Genetic Ascension - Chapter 1872 Bulese and Kalem

Chapter 1872: Bulese and Kalem
Sylas looked away. The city continued to buzz as though nothing had happened. Though there were probably others who sensed the pulsing of the teleportation channels, it wasn’t too much of a surprise.
What they couldn’t feel was the subtlety that Sylas could. The amount of weight and presence this person took up in the Mesh of Reality was larger than life.
There were certainly many such powerful characters in the city, and they were once again nothing in comparison to Fanelei. But the fact that such a powerful person was teleporting right into the city instead of having to travel to the city like Sylas had spoke volumes.
This was, of course, only Sylas’ guess. He didn’t know much about the city, and this wasn’t information Fanelei could give him. But he couldn’t have been more correct.
The teleportation channel he sensed just now came from one left for the exclusive usage of Beast Emperor Sanctum disciples.
A pair a young man and a young woman-stepped off the teleportation channel, ignoring the chatter of everyone around them.
“Bulese-.”
“Stop.” The young woman-Bulese immediately shook her head, grabbing the young man’s arm. “You heard father. I’m taking point on this. It’s been centuries since the last time he woke up, and his mood might not be the best since he failed to enter the S-tier. We need him, and I’m not about to let your ego ruin everything.”
Bulese was truly speechless. She didn’t know why her father had even allowed Kalem to come in the first place. Everyone in the Clan knew how much of a hothead he was-even more so than the usual Lion Lineage descendant, which was saying quite a lot.
She shook her head again. Who was she kidding? She knew exactly why.
Her father had always been a chauvinistic asshole. Kalem was his firstborn and a man, but he was levels of incompetence above Bulese and completely incapable of protecting the future of their Lion Lineage.
Basically, the entire board of elders was behind Bulese as the future 714th Emperor, but her father was still holding out hope that Kalem would get his head out of his ass.
He wouldn’t. Bulese knew that. But she also loved her brother.
The good news was that even through all the nonsense, the siblings still had a good relationship.
The bad news was that this didn’t make it any more likely that Kalem would listen to her.
The worse news was that though she was the far better leader, Kalem was almost as powerful as she was despite being incredibly lazy in his training. If he applied himself as much as she did, rather than her being the more powerful party as it was now, he just might be a level beyond her.
“I got it, I got it.” Kalem muttered, running a hand through his wild hair. His nails were long and curved enough to prickle at his scalp and threaten to shred a layer of skin off, but he didn’t seem to feel it.
“Listen, Kalem. I know you’re mad, but anger doesn’t mean-.”
Bulese stopped, shaking her head.
They were on the planet of a Progenitor right now. Maldrith could listen in on them whenever he wanted. That was why she had made it a point to explain all of this before they left.
But the moment they appeared on the planet, Kalem had already begun to storm off like he had a bone to pick with somebody. That was what got her nagging again.
She took another deep breath.
“I believe in you, Kalem.” she said.
Kalem blinked and looked back at his little sister. “What nonsense are you talking about now? You’re going to make me blush. Let’s go.”
Bulese chuckled at her brother’s embarrassed face but didn’t let go of his arm. In fact, she wrapped a second arm around it.
“Yes, let’s go. I think we should give it some time and hope this great-grand-uncle of ours comes out of his own accord. If he doesn’t, then we’ll try the other method.”
“Fine, fine. In that case, let’s go to the pillars.”
Bulese rolled her eyes as though she knew her brother would say exactly that.
“Fine. Let’s go to the pillars.”
Sylas had been in such a rush earlier, not even properly finishing his trials, and yet right this moment, Fanelei could only speechlessly watch as he walked from store to store as though he were some sort of tourist.
She didn’t understand it at all. The quality of life in the Weaver Guild wasn’t too far beyond this, but it was at least a half step better.
This was a bit of a surprise considering this world wasn’t in the main territory of the Beast Emperor Sanctum, and it definitely made her curious. But not curious enough to answer why Sylas was fascinated by this world while he had basically ignored everything Planet Weaver had to offer.
Plus there was the fact that even if this world was 10 times more interesting, she just didn’t get the impression from Sylas that he was the sort to feel as though he needed to be in shock and awe of everything he saw.
Of course, it wasn’t like that awe was painted on Sylas’ face. He was wearing the same deadpan expression he always did.
But it might as well have been compared to his usual baseline. Otherwise, why would he be so interested in everything they came across?
Slowly, they made their way to the center of the city, and the shops went from shops to spots of entertainment. And then from spots of entertainment to what almost looked like a… military encampment?
Now Sylas was truly interested.
It looked like a jungle gym of gold sprawled out in front of him. However, there was only a single young man there.
He stood in front of a pillar in absolute silence. But Sylas could see it.
His entire body was pulled taut, his blood flooding his limbs.
