Getting a Technology System in Modern Day - Chapter 1030: Falling like Dominos V

Chapter 1030: Falling like Dominos V
After an arduous twenty minutes of imperial ships fighting to reach the capital planet, where the controlling AI deployed different tactics to ensure as many ships as possible arrived at the outer spatial shield, out of the more than a million ships sent through the surviving wormholes, nearly half of them were already destroyed. This was while the AI, capable of reacting faster than any human, was controlling them. Had it been humans controlling the ships, nearly a third of them would have been lost in the opening minutes of the fight.
Even with such a large loss of ships, the amount that survived the spatial storms was considered more than expected. As soon as they were close to the vicinity of the spatial shield, they all, in unison, activated their spatial locks, forcefully stabilizing the unruly and unstabilized space. The ships slowly started adjusting themselves and their movements to surround the planet in all directions, bathing it with spatial locks.
The moment the encirclement was completed, they immediately triggered the second level of the spatial lock while pushing them to their maximum operating power. In a near-instant, the spatial shield shattered as if it was a twig. Even the strongest Trinarian fighters were finally made incapable of using any spatially related ability.
Those who were flying fell. Those in the middle of teleporting were ejected. Worst of all, all of them found themselves as if they were in the middle of a non-Newtonian fluid; even the smallest exertion of force was met with a wall-like barrier that prevented them from moving or doing anything.
The strongest among them suffered the worst of it. It didn’t take long before they realized that even the spatial mana inside their bodies and all spatially related mutations they had were currently under the hold of the spatial locks, making them no different than sitting ducks. This caught them completely off guard, as the empire revealed this ability for the first time. Just like that, a fight that had seemed as if it would go on forever came to a complete standstill.
Although the empire had yet to send soldiers, not out of arrogance, but due to the impossibility of opening a wormhole inside a spatially locked area, the Zelvora who were still alive inside the capital planet were left to be the executors of the empire’s will. Being the strongest Zelvora available on the planet, they started moving with extreme efficiency, dealing with all of those who would be a problem. But under the empire’s orders, they didn’t kill them; they just placed them in a mental lock state where their consciousness was decoupled from their actual bodies, putting them in a situation similar to locked-in syndrome, where they could see and feel everything going on outside but were unable to do anything about it.
In a matter of a day, everyone with the power or ability to fight back was put in a mental lock state. Only then did the empire finally cancel the spatial lock for a duration of just ten seconds to open wormholes around the planet, sending imperial soldier avatars to secure it, but also billions of Medpods to place all of the people on the planet inside them. This forcefully logged them into VR as a means of both ensuring everyone was under constant supervision and allowing imperial forces not to worry about rebellions or fights erupting.
This had been the new operating procedure applied in every captured planet of the top ten civilizations due to the amount of power their people had, making even their normal citizens capable of causing large amounts of damage compared to the normal citizens of lower-level civilizations. It also solved the difficult logistical problem of feeding all of these people. By having all of them inside the Medpods, the only thing they needed to provide was a universal nutrition solution, as the Medpod would handle the individualization of the nutrient solutions to fit each specific civilization, a solution they had come up with after having to feed the rest of the surrendering civilizations who had yet to undergo the same process.
Just as its name implied, the Medpod was also used to treat all injured individuals, no matter the severity of their injury, making sure everyone alive was in tip-top condition.
This was also going to be the only way the empire would address the post-war situation while ensuring everyone was on the same page by the time they were all released.
And just like that, a planet of one of the strongest civilizations in the Conclave, who were feared by all, fell.
……………………….
John was silently reading the constantly updating war logs, which were being updated with everything that was happening in the war: the victories, the problems they faced, the solutions they came up with that were spread to all battlefields, and many more, all color-coded differently. The green color symbolized the complete capture of star systems, and every five minutes, a green-colored line could be seen on the war log. Although the color red was used to indicate the failure to capture a star system, none of it had yet to be seen on the war log. With the entire pre-preparation using the latest information they received from the Zelvora, information gathered during the most cooperative and united time since their existence, it was too good for the empire not to make full preparations.
“How long do you think before all of them fall?” he turned to Athena and asked. At the moment, she was the most knowledgeable individual about the war. Unlike humans who would take time to read everything, she was the one receiving and understanding everything the moment it arrived, and making decisions based on the new information or the situation met on the field.
“A week should be enough to have everything settled,” Athena said with full confidence.
What she didn’t say was that the entire week was not going to be spent fighting to capture planets; most of the time was going to be spent on the post-capture process of placing everyone inside the Medpods.
Instead of asking for clarification or anything more, John just covered his face with his hands. Moments later, his shoulders started shaking slowly, making those who didn’t know him wonder if he was laughing or crying because no voice came from him at all. But to those in the room, they all knew that he was feeling nothing but euphoria.
