- Chapter 817 - 817: Laying The Hearts Bare

“You will not lose?” Feng Niu chuckled darkly, “Let’s see how powerful the bloodline of the immortal beast that even the hidden family fears is.”
Boom!
In the blink of an eye, the entire island was enshrouded in darkness. It was like a dome of night had surrounded the land, devouring everything within.
Other than Wuhan, everything turned pitch black. He could not even see the ground or the trees around him.
His eyes darted around, but there was no sign of Feng Niu. She seemed to have been swallowed by the darkness.
[Womb of Darkness]
The voice came from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. At the same time, Wuhan, who could not feel even the air move around him, suddenly felt something crawling in the space around him.
‘Laws of Space, Darkness, and what is this last one?’
Wuhan suddenly tilted his head and dodged an invisible attack without looking at it and said, “This is a new attack.”
“Of course, did you think I wasted the hundred years you had me trapped in that hellhole?”
The distorted voice directly rang in Wuhan’s head.
“I trained every day even though I could not gather my qi. I cultivated the laws I had access to.”
Woosh!
The darkness around Wuhan suddenly pulsed abnormally, turning into tentacles that tried to restrain him, but….
Crack…
Kachincnnk!
Wuhan was faster; he raised his hand and slashed to the side. His hand was covered in the purest flames, which shattered the whole domain like broken glass.
The slash interestedly grew in size the farther it went, and the ground under it was cleaved. Water from the ocean around filled the gap, but his power was enough to reshape the terrain of the island.
“You dodged…” looking over his head, Wuhan’s eyes met with his mother’s.
Feng Niu flew down from the sky. Even after taking his attack head-on, there was not a single scratch on her body.
“Look who is getting cocky.” Feng Niu laughed at his arrogance. “Since you can fight like a man now. Shall we end this warm-up?”
Boom!
An immense amount of qi and pressure exploded from her body. The ground cracked and the air tensed up. The ocean waves around the island started to become restless.
All of a sudden the whole island was in disarray.
Wuhan wore a tense expression on his face, but he did not seem scared.
“Are you finally going to use the power of your heavenly constitution?” He asked, staring the woman in the eyes.
Netherfiend Body
Even though he knew she had this physique, Wuhan had never seen her use it. Even when he had sealed her, he had not even allowed her to get warmed up first.
This was his first time to ever make his mother fight to this extent.
“Even though I have not recovered my powers, I can still activate a hint of my powers.” Feng Niu looked down at her hands while she continued to pour out the qi from her body.
“Now then, shall we continue?”
Thump!
Hmm!!!
Streams of gray energy started appearing around her body. The space itself froze when those strings started to emit a faint Dharmic Rhythm.
Every law and concept has its own presence, which it passively emits.
This Aura, this individuality, was known as the Dharmic Rhythm.
And currently the Dharmic rhythm was not coming from any laws Feng Niu was using, but instead it was coming from her body itself.’
Her presence thickened as the aura around her grew massively. It gathered around to the point she was now a part of something vast.
A massive figure now stood on the twisted lands of the island. The figure had no distinctive face or gender. It had six arms and two heads. In each arm, the colossal being held a single weapon.
‘So, this is her dharma body.’ Wuhan thought to himself. He noticed Feng Niu was now in the middle of this figure, barely visible.
Feeling the heavy presence that had stormed the island, he looked down at his own hands and whispered. “…the current me probably should be able to do it as well.”
Closing his eyes, Wuhan imitated her action. Unlike Feng Niu, who drew upon the power of her bloodline, Wuhan called upon his bloodline, merging it with his understanding of the laws.
Woosh!
Feng Niu did not give him time to think and attacked him on the arm holding the huge Battle Axe. It cleaved through the air and struck the ground, sending dust flying in all directions.
The Island which was only cleaved from one side, was now divided into two halves.
Before the dust could even settle, a massive shadow pierced through it from the inside, soaring into the air.
Chirp~
The faint cry trailed into the sky, leaving a trail of flames burning the air behind it.
Feng Niu raised her head, and her dharma body followed all of her actions; the giant Axe returned to its original position.
Even though it was day, the clouds above the continent were dark and foggy.
But that was before.
Now, they were burning bright. All shades of fire were illuminating the clouds, dispersing the darkness within.
The flames were not eradicating it; they were purifying it.
And through the clear clouds, she could see a shadow of a beast.
It was a creature that stretched over several meters, spanning in all directions.
And if you count the wings as well, it seemed so unfathomable.
Finally, the clouds parted, as if giving way to the otherworldly being who wanted to pass by.
A colossal phoenix emerged from the parted clouds, its form a living inferno that scorched the heavens themselves. Wings unfurled like twin firestorms, spanning dozens of meters, each feather a blade of purest crimson flame that trailed embers capable of melting stone mid-air, their edges flickering with an inner void that devoured light rather than casting it.
Its head was crowned with a mane of writhing fire serpents, each licking the air greedily.
The crimson eyes of the beast locked onto Feng Niu’s dharma body. Even though Wuhan was no longer visible within the beast because of how bright it was, his voice still reached the ends of the place.
“Let’s settle this with one go.”
The former Empress’s lips curled up dangerously when she heard his suggestion. Four arms and five weapons on her dharma body merged with the deathly bow of destruction on her left.
With her right hand she pulled the string back, and an arrow swirling with menacing runes materialized out of thin air. Without even releasing it, the arrow managed to pierce the space around it.
“Our family has always been a really twisted one. While a normal mother pushes their child to grow stronger.” Flapping his wings, Wuhan charged forward slowly. “We have been fighting each other since the dawn of our time together.”
“And here we are…” he said, his voice suddenly growing louder. “Fighting each other with our lives on the line!”
Woosh!
The moment his words ended, his figure shot forward. At the same time, Feng Niu released the arrow from her grasp and muttered something under her breath, which no one could hear.
“Curtain of Last Night.”
From the distance, Noah watched in silence as the world before him was divided in two halves.
The sky had turned into a sea of lava with everything burning yet nothing being destroyed.
And at the end of the rising arrow, darkness dispersed as if a curtain had been attached to it. Yet on the front, everything crumbled in its path.
Even the space itself.
The phoenix turned into a ray of light, finally collided with the incoming arrow, and then everything collapsed.
There was no deafening boom or an earth-shattering explosion.
Only a blinding light remained, consuming even the very fabric of space.
Two elements that oppose each other’s existence collided only to end up devouring one another.
When everything slowly settled, Noah finally moved and flew down to what used to be an island.
But now it was only the aftermath of destruction.
While flying, Noah encountered cracked spaces, which threatened to unleash a space storm within the world.
However, with a single spell, he sealed the cracks. After cleaning all the cracks in space, he moved to the floating parts of earth, the only remains of the island.
The trees were gone, and so were the humongous mountains. There was not even a sign of the beast who used to dwell on the land.
The entire sea was now covered with phoenix flames that were slowly devouring the lingering darkness.
Noah landed on a broken piece of land where two figures were lying facing each other.
One was missing their right side, where dark tendrils were writhing outwards. The other was missing chunks of their body along with the heart. The latter’s body was covered with flames that were slowly dying.
They were none other than Feng Wuhan and Feng Niu, respectively. Noah ignored the severity of their injuries along with the lack of any heart beating and focused deeper within to check if they were alive or…
