Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!! - Chapter 788 - 788: On The Run

“Please forgive me, your majesty, for going against your orders and using my ‘skills’ without your clearance.” The man lowered his head and begged for mercy. “Not only that, you even had to get burned to save me.”
Wuhan smiled wryly hearing those words and shook his head. “I know I asked you to keep your identity as my shadow guard hidden, but no one saw you today, and it was a matter of our safety.”
He lowered his head and glanced at the marks on his body that were close to being completely “For that reason… you are excused, and these wounds are superficial. Now, hurry and change your clothes; we have to look for others.”
With swift movements, they changed out of their robes and wore something cleaner before moving in the direction their companions had left before.
Not long after they left, three more squads who had been looking for them arrived at the scene.
“Two squads have been annihilated, but we also have enemy energy signatures lingering in the air. Record them and find them.”
The man did not have to say it twice, and everyone moved to store the traces of energy within their devices. Once they were done analyzing the scene, the soldiers of the Red Dawn cult did not stay any longer and disappeared in different directions.
Everything took less than a few seconds, but that was enough for Wuhan to catch up with the rest of the people he had brought along.
“Is anyone hurt?” Wuhan asked the moment he reached the place where eight of his warriors had gathered.
“Everyone is stable. They have already healed their injuries.” Captain Blacksword spoke with a pale face. “Some of the cultists found us, and I had to fight them. There were twenty of them…”
No wonder you are out of qi.” Wuhan whispered, shaking his head.
“Your majesty, what about Sylvheriel?” Captain Black Sword waved his hand with a lazy smile on his face and slumped down on the ground before asking. “Did you find any traces of her?”
Wuhan shook his head. “After she ran from that… being, I could not find any traces of her.” While talking about the lord of the night, Wuhan’s eyes were filled with a wave of complicated emotions, and his voice also grew somber. “But if she had thought of escaping the forest, there is no doubt she would have been captured. We will find an opportunity to look for her if it’s not too late.”
The captain only let out a weary sigh, knowing what his emperor had spoken was the truth.
After some deliberation, he spoke up and asked. “What should we do now? It seems that they have sent an army to search for us. We cannot stay here for long without being discovered.”
With the amount of dangers they had faced, they had doubts if they should retreat or not.
What was a reconnaissance mission turned into a full-blown fight with a being beyond their grasp.
How were they supposed to continue on like this…
But despite their doubts, the soldiers believed more in their emperor and the choices he made.
Which was why when Wuhan said, “We will stay in the forest for a while. My friend should be finishing with his task just about now.” No one voiced out any doubts.
“Ah, your friend.” Captain felt his lips twitch as he heard Wuhan mention Noah. ‘Almost forgot about that guy. Where is he even at this point?’
As much as he wanted to ask where Noah was, Captain Black Sword knew if the man wanted to tell him, he would have told him already.
“We will wait for a signal from his side and only move then.” Wuhan gave orders one by one: “Until then we will stay here, in this forest.”
“What if they find us first?” Even though he had a feeling he would not like the answer, the captain still went ahead and asked it.
“Then, we make sure to reduce the numbers of our enemy’s army, even if it’s by a small amount.” Wuhan replied with a smile, “And it will be your duty to do just that.”
‘You Monster!!’ The captain lost the brilliance in his gaze and fell on the ground like a dead man, his empty gaze drifting towards the sky.
“Sire…” One of the guards hesitated and stepped forward. “It will be nighttime soon. What if—?”
The man did not even have to continue, as everyone understood what he was talking about.
They all thought about the previous night and shuddered in lingering fear.
Even the ‘dead’ captain looked a bit revived, but the despair on his face only deepened.
Fortunately for them, their emperor seemed to be more confident than the rest of them.
“Don’t worry about that…” Wuhan spoke in a mysterious tone, “That thing will no longer trouble us.”
He did not elaborate anymore and changed the topic: “I want you seven to make three and take shifts to keep an eye on our surroundings.”
“If they send even a fly to spy on us…” His eyes flashed with a cold light. Suddenly raising a hand in a random direction, he shot off energy that collided with a bird in the distance, coming in their direction.
Boom!
The bird exploded into mechanical parts, which fell down on the ground.
“We will change locations every two hours, so take all the rest you can get.”
Unlike normal humans, cultivators needed little to no rest to stay in their peak state. They can even substitute their rests with special pills.
“Understood!” The seven guards took the orders in unison and spread out. Two of them, in the best state, stood on guard while the rest focused on recovering.
Even the lazy captain was seriously absorbing energy from a pill to restore his empty dantian.
Wuuhan turned his gaze away from them and looked towards the center of the forest. ‘I wonder what their next course of action will be like?’
