- Chapter 819 - 819: Return and Progressing

Late in the evening, Xin Yan was sitting before a table, gracefully writing on a scroll with focused intent. Her gaze was unwavering, and her face showed a still calmness.
Creak…
Just before the door to her room creaked open, her hand paused, and her eyes found themselves looking towards it with anticipation.
Her face blossomed into happiness as if she found something that made her whole.
“Is it done?” She asked softly.
Standing on the boundary of her room, Noah let out a tired smile. Despite how neat and fresh he appeared because of his cultivation, there was a tired look in his eyes.
“They finally settled down.” After a long sigh, Noah stepped into the room. “I was in doubt that Wuhan might fall to an inner demon during the fight.”
“He seems to harbor deep resentment, and his mother is just as clueless as to why he is angry.” Xin Yan stood up and moved to sit on the bed with him. “She thinks that she did a favor for Wuhan.”
Noah had already explained to her everything that had happened between the two of them in the past.
“To be honest… I would have let Wuhan kill her if that was what he truly wanted.”
Hearing this, Xin Yan looked at Noah in surprise. With a heavy smile Noah continued, “I was not sure what had happened between them before, but Wuhan’s resentment was so deep that he was on the brink of losing himself to the darkness and …”
And… I am not ready to lose him.
Even though he did not voice those words out, the woman who loved him beyond reason understood the things he could not even say.
She knew in this world, beside herself and Elysia, his only friend was Wuhan. As much as she hated to admit it, Wuhan had a special place in Noah’s heart, which neither of them could fill.
“So what happens now?” leaning on Noah’s shoulder, she voiced her longing. She looked around the room at several expensive treasures and exquisite items, and yet nothing seemed to be able to draw her gaze.
The only light in the room she could see was the man beside her.
“With our recent actions, war is imminent.” Noah had already told her about everything that had happened in the Eleven empire.
“And the way we are as of now, there will be nothing but endless despair of loss and destruction clouding these lands.”
Noah’s words were not groundless; he knew that despite how powerful he was at that moment, he still could not have come out as the winner if he and the priestess of the cult really fought, giving their all.
“It is time we return to giving time to our own cultivation.”
Xin Yan smiled and waved her right hand. The scroll lying on the table, the one she had been working on, flew into her grasp.
“I have already prepared a training regime for all the members of the sect.” With confidence brimming in her eyes, she continued, “By the time we are done with our cultivation, they should be at least in the soul formation realm, if not the budding soul realm.”
“Haha, I wonder what kind of hell they would be going through this time.”
….
“Acho!!” Inside a dark room, hidden in the walls of the Benevolent Guardian sect, a sharp noise tore through the heavy noise of the dangling chains and whip cracks.
“What is this sudden chill of ecstasy?” A candle flickered to light, and the darkness parted. A voice trembling with pleasure and pain alike brought the dull room to life.
If a sane person saw this room, they might probably scream in panic and run away. All sorts of torture equipment and heavy weights were lined up in the room very neatly.
But these things were not just for anyone. The only one who had the right to use them was the owner of the voice, the half-naked woman who stood in the middle of it all.
Her muscles, carved to perfection, were on full display. Her eyes gleamed with pleasure even though her muscles twitched in pain, blood oozed from her skin, and sweat drenched her body.
“Why do I feel my good days are about to arrive?” Hugging herself, Ma Li let out a maniacal squeal. With the same posture, she threw herself on the ground with her head facing up.
On the roof, there was not a single empty space. The whole thing was covered in paintings of Noah, some clothed and some not so much.
Blood did not just drip from her head but even from her nose. “Are you the source of my upcoming pleasure?”
Ma Li did not realize it then, but in the upcoming days she finally knew how wrong she was and that what she was going to experience was not a pain of pleasure but a pain that made the deepest inch of her soul tremble…
But that is a story for another time.
…
With the dawn of a new day, Noah found himself waking up in the arms of Xin Yan. Taking in the bare beauty before his eyes, he moved the silky strands of her hair from his face and smiled contentedly.
Stepping out of the bed, he drew himself a bath in the heart-soothing Jade bathtub before stepping in.
Splash!
“Now that I have taken care of the infestation of the world tree, Elysia should be recovering soon.” After seeing what the members of the Red Dawn cult had done to the divine tree, he realized that it was the same thing that was harming Elysia.
‘But I wonder if their plan involving the world tree to harm the world itself has been thwarted because of my actions. What will they do now?’
Noah knew better than to waste his time thinking about those useless things. Closing his eyes, he focused on relaxing and letting his soul sense drift down.
The moment his soul sense touched the ground, Noah felt an odd sense of calmness washing over him like a weight had been lifted off of his body. ‘Looks like she is feeling better.’
His sole sense continued to dig deep until it touched the very essence of the world. A cocoon of threads of laws and concepts twisted in a meaningful existence.
From the cocoon he could see several strands of dark energy dispersing in different directions.
Before he could probe more, Noah felt several emotions blooming within his senses. Warmth, care, reassurance, and deep love—he could sense it all.
“Are you telling me to trust you…” a smile appeared on his face before he even realized. “Cannot help but fall in love with you.”
Retracting his senses, Noah stepped out of the bath.
***
Noah was not the only one who had sensed these changes happening to the world.
Although they might not be able to sense the emotions of the world or have their soul senses dive into the core of the plant as Noah managed to achieve, they could still tell something had changed.
Mo Family
Within the depths of the Mo Family, an illusionary silhouette of an old man was seated on a throne made of screaming souls.
His limpid eyes opened slightly ajar as an aged voice echoed throughout the constraints of the closed space. “Hmm… The Spiritual Plane is no longer screaming. Is the plan of her highness failing?”
“Whatever it may be. If need be, this old man is willing to claim a few unholy souls when the time comes.”
…
Heavenly Demon Cult
Unlike the sects, cults were ruled by people who shared the same goals and beliefs.
And the strongest being in the cult ruled above them all.
And he was known as… The Heavenly Demon, Asura.
“This air…” The black-haired devil raised his head to reveal jeweled golden eyes shining on his scarred face. He traced his hand in the air as if he were caressing the wind. “It feels less destructive.”
“The world is finally in a trance.” Even though he spoke casually, the vassals of his cult kneeling below on the ground trembled in fear.
“It seems there is no need to make any move. But who is causing such distress?”
As soon as he closed his eyes, his body turned into a stream of blood, and he vanished without leaving a trace.
Just like them, there were others who sensed these changes.
…
Days passed, and Noah finally returned to the sect with Xin Yan. Only a few members were still within the sect, while the rest had gone on a mission.
After settling in for the day, Noah entered the mysterious Pagoda to practice. For now, gaining any more qi would not help him in any way. Only grasping the laws and concept will allow him to advance in cultivation.
Which was why Noah decided to learn every helpful technique that could potentially be of use.
The name of the first said technique was… Profound Self-Embodiment Technique.
