- Chapter 816 - 816: The Eternal Flames Of Glory

Woosh!
From within the ashes, the faint glow of Wuhan’s soul seed escaped. Seeing this, Feng Niu squeezed her brows together.
Known to the few high-ranking members of the Red Fire Continent, there were six forces in the world that no ordinary power could contend with.
With time, as they assimilated more power, these forces drew away from the attention of the world, slowly hiding themselves in the shadows while the forces under them did the work for them.
Eventually these families took over the most qi-enriched island they could find and trapped it in a hidden space, claiming it as their own.
These powers now came to be known as the Hidden Families.
The Six hidden Families all have a special element they are better at than anyone else. The Ming Family specializes in Yin Attribute while their main family has the bloodline related to the death attribute.
The Kaze family claims absolute mastery over the wind element and loves to show off their bloodline of Typhoon.
The Ling Family has their water element, but the main lineage is formed with just the bloodline of frost.
The Mo Family are the spirit Farers and also the specialists of the earth element.
The Zhao Family, fiery and hot-blooded as their fire element. Their bloodline may not sound as grand as others, but its powers rivaled the other families as well.
Xu Family were the famous healers who could arguably heal any injuries and even regrow a lost limb. Their mastery over healing came from their special Yang attributes.
Now the reason Feng Niu was thinking about the six hidden families was because she was once part of them as well.
She was known as the stain of the Zhao family. The clan, which prided themselves as the ruler of the fire element, now had a child who could touch the darkness, the same element they detested.
It was not just the case with her but with all six hidden families; the reason they stayed on top was because they would either disown the child who did not match their bloodline and attribute or they would use them as leverage and marry them off.
These families believed in the purity of the bloodlines, and they would not let anything bring them down from glory, even if it were their own children.
The fates of these children were decided by how useful they were. If they had no talent, they would be discarded without care.
But in rare cases, someone talented appeared… they would be married off or used for trading favors in some other way.
But the case with Feng Niu, who was formerly known as Zhao Niu, was different.
The Zhao family wanted to get rid of her because she was something they despised.
Since they could not act openly, they made moves in the shadows, but the Feng Niu was too powerful for them to handle.
Soon, she realized the truth and left the hidden realm to search the outside realm and grow powerful.
Later she settled down in the Feng Empire, chose a groom for herself, and got married.
The person she chose was none other than the Emperor of the Feng Empire at that time.
As for the reason? She wanted to give birth to an heir with the rumored phoenix bloodline that never appeared again after the first emperor.
She planned to have her child grow and destroy the Zhao family for her as a way of her own twisted revenge.
But after he was born, she kind of forgot about her revenge.
Feng Niu killed her husband and also removed the competition for Wuhan so he could claim the throne for himself.
But… things never went as she had planned.
“How good it would have been if you just followed my words…” Feng Niu whispered to herself, lowering her head. But in Wuhan’s image, she saw something that made her smile.
The image of her past self, the defiant woman who did not like to follow the path others laid for her even if it was the best path there was.
‘Guess we are the same in some way.’
Woosh!
Her reminiscing was cut short when Wuhan’s soul seed started pulsing.
“What are you doing?” Her voice sounded colder than before. Feng Niu’s words did not sound like a question but more of a statement. “There has to be a limit to your stupidity.”
Despite what Noah had just said, she did not believe Wuhan was capable of something like that.
Which was why she was waiting for him to stand up once more. She wanted to witness it for herself.
The birth of a legendary bloodline.
But what she saw… It disappointed her.
“You barely even scratched the surface of how to be a real soul-budding realm cultivator, yet you want to advance from the Embryonic Soul Stage to the Nascent Soul stage?”
In the Embryonic Soul Stage, the soul energy is condensed within the dantian of the cultivator.
Just like a baby in its mother’s womb. The soul is nourished within the cultivator.
This soul state is also called soul seed.
The nourishment for the souls is the laws of nature, which strengthen the soul energy and make it powerful enough to step out of its Embryonic stage and become a Nascent Soul.
“You are only wasting your potential; I might as well kill you now rather than you having the delusions of ever surpassing me.”
The coldness in her voice left no delusions that she would not follow through with her threat.
Feng Niu raised her arm, gathering the sinister qi at the tip of her fingers before aiming it at Wuhan’s soul.
Yet to her surprise, the soul was ignoring her.
“You keep underestimating your own son.” Noah spoke leisurely from the distance while looking at Wuhan’s soul seed with a faint smile on his face. “You, someone who has been alive for hundreds of years, of all people should know how much humans tend to evolve when they are cornered.”
The pulsing embryo was showing signs of cracking.
“Not to mention if they have the right resources at their disposal.”
The former empress sneered without looking back, “Do you think I would fall for the same trick? Stop me if you want to buy him some time, or shut up.”
‘Wait—what’s that? ‘ Just then, Feng Niu noticed a ring in the ashes of her son glowing.
‘Storage ring?’
Her suspicion was confirmed when the ring spat out a crystal of blood. Threads of red energy seeped into Wuhan’s soul.
Ba-Dump!
From the crystalline Embryo of his soul, a faint heartbeat echoed.
The cracks started to widen when the input of the mysterious energy intensified.
“What is that? Why do I sense such deep traces of worldly Laws from that thing?” Even though she asked those questions, no one answered them for her.
Feng Niu did not stay silent and unleashed an attack charged with her soul energy to disrupt Wuhan’s attempt at forming the Nascent Soul.
But to her shock, the Dark Bullet she had fired was devoured by an illusionary mouth that appeared out of nowhere.
The astounding redhead, those elegant wings that devoured all darkness and gave birth to the light of the head.
The bright mystical eyes of the beast—there was no doubt about it.
It was the Immortal Phoenix Bird head that had taken form.
What Wuhan had been using until now was not a true Phoenix but the trace of bloodline left in his lineage.
He could only use the basic techniques and never channel the full force of the immortal bloodline, which was being suppressed by his diluted human blood.
But not for the first time it was unleashed.
“This is the pure immortal bloodline.”
“The legendary Phoenix!”
Feng Niu whispered as the Avatar of the beast gazed in her direction before raising its proud head. It charged upwards as the rest of its body materialized.
While at the same time, Wuhan’s Embryonic Soul continued growing in size and power.
Before long the phoenix was at the zenith, and his soul seed became the size of a fist.
And then…
Crack!!!
The Embryo shattered as the phoenix took a dive in the air and rushed at it.
The two ends collided, and a brilliant light filled the vast expanse of the island.
Every last bit of darkness that was coming off Feng Niu started to churn. Her clothes were burning away as if something was eating them.
Even as her upper body lay bare before the world, Feng Niu did not flinch and simply waved her hand.
The output of her power increased, and her body was covered once more.
The light finally started to fade, and she finally saw what stood at the center of the commotion.
Woosh!
With orange and yellow hair that touched upon the boundary of the fiery red, his wild hair fluttered in the loose wind.
His robes that bore semblance to his noble bloodline matched the burning rage of the sun in the sky.
Wuhan slowly opened his eyes, revealing a pair of serene, calm eyes looking back at Feng Niu.
There was no hate in them, no anger towards her or anyone else. They were just filled with eternal calmness and nobility.
Wuhan took his eyes off of his mother and looked down. There in the center of his dantian, he saw a mini version of himself. Surrounded by faint traces of red and green, it was sitting cross-legged, immersed in some cultivation.
He raised his head once more and spoke, “I understand now… I will not lose anymore.”
