Genetic Ascension - Chapter 1912 As Expected

Chapter 1912: As Expected
The first thing Sylas wanted to do was strengthen his personal army. Gogo, the Hollow Wing, and Nosphaleen needed to reach their full potential, and he needed to consider expanding them.
There was a point of diminishing returns when he did this. There wasn’t exactly a hard cap on the number of Contracts he could have, but there was an implied cap.
The more powerful his Contracts were, and the more he had, the more stress there was on his Will to sustain that many.
It was fine if their loyalty was high like with Gogo and Nosphaleen, but if he had tried to claim a certain Azurex, for example, that would have been near impossible.
It had taken him a long time to gain the loyalty he had with Gogo and Nosphaleen. Gogo had originally hated his guts, and Nosphaleen relied on him out of necessity more than anything else.
If he wanted to rapidly expand his army, he obviously wouldn’t be able to give them as much care.
The Hollow Wing wasn’t a problem because it was a Combat Mount and he only needed to subdue it a single time. The system would handle the rest.
But anything else?
He could only use one Combat Mount at the same time, and using the Hollow Wing as a normal Contract required using the Scorned Wraps and a lot more pressure on his Will.
The good news? Vipermancy was far more powerful now than it had been in the past. So, from Sylas’ calculations, he could take on another three or so Gogo-level talents before it really started eating into his reserves.
He could have a few more Nosphaleen-level talents, but that would be variable.
Once again, his Will was his limiting factor. But if the Contracts weren’t extremely powerful, it would be a waste of time.
Despite the oddity of this world, in action, he could only control E-tier beasts. If he just contracted any old beast, they would just end up getting one-shot at the level of battles he was involved in.
The second thing he had to do was improve the Emperor Sanctum. This wasn’t just by helping their Rune Mastery; their Will comprehension itself was highly lacking.
Sylas easily had the strongest Will Grade amongst them all. They couldn’t even sense how special his Will was; the gap was too far. Even their Ancestors were inferior to him.
But improving their Will Grade was easier said than done. What they really needed was a better reflection of the Beast Wills they represented.
The Lion’s representation of Pride made him sick to his stomach. What kind of true Pride relied on the rallying call of others?
The Ape was closer to something he found agreeable. Most of his hatred for the Ape came from the demoted Warlord Armor that made them act like real animals.
The Serpent made him feel even more disgusted than the Lion did, and that was a true feat.
The Whale was the only one that was quite beautiful. If he had to decide which of the four Lineages was actually the strongest, it should be the Whale. But that was because they embodied the Will of their creature the best. It was just that they were less assertive than the Lion.
Yet, the biggest scourge of the entire Sanctum was the Scorpion.
The Scorpion originally represented Greed instead of the Rat. It was time to change that.
This was obviously a huge risk, but Sylas knew that he was going to have to take risks.
In fact, if he could find an incarnation of the hippo here, he just might use it and replace the Ape Lineage with the true incarnation of Wrath.
But he would have to be very wary of doing this. If he did so, the Wrath Madness Disciple would essentially certainly be alerted and become yet another enemy of his.
He would have to play it by ear.
And that left the last thing Sylas had to do.
Strengthen himself.
Thanks to the Monkey King, his E-tier Foundation was nearly perfectly primed. He just had to build it.
But he still needed to pass one Class Quest and one Profession Quest before he could make it to D-tier.
If he could improve Vipermancy to D-tier, that would be ideal. But every one of his Quests was like climbing the tallest mountains.
That meant that in order of priority, Sylas’ best bet at this moment was to improve his Serpentes Army.
Improving Gogo and Nosphaleen to Level 100 would be easy. They were both Overlords; he just needed to help them kill a few D-tier and C-tier creatures in this world.
What would be more tricky was finding other beasts. That said…
Another hour later, Sylas came to a stop.
When he said it would be uncomplicated to get Nosphaleen and Gogo both to Level 100, he had meant it.
While it would be nearly impossible for him to deal damage to B- and A-tiers in this world without an elaborate trap, C-tiers were not the same.
He simply let Nosphaleen and Gogo land the final blow on a few of them, and it didn’t take much more than an hour before they had already shot up to the limits of the E-tier.
But now came the harder part.
Even with access to this world, Sylas had no confidence in getting Gogo to Sacred. To improve a Legendary Basilisk to Sacred required more than resources; it needed personal enlightenment and Gogo properly awakening his Pride to the very limits.
Sylas didn’t seem to be worried, though, as he found a cave structure that he closed himself up within. Then, he slipped through the void and into his Hibernation Realm.
‘As expected,’ he said with a nod to himself.
Sylas looked toward his city for a short while. It was as he expected. While in a collapsed world where the laws were broken, the adaptation the system was forced to make in order to continue allowing his Hibernation Realm to be by his side was quite something.
And that also meant…
Sylas’ body phased one more time.
