Getting a Technology System in Modern Day - Chapter 1026: Falling like Dominos

Chapter 1026: Falling like Dominos
Rustle, rustle, rustle, rustle.
Wind could be heard moving across a very large, flat ground, peacefully creating a beautiful scene and sound for anyone who had the chance to witness it.
Unfortunately, the scene didn’t remain like that for long. Within seconds, it slowly started being filled with millions upon millions of soldiers in dress uniforms, all standing at attention, arranged neatly in thousand-by-thousand groups. With each passing second, more and more of them appeared on the ground, covering everywhere visible on the flat plane until it was impossible to see from one end to the other without the horizon entering the equation. It would have been, had it been a real planet and not just a flat plane instance in the simulation.
A total of five hundred million imperial soldiers, the entirety of the imperial military force, were currently in full attendance. Despite that, not a single sound came from them other than the fluttering of their uniforms in the wind and the unison sound of their breathing, which caused a white mist to rise with each breath.
To anyone present to witness the scene, they would know that something monumental was on the verge of happening, and they wouldn’t be wrong. This was the first gathering of such a scale for the imperial government’s fighting force, but unfortunately, it wasn’t made available to the public. Only the imperial soldiers standing among one another and ten additional people were present to witness this event happening live.
The ten additional people were currently standing at the very front, looking toward the soldiers. No matter how far a soldier was from the front, those people and the podium they were on appeared to be right in front of them, as the simulation made it possible.
“We are on the brink of ending all of this and returning to our normal way of life. But to achieve that, we need to topple one final wall which is now ahead of us, fully prepared and waiting only for us to take action,” Aron, the emperor, started speaking the moment he appeared and took the podium without any fanfare, since he wanted to end this as fast as possible.
Although it was not required and was something not done historically, as it was impossible to do in the real world due to its impracticability, he still saw fit to gather all of them for one final rally before the final phase of the largest war humanity had ever had to fight in the history of its existence.
“Although we have yet to suffer any actual casualties, many of you have had to face death more than once on every occasion. No matter how many safety measures we have in place to prevent mental problems, it is inevitable to feel the mental fatigue that comes with all of this. In order to have all of you in your top condition before the final battle, a week-long mental recovery period was given to you. Unfortunately, the week ended quite fast, and now you are back here, having just freshly tasted the allure of vacation. So instead of feeling down, I want you to use that as fuel to ensure we deal with everything as fast and neatly as possible in order to accelerate the next round of vacations, which will be longer…”
As Aron spoke, his speech was a mix of many things: humor, encouragement, and more, making it quite an unfit speech, one that went against the convention of a rallying speech. But instead of demoralizing the soldiers with the realization that they had incompetent leadership, it invigorated them even more, as they knew he could only make such a speech because he had peace of mind and confidence that everything would work out well. This, in turn, gave the soldiers the ease of mind to focus fully on what they were required to do without having to think about anything else.
“Let’s etch our names in history by toppling that final wall, and may God be on our side through it all,” Aron said, finally bringing his long-winded speech to an end.
“FOR THE EMPIRE!” one of the soldiers shouted, his voice forcefully transmitted to all the soldiers present before they all shouted “FOR THE EMPEROR” back in unison, their united voice shaking the ground they were standing on.
This repeated five times before they finally became silent again. They started to dissolve and found themselves back in their positions, with only a minute having passed in real-world time.
…………………..
{Everything is ready in coordination with them, and we are to start on time, as long as you give the go-ahead,} Athena said the moment Aron appeared back in the Central Command room.
“Good, let’s go ahead and end it as fast as possible,” Aron said as his eyes now focused on the thousands of screens in front of them, showing them different POVs of the imperial forces.
The operation was happening in complete secrecy, even from the imperial citizens, who were currently being shown different areas to divert their focus. Only those in the room and the imperial soldiers who were going to be taking part in this operation were aware of it on the empire’s side.
Athena’s avatar nodded silently before issuing the order for the go-ahead. Immediately, every imperial soldier received a briefing of the part they were going to be responsible for. For the operation, the empire had pulled up all of its soldiers, even those who were previously working in administrative positions. Although they were administrative staff, the training they received was the same as every basic imperial soldier underwent, making them capable of everything the other soldiers were. Everything on the administrative side of things was taken over by Athena and her child AIs to ensure the smooth operation of the military while its entire fighting force was now on the verge of the final push.
Now fully ready and briefed, the ships automatically set course as space in front of them tore open a wormhole. They all jumped into them; there was no going back until everything was finished.
