaven Chessboard and won the Epoch Spark’s acknowledgment.” He sighed. “He’s the boss’s current incarnation, and he carries the Sword of the Nine Hells, the power of reincarnation, and the Epoch Spark. Moreover, his Dao of the Sword is unprecedented. No matter how I look at him, he has endless potential, but…”
The middle-aged man trailed off. It seemed he didn’t know how to put his feelings into words.
The thin old man said, “I understand how you feel. Everything Su Yi has, Xiao Jian could potentially inherit. The same is true of the incarnation of Jiang Wuchen’s negative karma.”
“That’s right,” said the middle-aged man. “Let’s call everything he’s attained his Dao Fruit. There’s no reason Xiao Jian or Jiang Wuchen couldn’t simply pluck it.”
He paused, then said in a hushed voice, “And don’t forget that the boss’s heart devil is still hidden in that rusted sheath. What if… the heart devil is the one to seize Su Yi’s Dao Fruit? What will we do then?”
The old man narrowed his eyes, then sighed. “I predict that if we sit this one out, Su Yi won’t be able to overcome this trial on his own. But if we help him, Xiao Jian, Jiang Wuchen, and the boss’s heart devil… won’t let it go.”
Both of them fell silent. They found the situation incomparably aggravating.
After a while, the thin old man suddenly cursed. “Dammit!”
Then, with a wave of his sleeves, he set course for Red Pine Mountain.
“Have you made a decision?” asked the middle-aged man.
“No. I’m just going to have to take things one step at a time!” said the thin old man. “I refuse to believe that there’s no resolution to this problem!”
As he spoke, he vanished into Red Pine Mountain.
“Damn you, heavens! You’re always throwing problems my way!” The middle-aged man spat out a mouthful of phlegm, glared at the dome of heaven, and shot toward Red Pine Mountain.
From beginning to end ,no one sensed their presence.
……
Red Pine Mountain was enormous. It was like an independent world of chaos.
The mountain stretched endlessly into the distance. Dense chaos mist formed clouds that hung in the air all over the place.
In stark contrast with the lifeless, barren Central Divine Continent, the slopes of Red Pine Mountain were covered in ancient, primeval forests teeming with life.
Strangest of all, stars of five different colors were inlaid in the sky over Red Pine Mountain.
Red, white, black, blue, and yellow.
If the heavens were like a coursing river, then the stars were like the stones lining the riverbed. They were crystalline and translucent, and they glowed with colorful light. It was a spectacular scene.
Su Yi stood atop an elevated clearing covered in lush green grass, gazing at the five-colored stars overhead. He couldn’t hide his surprise.
A fist-sized yellow finch stood on the branch of a nearby tree, its bright, intelligent eyes focused on Su Yi. It watched him in silence, seemingly curious.
After a while, it said suddenly, “Haven’t you seen enough yet? Those stars were condensed from the power of the five elements in the God Domain’s primordial chaos energy, that’s all. What’s there to look at?”
Its voice was crisp and clear.
Su Yi looked at the yellow finch and said, “I heard that every one of those stars represents an opportunity to achieve Eternity. Is that true?”
“Good fortune is indeed up for grabs, but less than one in ten can seize it, and even fewer can use it to successfully break through and achieve Eternity,” said the yellow finch.
Su Yi’s gaze shifted inscrutably. “No wonder everyone longs to test their luck on Red Pine Mountain.”
Every star represented a chance to prove one’s Dao and achieve Eternity, but there were countless stars overhead.
Too many to comprehend!
“Those stars are much like the so-called ‘Fragments of Heaven’s Will. They originate from the God Domain’s chaos source,” said the yellow finch. “Gathering Fragments of Heaven’s Will in the outside world is easier than acquiring those stars, and it comes down to just about the same thing.”
Su Yi nodded. The five elements were the root of heaven, earth, and everything in between. They were also the foundation of all worlds and the Laws of the natural order that governed them.
The moment Su Yi arrived at Red Pine Mountain, he understood that the greatest good fortune available here was connected to the five elements!
That was why the Battle of Order was to be fought atop the Five Elements Altar.
The yellow finch fell briefly silent, then asked out of nowhere, “How did you make it through the trial of the heart?”
This was the real reason it had taken the initiative to approach Su Yi!
The gates of Red Pine Mountain opened just long enough to burn a stick of incense. Of everyone who attempted the trial, Su Yi was the first to overcome its three obstacles.
But the yellow finch knew that he wasn’t among the first group to enter. On the contrary, he was among the later entrants.
The finch also knew that it had taken him barely nine snaps of the fingers to reach this place, and that was just far too unbelievable.
The trial of the body was relatively easy. It was no trouble at all for those who’d achieved Eternity. The trial of the Dao was more dangerous, but it ultimately just took time. There were lots of opportunities to pass.
The trial of the heart was the most difficult of all!
Most of those who’d washed out did so at this juncture. Those still underdoing trial were mostly stuck there, still looking for a way to break through.
Yet now, someone yet to achieve Eternity had overcome all three trials in just nine snaps of the fingers, becoming the first to reach Red Pine Mountain. How could the yellow finch not find that strange?
As the Patrolling Spirit of Red Pine Mountain, the one the Mountain Guardian Beasts took as their leader, the finch knew better than anyone how unbelievable it was that an Undying Realm expert had achieved this.
It was extremely out of the ordinary!
When Su Yi heard this question, he finally understood why the finch was talking to him.
“Was that trial supposed to be hard?” asked Su Yi.
He stopped to think about it seriously. The trial of the heart had been the easiest. He hadn’t so much as sensed the slightest hint of a threat. He just walked right through it, using his heart as a sword to sever everything in his path.
Just like that, he passed the trial.
The other two trials had been relatively troublesome, but still not overly difficult.
The finch fell silent, its bright eyes locked onto Su Yi as it said, “I suspect… that you cheated!”
