First Immortal of the Sword - Chapter 2728 - The Imperial Capital of the Great Qin

Chapter 2728 – The Imperial Capital of the Great Qin
The Blue Peak Continent was one of thirty-three continents in the Eternal Heavens Domain.
According to Liang Shan of the Heart-Tempering Sword House, it ranked near the bottom. The continent couldn’t sustain even a single Heavenly Monarch-level faction.
He spoke with derision, but he was also telling the truth.
Of the four greatest orthodoxies in the Blue Peak Continent, Fire Dragon Temple had the deepest foundations, but it still had, at most, a handful of ancient Silent Realm experts to oversee things.
But that didn’t mean that there weren’t any Heavenly Monarchs in the Blue Peak Continent. Over the years, numerous unparalleled figures had left the Blue Peak Continent, proven their Daos, and become Heavenly Monarchs elsewhere.
Them aside, Heavenly Monarchs from other continents occasionally passed through. Their visits were typically brief, like a fleeting glimpse.
…
Half a month later, in the Great Qin Empire.
The Imperial Capital was old-fashioned and charming, with little bridges, courtyards, and flowing water.
Su Yi sprawled out languidly in his wicker chair, watching the rustling bamboo and swaying lotus leaves and listening to the birds and windchimes.
It had been a long, long time since he’d last relaxed like this.
“Please have some tea, Your Excellency Su.” A beautiful serving girl approached, then set a teacup on the little table beside Su Yi.
She seized the opportunity to sneak a glance at “His Excellency Lazybones,” but she quickly retracted her gaze.
Her eyes were inquisitive, but also awed.
“Thank you,” said Su Yi with a laugh.
The serving girl smiled sweetly, then turned to leave, her gait light and airy. She practically flitted through the air like a butterfly, utterly delighted.
Lazy or not, His Excellency Su was quite kind, even to the servants.
Su Yi rubbed his forehead in thought.
He’d arrived in the Blue Peak Continent half a month ago. Qin Suqing and Luan Yunzhong then led him to the Great Qin Empire’s Imperial Capital.
It was there that Su Yi learned that Qin Suqing, a core disciple of Sky Profound Court, had another identity―as the eldest princess of the Great Qin Empire!
She had an illustrious position, and she was known throughout the nation.
The residence Su Yi now sat in was a first-rate blessed ground. It was built over a spirit vein, which provided enough spiritual energy to fuel the cultivation of Unfettered, Divine Wandering, and Silence Realm Eternals.
There were only nineteen such residences in the entire Great Qin Empire! Without permission from the imperial family, no one could take up residence here, no matter who they were.
Pu Xuan had spent the past half month in seclusion, tending to his wounds.
Beyond his regular cultivation, Su Yi was taking this rare break to quench the Sword of Proximity. That aside, he’d asked Qin Suqing to help him gather information regarding the Heart-Tempering Sword House.
The Blue Peak Continent might have been the bottom of the barrel by the standards of the Eternal Heavens Domain, but cultivators weren’t isolated from each other. The cultivators here naturally understood how lofty the Heart-Tempering Sword House was.
Most of what he was perusing had been circulating for a long time, but Su Yi still read it with great enthusiasm.
This was nothing for it. He was now just a “newbie” from a lower realm!
The history of the Eternal Heavens Domain was divided into three ages: the Primordial Era, the Devastation, and the New Beginning. The three ages were divided by a cataclysm that had overturned the Eternal Heavens Domain.
The founder of Heart-Tempering Sword House, Jiang Wuchen, rose to prominence during the Devastation, and he established the Heart-Tempering Sword House during the New Beginning.
At the time, the Heart-Tempering Sword House was only a second-rate, insignificant faction without so much as a single Eternal to oversee things. It thus didn’t qualify as an Eternal orthodoxy.
At the time, Jiang Wuchen naturally had yet to step into Eternity.
But as time passed, Jiang Wuchen’s mastery of the Dao of the Sword grew, as radiant as a comet streaking through the night sky.
The Heart-Tempering Sword House’s reputation rose with him.
Just three thousand years after its founding, it was a true Heavenly Monarch-level faction!
By then, Jiang Wuchen already had ten generals under his banner and over a thousand sect members.
Divine Reverence Pavilion kept records and commentary on the factions that rose and fell throughout the Eternal Heavens Domain’s history. After the Devastation, no Heavenly Monarch-level faction of the New Beginning developed faster than the Heart-Tempering Sword House!
It had maintained that title ever since.
Back then, the Heart-Tempering Sword House was a new, albeit promising Heavenly Monarch faction, as Jiang Wuchen was the only Heavenly Monarch they had. His generals were all Immeasurable or even Silent Realm experts.
Its foundations were far from comparable to more well-established Heavenly Monarch factions.
But in the years that followed, Jiang Wuchen established himself as the mightiest Heavenly Monarch around—the Greatest of the Unthroned!
The Heart-Tempering Sword House rose to prominence with him, becoming a peak Heavenly Monarch faction. Almost none could compare.
That aside, Su Yi learned of the Heart-Tempering Sword House’s two halls, four pavilions, and thirteen mountains, as well as some of its feats and accomplishments.
But he saw nothing about Jiang Wuchen entering the cycle of reincarnation. He had no idea when it had happened or what had caused the shift in his mental state that led to the creation of the Malevolent Sword Venerate.
Su Yi couldn’t help but find this a pity.
