Chapter 1931: Wasting Time (1) [Bonus]
[Bonus thanks to BobTheEngineer <3]
“You are wasting your time.” The echo of the Hydra’s voice filled Sylas’ ears as he was lost in thought.
He directly ignored it.
If the Hydra wasn’t going to help him until he reached Infinite Void Mastery of the E-tier, then it was worthless to spend any time listening to it, especially since the odds it would say something intelligent while in such a compromised state were near zero.
The fact of the matter was that Sylas had always been confident in himself. If he could figure out how to make Nosphaleen a Serpentes when he knew so little about this world, he didn’t believe that he couldn’t do the same now.
Granted, Nosphaleen had already had the lineage of a Mesmeryx in her, and her body had been somewhat altered to fit the Comprehension she had. By definition, a Comprehension was a Layer of the body, so she had the internal structures that were necessary.
By comparison, just finding a Will compatible with a beast as powerful as the Hydra in this place was already near impossible, let alone finding one that not only fit, but could also be bent and twisted to fit into a mutated Serpentes Path as well.
While Convergent Evolution seemed to make things identical, they were only identical in function or appearance. The internal structures themselves might very well be vastly different.
If they were so similar, there was no reason the so-called “incompetent” system wouldn’t foolishly mistake Hydras for Serpentes. But Sylas’ Vipermancy Profession didn’t even react to the Hydra.
And therein lay the last of the problems he faced. Without the intuition that came from Vipermancy guiding him, he had to deduce, calculate, and reach every conclusion on his own.
The computational rigor something like that took was off the charts.
The first time Sylas saw Gogo’s Gene structure back when he was still clearing missions to gather Experience for Vipermancy, which had been at Level 0, he had felt overwhelmed, so much so he could hardly look at it.
Now, a bit of that same feeling was coming back… the difference was that there wasn’t something as clear as a Gene Sequence in front of him.
All of this pointed to the Hydra’s words being correct. However…
Standing in the skies, Sylas was quickly referencing and cross-referencing various Gene Structures and Wills in his mind.
As difficult as this was apparently painted to be, Sylas came to a pretty quick conclusion.
“Three days.” He said after a while.
“What did you just say?” the Hydra was in the process of throwing a bit of a tantrum because Sylas was ignoring it.
It honestly didn’t expect Sylas to say much of anything after so long had passed.
Sylas didn’t reply to this question either. Instead, he took a breath and gazed into the skies.
Beacon.
A sonorous golden ring pulsed out from Sylas. Then, as far as the eye could see, and even further beyond that, every F-tier Serpentes that felt the ring ripple across them looked toward a single direction.
Without hesitation, they all rushed toward Sylas.
The forest floor quaked and Sylas closed his eyes, slowly pressing his hands together.
The last aspect of his Mental Stats that hadn’t reached Willborne was his Wisdom. He felt so very close and yet so very far at the same time.
He hadn’t reached it yet even now, and honestly, after his brain’s evolution, he felt like he was further from it than ever before. His Wisdom was more potent now, more powerful, and harder to truly grasp. Its Effectiveness was well off the charts.
But at the present moment, Sylas didn’t even feel like he needed it.
His brain had elevated to such an exaggerated level that if before he felt like the world was already in the palm of his hands, right now it was like he was soaring even beyond that.
His eyes snapped open and right then, warping portals began to appear across the Mancer Scape.
He knew that if he called so many F-tiers forward, a large number of them were bound to die while attempting to cross the territories of far more powerful beasts. So, instead of potentially wasting what was ultimately a finite number of resources, he built them bridges.
Space bent and warped beneath his Will, twisting and ripping apart.
The Serpentes that were further away found themselves bounding forward dozens of kilometers at a time.
Sylas found that he was controlling-with ease the space in hundreds of thousands of regions at once. The number of divisions he could split his mind into had completely overshadowed what he had once been capable of back on Earth.
He remembered a time where he could barely split his mind a handful of ways.
And now he stood like a god in the skies…
‘There’s still a long way to go. And I’ll get there.’ He thought coldly.
One after another, a cascading avalanche of F-tier Serpentes Constructs appeared around Sylas, each one unique, and each one radiating a slightly unique Will compared to the companion by their side.
They looked at Sylas reverentially, not a single one of them having any intention of disobeying or even resisting.
Sylas’ eyes flashed like lightning as he accounted for and memorized every one of them.
In Sylas’ mind, he had already thought of many working combinations of Serpentes that would be able to accomplish what he wanted. However, there were two problems.
The first was more selfish. Just because a Will was good enough to reflect what he wanted didn’t mean it was fine enough for his standards.
He was trying to form a new species of Serpentes, reviving a Hydra, a true God Beast. He wouldn’t settle for just alright.
The second was the real problem, though. As great as this idea of combining Wills and crafting this perfect reflection of a Serpentes Hydra was, there was a glaring issue.
How did one go about playing God to this extent? How could you even combine two living beings, two souls, into
one?
