All the hundred soldiers of the Red Dawn cult split up into squads and ran in different directions. Each squad had five members and a single device that showed the deep geographic scan of their surroundings.

There was genuine relief in his voice, and his words made Wuhan feel the warmth of comradeship. He was proud of his soldiers for having such courageous and compassionate hearts.

He nodded back at the man and asked, “How is your recovery coming along?”

The guard had already kneeled down. “Only the superficial wounds are left to heal. I have already taken a healing and recovery pill. I can already move properly; there should be no problem.”

Wuhan nodded and immediately ordered, “Since you are fine, prepare for departure. We have to find others and leave this forest undetected.”

“Although I fear that those people might have already dispatched a force to look for us or, worse, set a trap around their royal castle.”

Although stunned by his words, the guard nodded without hesitation. “I will follow your will, your majesty. Please give me the orders!”

He started following different marks placed in different directions. Within three hours, he found two more of his people.

One of them was already healed, while the other was badly injured. The healed guard left the two of them in search of his comrades, like the first guard, while Wuhan tended to the wounds of the third.

“Here, take this.” After analyzing the rate of his injuries, Wuhan passed a pill to the guard, who took it after some hesitation. The hesitation arose from the fact that he did not want to waste the precious pill on himself, but a serious look from his emperor silenced his doubts before they could even bloom.

The pale blue pill had barely slipped down his throat when the soldier felt its effects taking root. He raised his bloody robes and looked over his shoulder to see the gaping wound, the shape of a claw with several splinters of wood still embedded in it.

“Argh!” Instantly the muscles on his back convulsed, and the splinters were pushed out on their own before the wound started to heal as well. An azure light covered the skin and pushed energy into the torn tissues to heal it.

Wuhan let out a sigh of relief seeing the man heal instantly, but before he could relax completely, he heard something.

He heard the faint sound of wind brushing against the leaves and something fluttering in the air. That whistling sound made Wuhan’s body tense immediately; qi flared up in his hands, enveloping them in the shape of a mouth.

Not just any mouth but the mouth of a beast.

He had barely turned and let his soul sense escape his soul realm before several figures appeared at the gates of the tree.

Having his mind caught in the situation of the soldier before him took more of his attention than he should have allowed, letting these figures come close to them.

For a moment, Wuhan prayed in his heart that the people who arrived were his own. But as fate would have it, things rarely go as you plan.

Standing in the shade of the doorway, ten figures made their presence known to the duo.

Light darkened their already cloaked appearance.

“Target confirmed, prepare to engage.” The two people holding the detection radar spoke coldly as they put away the device.

The eight soldiers in the back stepped forward, different weapons in their hands, all illuminating arrays of qi signatures.

‘I have to end this fast and with the least disturbance.’ By now Wuhan’s soul sense had covered a giant part of the area, and he knew only the ten people before him were currently in this area.

Although he did not know how many of them had entered the forest, he understood that the chaos would attract unwanted attention.

The guard behind Wuhan also flinched, seeing the unexpected arrival of their enemies. Despite his severe situation, he forced himself to stand up straight, slowing the rate of healing, and brought a sword out of his own.