When Su Yi first arrived in the Blue Peak Continent, he planned to visit the local Divine Reverence Pavilion for information, only for Qin Suqing to tell him that they didn’t have a base in the Blue Peak Continent.
The reason was simple. Their territories were limited to the four greatest continents of the Eternal Heavens Domain. They were nowhere to be found in the others.
Intelligence from the Divine Reverence Pavilion made it to the other continents as cultivators travelled.
Sending messages across continents was extraordinarily difficult. Only the four greatest continents had means of sending written messages and information.
By now, Su Yi had realized that places like the Blue Peak Continent were effectively their own isolated cultivation worlds. Only its top factions paid any attention to what went on outside it; the rest paid little heed to the Eternal Heavens Domain’s affairs.
It was much like how most of the cultivators of the God Domain spared little thought for the River of Destiny and the Eternal Heavens Domain. It was just too distant for most of them; only Master Gods were really paying attention.
But Su Yi wouldn’t look down on the Blue Peak Continent for this.
He was here for the first time, alone and unattached, and there was a lot he didn’t know and understand. Furthermore, he was still just an early-stage Unfettered Realm Eternal; he had no right to look down on the lowest ranked continent in the Eternal Heavens Domain.
He’d made a plan over the past two weeks.
Once Pu Xuan’s wounds healed, they’d set off and explore the Blue Peak Continent together. Su Yi wanted to see just how the continents of the Eternal Heavens Domain differed from a lower realm like the God Domain.
He’d be cultivating, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of his new environment.
Su Yi had conversed with the heart devil in the rusted sheath, who’d laughed at him, saying that he sat on an abundance of wealth without realizing it.
The way the heart devil saw it, there was no need for Su Yi to explore for himself. All he had to do was fuse with Xiao Jian and Jiang Wuchen’s Dao Imprints, and he’d gain a deep, thorough understanding of the Eternal Heavens Domain and the River of Destiny.
But Su Yi just smiled and said, “I don’t want to do that this time!”
He wasn’t putting on airs, nor did he state any specific reasons. He just didn’t want to. He wanted to search for himself, relying on himself to advance through Eternity. He wanted to point his sword at his enemies and sever the enmities of his past lives with his own strength!
When the heart devil heard that, he just sighed and praised Su Yi for his ambition. It was hard to say whether it was sincere or whether he was just making fun of Su Yi, but Su Yi didn’t care.
His path through the Eternal Dao was unique, unprecedented, and unlike that of other people. The moment he stepped into Eternity, he began a journey starkly different from Xiao Jian and Jiang Wuchen’s.
Even before stepping into Eternity, he could kill Unfettered Realm Eternals and fight the clones of Divine Wandering Realm experts.
Now, he’d created his own path through Eternity. The power of his sword had changed dramatically.
In this regard, Su Yi was far beyond Xiao Jian or Jiang Wuchen. It would have been no exaggeration to say that even Su Yi had no idea just how strong his Unfettered Realm cultivation really was!
But Su Yi really did have a lot of problems to face.
First, he needed to spend time and effort tempering his Eternal Dao Root and transforming his powers of the Grand Dao into Eternal Laws.
Second, he needed to increase the level and strength of the Sword of Proximity as soon as possible.
Third, he needed to grasp the situation in the Eternal Heavens Domain, the sooner the better.
That aside, he needed to gather cultivation resources and develop Eternal-level sword skills.
All of this would take time and money. Fortunately, Su Yi currently didn’t lack either.
He raised his teacup to his lips, drank, then sighed. The faces of his enemies rose to the forefront of his sea of consciousness.
Like Heavenly Sovereign Wen, Lu Shi, the Dipankara Buddha, and the Malevolent Sword Venerate.
I, Su Yi, have come to the Eternal Heavens Domain. I’ll naturally settle the score with all of you sooner or later!
Su Yi set down his teacup, leaned back into his chair, and dozed off.
The yellowed scroll in his sleeves was silent. It had gone completely dormant since he’d entered the Blue Peak Continent.
It hadn’t reacted to anything since he’d arrived. This led Su Yi to conclude that if he wanted to grasp its mysteries, he’d have to start with the River of Destiny.
The serving girl had deemed Su Yi lazy, and she wasn’t exactly wrong; over the past two weeks, Su Yi had always either meditated or rested in his chair, enjoying the beauty of the courtyard and gazing into the clouds.
He’d yet to take a single step outside his residence. Thus, he’d naturally yet to experience the hustle and bustle of the Great Qin’s imperial capital.
…
The imperial palace.
A pavilion carved out of white jade stood before the grand, magnificent palace. The pavilion was fully one hundred thousand feet tall, and it was known as “Heaven’s Viewpoint.”
Those who stood atop it could see more than half of the imperial capital.
A man in yellow robes and a jade belt stood there, accompanied by a gaunt elderly Daoist. The two stood side by side.
From here, they could see the nineteen residences deemed private property of the imperial city, off-limits to anyone without express permission.
However, the scenes in their courtyards were obscured by a mystical formation, as if they were shrouded in mist.
The formations would have stopped most people, but they posed no challenge to the thin old Daoist. A copper mirror floated over the palm of his hand, reflecting a vision of a man in blue languishing before a lotus pond, eyes shut as if dozing.
The yellow-robed man with the jade belt watched in silence for a moment before bursting into laughter. “Where did my sister find such a helper? He’s just snoring away without a care in the world. Even I can’t help but envy him.”
