Getting a Technology System in Modern Day - Chapter 1027: Falling like Dominos II

Chapter 1027: Falling like Dominos II
A week before.
“Are you sure you want to go ahead with this? Because this guarantees that we are going to be enemies with them for the foreseeable future,” one of Kasron’s, Zelvora leader’s closest confidants and advisors asked him when he showed him everything that went on during his meeting with the emperor, inside his private mental network.
“That will only be a problem if it fails and we are discovered, but I don’t expect the empire to fail at it. Plus, even if we are discovered, and the news spreads to all of them, and they hate us, that is not going to be our problem, but the empire’s problem, which will need everyone to be on the same side.
What is important is that we reduce our casualties to the minimum while also ensuring a future for our people and keeping ourselves alive to see that future,” Kasron said, doing everything in his power to convince himself that what he did was not just for the selfish reason of his survival, but also to allow a future for their civilization. This was partly true because the empire wouldn’t have hesitated to make all of them incapable of accessing the mental network, effectively killing their one and only advantage.
“But do you trust the empire to keep their side of the agreement if we keep ours? What are we even going to use to make sure that they keep their promise? A mana oath? He is the standing example of someone who has found a way to circumvent it. Embarrassment? There is really not going to be anything to be shamed of when he has just won the previously thought unwinnable war; it might even make him look like a tactical genius, and the shame will be on us.
I don’t see anything powerful enough to force them to keep their side of the deal since the war will have ended and there will be no one else who would be wary of making a deal with them because they broke ours. Being seen as a promise keeper is only important when you need the other side to stop being wary of you, but they won’t even need that, because all the deals from then on will be unilaterally made by them, with everyone else having no option but to follow,” the advisor asked, trying to see if Kasron had a plan or something in mind that would force the empire to keep their side of the deal.
“I trust them to keep their side of the deal, but that is the scariest part of things,” Kasron said.
“Why?” his advisor asked, curious as to where he was going with this.
“If you read their stories, there are many examples of individuals whose entire personalities or actions behave around taking weird interpretations of normal requests or promises. They have those they call devils, genies, and many more, and seeing as how it is part of their entertainment culture, I don’t put it past the emperor to turn us into one as well,” Kasron said with a bitter smile. It was very obvious that this was the only option he could take because the other side had all the cards while he had nothing but hope and the promise of a swift end to the war. It was an option he had to knowingly take, as that was the only way to buy him and his people safety.
“Do you have a way to protect yourself from those interpretations?” his confidant asked, not even worried about himself, but fully worried about Kasron. In his eyes, Kasron had just made the most difficult decision that had sealed his death for the sake of his people, and if that decision was not enough to warrant such reverence, then there was nothing he could do that would warrant it.
“None at the moment, and I had only used it as a means to ensure my life in case my other plan fails,” Kasron said.
“Which is?”
“Running away. The galaxy is large, and the Conclave is only a small part of it, so if I put my full focus into escaping, it is not impossible. With the mana stones we have, we can keep at it for a very long time if we are fully prepared,” Kasron said, finally revealing his main plan to ensure his and his people’s safety.
“I told the empire that it would take us a week to fully prepare for the course of action we are going to be taking, as we need to prepare our internal forces to be ready to deal with all the soldiers and equipment sent by the other civilizations into our territories. This is true, but that time should also be enough to gather everyone who will be on the chopping block of the empire and have everything ready, just as the empire is fully occupied with attacking the other civilizations, to escape. By the time everything ends and they focus on us, we will be long gone with all of our traces completely deleted.”
The plan was very sound, as the amount of chaos that would ensue the moment the empire gives the go-ahead on the attack, everyone would be scrambling to understand and try to deal with the situation.
“I will oversee all of the preparations myself,” his confidant said before leaving the private mental network, while Kasron invited all of those who he was going to be escaping with to brief them fully on the situation, which was very easy for a civilization with a mental network.
And as such, the entire week passed, where everything was being put into its rightful position.
…………………………
Present.
The moment the emperor gave the go-ahead on the plan at the designated time, Athena reached out to Kasron and gave him the go-ahead.
“I hope I’m right about this,” Kasron said, taking a deep breath before consuming a large amount of both his and everyone in the civilization-wide mental network’s power to spread across and ensure all of the Zelvora civilization members in the top ten civilizations other than the Xor’Vak knew what was happening.
He dumped into the network everything, starting from the empire having spread materials among them that, if triggered, could cripple them and make them incapable of using their mental abilities, all the way to the decision they made to prevent that, which was to surrender. In return for surrendering, the empire demanded that they aid in ending the war quickly under the promise of a vaccine that would make such an attack impossible again. He made sure every Zelvora in the mental network understood everything and the reasoning behind it.
Once that was done, he finally issued the go-ahead order. Everything took a matter of just a few seconds, but that alone was enough for every Zelvora to understand the situation and know exactly what they needed to do.
