Genetic Ascension - Chapter 1859 Don't Die

Chapter 1859: Don’t Die
“You’re leaving already?” Elara seemed on the verge of throwing a fit.
Sylas had technically only been back for three days or so. Half the time he spent at the bottom of the ocean, and the other half he had spent battling it out in the skies with damned alien invaders.
Well, there was also a significant portion of that time he had spent in his room with Cassarae, but that only added to Elara’s disgruntlement.
She was actually quite used to spending a lot of time with her brother. She and Sylas used to play brain teaser games together all the time.
Had she ever won? No. But she felt like he stopped playing to dodge the embarrassment of losing to his little sister.
They had grown up quite close despite their age gap. There had even been times where Sylas would piggyback her while he went on runs, a tradition they had even kept up while on the Grimblade Clan compound.
Now, however, they hardly spent any time together at all. He hardly even replied to the messages she sent him.
“I’m bored out of my mind. I can’t just keep staying here,” Elara complained.
“There’s plenty to do here,” Sylas replied.
“Like what?! Mom won’t even let me go into the weaker Dungeons. It’s a travesty!”
It sounded like she really wanted to say another word, but Isolde’s glare from across the room tightened her up quite swiftly.
“When you’re an adult, you can do what you want.”
Elara let a miserable groan out. She was still three years away from that. And even if she did turn 18, it would probably take another 2 to 3 years after that before her mother realized she really was an adult now.
“Isn’t there an intergalactic academy or something out there?”
“Maybe. But I’d never send you to one,” Sylas said quite straightforwardly.
Elara put her arms up in exasperation. Of course not.
She could understand why. Sending Elara off to a place like that was just asking for her to get kidnapped and used against him. He didn’t have the luxury.
Not until he was untouchable.
And by then, Elara would be enough to protect herself more than well enough.
Even just letting Cassarae go off on her own left him a bit uneasy. If not for the fact the Angels only wanted to use Cassarae for her Will, his wife could very well be dead right now.
That was a fact that Sylas had yet to properly grapple with.
There was a limit to how far he could stretch himself, and he couldn’t be everywhere at once. And even if he could, while he was busy trying to make sure his own life remained intact, it was hard to expect him to be able to stretch himself thin enough to likewise protect everyone else at the same time.
It was too difficult.
Part of him just wished to keep everyone on Earth. Like this, he could use his Horizon Treasure to teleport back whenever he was needed and would be able to instantly help them at any moment.
Sure, there were probably limits of some kind. But he was more than well-suited to dealing with them.
And whatever limits there were, he would find a way to break them.
However, when Sylas was going to leave, he gave another glance to his mother and paused.
If for no other reason than making her happy, Sylas knew that he couldn’t just leave as though nothing had happened. While he had given his mother a task, he would be lying if he said he expected a great deal out of it.
Sure, Earth would now have resources of another caliber entirely, but was he really betting on them?
Not really.
If he just ignored his little sister again, it would be the same thing.
Sylas looked at Elara’s disappointed face for a moment and then raised a hand.
In an instant, Runes began to dance, forming a more and more complex mesh until it solidified into a humanoid creature of metal and armor.
“Communicate with it.”
Elara blinked, her head tilting to a side. She looked at it a bit confused for a moment and then began to walk around
it.
“You !” Elara’s eyes went wide.
She didn’t need to say it out loud. This wasn’t just a humanoid this was her. This was her in every sense of the word. She had a feeling that if Sylas wanted, he could have even given it flesh.
Sylas had superseded her methods by an impossible margin. Her ability to form organic matter through her Rune Mastery had almost stolen Sylas’ Primus Luminaria Title from him. But this… This was well beyond.
If not for the sake of not wanting to freak out others, Sylas could have perfectly replicated what was effectively an exact replica of what her corpse would have looked like with a casual thought.
And when he said to communicate with it…
Elara pressed a hand to it and then hurriedly pulled it back. She felt her Will naturally wanting to flow into it. If she stayed in contact for too long, her Will would split in two, and then there would be two versions of her, neither of which would truly be her anymore.
There was a flicker of curiosity and even fear in Elara’s eyes for just the smallest fragment of a moment.
But then she understood what Sylas wanted, and she reached out instead with her telekinesis.
The eyes of the humanoid metal construct lit up as it was flooded with Elara’s intent.
“I can grant you some permissions. Earth will help you project your telekinesis much further than you would be able to otherwise, though there’ll be a slight lag and delay.
“Like this, you can explore all of Earth as though you are there. You will feel, experience, and know what it means to put your life on the line every day.” Sylas smiled with a minor quirk of his lips and patted his sister’s head. “Good luck. Don’t die, otherwise I won’t be here to make you another one.”
