Genetic Ascension - Chapter 1476: Chains [Bonus]

[Bonus chapter thanks to Ricky_D_Reader <3…. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH]
[Progress to Tier Four Madness Disciple]
>[Feed Madness Key F-Grade Legendary Genel>[Accumulate 100,000 Taboo Points (Complete)]>[<(N/A)/100,000>]>[Unlock Seed Essence (Complete)] —
Now, Sylas could become a Tier Four Madness Disciple whenever he wanted. He had long crossed the Taboo Point requirement because of how he had enraged the All- Seeing Eye of the previous Legendary System.
As for Seed Essence, he didn’t really know what it was, but had ironically cleared it because of the formation of his True Pride Seed. It seemed to manifest with Seed Essence already completed.
The last thing that was needed was the Legendary Gene.
Of course, he had already fed the Madness Key a Legendary Gene before, but that had been to get it to answer a question. Much like the Gold Gene he had fed it to reach Tier Three, the Gene he fed to raise his Tier had to be used for that purpose exclusively. Every time he upgraded, the power of the Scorned Wraps increased substantially. And honestly, the more powerful the geniuses he came across, and the stronger their backgrounds, the more Sylas realized just how invaluable the Scorned Wraps were to him as the only real treasure he had.
Right now, thanks to them, his Constitution was effectively over 100,000, and that was basically the only reason he could fight these battles without being instantly turned to minced meat.
Not to mention the boost it gave him in Killing those beyond himself by just… throwing them.
What sort of boost would it give him at Tier Four?
Before Sylas questioned the little girl any further, he passed the Legendary Gene over. “Send me to Tier Four,” he said calmly.
The little girl’s eyes flickered, but it was her duty to do this much.
“There will be some… issues,” she said eventually.
“Is it because my Seed Essence isn’t Gluttony, but Pride instead?”
“Sometimes it’s good that you’re smart.”
“And I assume that if I help you by “overfeeding’, you can help me manage these problems?”
“Yes.”
“Which probably means that the stronger you become in relation to myself and my control over Gluttony, the more control of the Madness Key and my Path you have. This probably means that there’s a path for you to replace me as the Gluttony Disciple by swallowing me, is that right?”
The little girl fell into silence, but that silence was as good as an answer.
She knew from the start that hiding something like this from someone as sharp as Sylas would be impossible.
Sylas had ended up becoming a Gluttony Disciple, but he was much better suited to Pride. To make matters worse, because the True Pride Seed had manifested within him on its own, it made it even harder for him to sense Gluttony properly.
He was no closer to reaching Seed Essence in his Gluttony Seed than he was the day he became a Tier Three Madness Disciple. In fact, he was closer with his Lust Seed after he had successfully used it to completely refine his Foundation.
In fact, he only needed one or two more experiences like he had had with the Demoness to succeed.
But she had never said this explicitly because he never asked.
Unfortunately for her chances at consuming Sylas’ Path, though… she had never needed to. Sylas could feel these things himself, and though she had saved his life and helped him more than once, she knew that he had never trusted her.
This simply wasn’t a man you could manipulate with emotion.
This was the fate of Madness Spirits, those that had lost themselves to Sin.
They needed a host powerful enough to upgrade the Madness Key to give them a chance. However, if this person was too powerful, they might never get that chance anyway.
Sylas was so perfect because he wasn’t well-tuned to Gluttony, but he had shocking talent on top of the fact Pride would obscure his Path even further.
That was all to say that even if this was an open secret… it didn’t matter. Things would still progress the way the little girl hoped.
Even if it wasn’t now or any time soon, there would come a moment when Sylas couldn’t bridge the gap anymore.
That would be her chance.
This was the Path of Sin, the fate of Madness Disciples.
There was no such thing as helping others out of the kindness of your heart. Whether you were a Spirit bound to a treasure or not.
[Threshold Reached]
[You Have Been Awarded: Tier Four Madness Disciple Rank]
[Taboo Threshold Raised] [Madness Key Upgraded][Scorned Wraps Upgraded]
[Scorned Wraps (Incomplete Treasure Set)]
A cursed treasure Scorned by the skies themselves. In its presence, your body cannot be adorned by armor, and your hands cannot be graced by weapons. The Madness is relentless, and its fury Scorns the world in return.
[Curse Status: Cannot be unequipped]
[+100% Constitution]
[Ability: Will Extension][Ability: Will Hardening]
There was a rattling that suddenly filled the air. The Scorned Wraps changed. Though the wrapped bandages themselves remained, chains began to appear around them, tightening around his wrists and feet.
With a thought, the chains danced in the air much like the bandages had been able to. But the difference… Chi.
They cut down through the air, whipping out with a vicious, hard momentum.
The little girl watched to the side with an odd expression, as though there was something she didn’t understand, but this time, Sylas didn’t seem to notice her at all.
Is this Will Hardening?” Sylas’ eyes narrowed. “Interesting.
Until now, the Scorned Wraps were purely defensive, but now they seemed to exhibit some attack prowess with Sylas’ telekinesis. The weight of the chains themselves was entirely dependent on Sylas’ telekinesis as well.
They could be as light as a feather or as heavy as mountains.
However, Sylas was a bit confused as well. The little girl had told him he should never think of the Scorned Wraps as treasures. She had said the sooner he thought of them as the chains they were, the safer he would be.
But no matter how he looked at it… he simply couldn’t see the downside.
A chance to kill any and all existences regardless of power in exchange for never being able to use another treasure was worth it… No?
What was he missing?
