Genetic Ascension - Chapter 1478: Unbridled Domain

Sylas stood in silence for a long while, realizing now just what sort of choice was sitting before him.
No, not a choice. There was no choice to be made here.
This was an opportunity. One he could either grasp, or forever be crushed beneath the weight of inferiority.
If what the little girl was saying was correct—and it certainly was—there were only so many Paths to Godhood in existence.
The universe tended toward perfection. Those that were worthy of surviving would, and those that were weak would die out early, or their traits would be eradicated.
It was the simple concept of survival of the fittest, Darwinism as it was understood by Earth.
But what would happen if every time a Race reached the apex, they kicked down the ladder they had used?
If this happened enough times, over enough years, you would eventually reach a state where the universe was so constrained that maybe no God Races would appear anymore.
Or, maybe… you would reach a situation where there was a limited number of spaces to level up.
“Seven Mortal Thryskai Clans… Seven Demi-God Thryskai Clans… Seven God Thryskai Clans…
A single Demi-God Clan’s eradication had sent an entire corner of the universe into a mad scramble. Soon, countless Horizons would be embroiled in war all for the chance to scale this ladder and reach a new state.
And now… this little girl was telling Sylas that if he wanted an inside track to climbing this ladder, he simply couldn’t afford to miss out on this chance.
The weight of it all fell heavily on Sylas’ shoulders.
This was an opportunity he couldn’t miss out on. No matter what.
“How many Legendary Genes do you need to upgrade me to Tier Five Disciple?”
“One thousand,” the little girl said quickly.
Sylas pressed out a palm, and the world shook and churned. There was a roar, and the territory was sucked dry of all its Aether in a single instant of time.
It had to be remembered that the beauty of Breath Mastery was that a Rune Master no longer needed to provide Runes with their own Aether. A Rune would naturally cannibalize the Aether in the atmosphere and sustain itself.
The only reason the likes of the Ravenclaws had to tattoo Runes onto their bodies with special materials was because none of them had been Breath Masters. Using inks suffused with Aether was the only way for them to power their Runes in battle without being sucked dry every time.
So, when Sylas drew so many Legendary Genes at once, the pressure it placed on the atmosphere could be imagined.
“Which means…
[Unbridled Counter (Gene Skill) (FFF+)] (Bronze Mastery)
[The battlefield is your domain, Aether follows your call. Activate your Unbridled Counter Domain and Counter the Skill activation of opponents with ease] [Cost: 10 Aether Units per Second]
Unbridled Counter was a Gene Skill that Sylas had self-created by observing the Monarchs of the Africor Continent. Back then, they had tried to take over the Silver City of Earth and also tried to use Nosphaleen as a bridge to make attacking their home world easier.
However, much like everything else, it had fallen by the wayside.
What Sylas was finding now, though… was that everything was so much easier to comprehend when you had Wisdom over 300,000. Connections flashed into being, and one deduction so easily leapt to the next.
[Skill Upgraded. Congratulations, Skill Progenitor]
[Unbridled Counter > Unbridled Domain (FFF+) (Growth Skill)]
[The battlefield is your domain, Aether follows your call. Activate your Unbridled Domain and all those with a combined average Will and Intelligence beneath your own will be unable to cast Skills] [Abilities: Passive]
Such a strong passive countering Skill… Even Sylas was a bit caught off guard.
But as powerful as this Skill was passively, if he activated his Aether and churned away at it, he could make it even more powerful.
The system was also imperfect at comprehending Will. Just because someone had Will stronger than Sylas’ by the numbers didn’t mean they had a stronger Will than him either.
To put this into perspective, the Boros Race would have been unable to cast any Skills against Sylas at all, and only half of the Ouro would have been capable of doing so!
The Ouro and Boros both were Races adept at Will usage too, and it was simply relevant.
Sylas clenched and then unclenched his fist. A Perfect Spark Master… was truly powerful.
“Here.”
Sylas completed the thousandth Rune. He had to complete them in batches; otherwise, all the Aether in the territory would be sucked dry, and that would lead to problems.
The little girl didn’t hesitate, swallowing it all.
She became realer, more substantial with every one she swallowed. Maybe only an A- Grade Race could use F-Grade Legendary Genes so willfully, and yet here Sylas was. But to him, this was only the beginning.
There would come a day where even S-Grade Legendary Genes were nothing to him. SHUU.
Sylas waved a hand again, another hundred Legendary Genes forming. Without hesitation, he passed them onto the little girl, who seemed to have grown a year or two older. From maybe four or five years old, she looked closer to six or seven now. However, Sylas couldn’t focus on this much as he felt his body shudder.
[Threshold Reached]
[You Have Been Awarded: Tier Five Madness Disciple Rank]
[Taboo Threshold Raised] [Madness Key Upgraded][Scorned Wraps Upgraded]
[Scorned Wraps (Incomplete Treasure Set)]
A cursed treasure Scorned by the skies themselves. In its presence, your body cannot be adorned by armor, and your hands cannot be graced by weapons. The Madness is relentless, and its fury Scorns the world in return.
[Curse Status: Cannot be unequipped]
[+100% Constitution]
[Ability: Will Extension][Ability: Will Hardening] [Ability: Will Manifestation] Sylas’ gaze flickered when he saw this. He was still hoping for an improvement to Constitution, but it seemed he was hoping for too much. If it could give that, maybe it would be too good. But Will Manifestation? What was…
Sylas’ eyes widened.
