Getting a Technology System in Modern Day - Chapter 1032: Prelude

Chapter 1032: Prelude
Just as predicted, a week was all it took for the remaining Conclave civilizations, minus the Xor’Vak, to fall. It was a period of time that would not even be considered a second if their history of existence was condensed into a year. But within that timeframe, their famed might, glory, control, and everything was lost, as all the remaining people of their civilizations were now fully inside Medpods, kept in stasis.
During that time, the noise around the top civilizations’ feeds not being shown had also grown to an amount that the empire had deemed was enough to finally warrant their need to address the situation.
“I think we should postpone addressing it until we have everyone inside the Medpods,” Youssef, the Minister of the Exterior, suggested. He didn’t look like someone whose department was about to become irrelevant at all, as he knew that they were not yet in a situation for that to happen. Even if they were, the empire would most likely just appoint him to another position, which, with the upcoming mess they needed to sort, there were going to be many of.
“I agree that would be the optimum and the most impactful way to address it, but don’t you think that it will become too big of a situation by then and might risk having a few alternative theories of how we might be rendering a fake story in order to hide the actual truth?” Jeremy, the Minister of the Interior, asked. He knew the public the most, as the departments under him were the ones who dealt with them most of the time.
“But won’t the impact be lackluster if we give them enough time to digest it before the great gathering?” Youssef asked back. The two of them had great respect for one another, and both of them knew that, leading them not to be worried about voicing their disagreements.
“The winning of the war itself is large enough news that it won’t run out of steam even if we took more than a month to have everyone into the Medpods. So I don’t believe we need to delay it until then. We’d better tell them about it now so that they have enough time to digest it until we have everything ready and have the great gathering. It also helps us avoid the conspiracies and fear that might arise if we remained silent for a long duration about this matter,” Jeremy held on to his points, emphasizing preventing any possibilities of conspiracies from humans, but also increasing the fear felt by the conquered civilizations’ citizens, who were already on the edge.
The back and forth continued for a short while, with both sides giving quite reasonable points before they finally turned to the emperor to see what his decision was going to be, only to find him focused on something else entirely with a smile on his face.
They saw him looking at a screen, and before they could even ask what he was looking at, Nova showed them by creating two screens, one in front of each of them.
[TRAPPIST-1 Absolute Coordinates mapping fleet expected to arrive in two weeks] was what was written on the screen the emperor was reading.
TRAPPIST-1 was where the Fountain of Life had been discovered. The moment the exploration fleet returned, a mapping ship with an updated communication system was sent to collect the absolute coordinates of the system to allow for the empire to be able to open a wormhole to both gain access to the star system that was filled with nothing but FOL but also to allow for the half of the fleet that was left behind to act as guards until a more and better-prepared fleet was sent, to allow for them to finally be able to return and reunite with their families and be relieved of their duty.
“Let’s get ready to tell them the news of our win today and tell them about the great gathering. Have them fully prepare for it ahead of time to ensure maximum human participation since they can’t be forced,” Aron, who the two of them thought wasn’t listening, said without lifting his eyes from the screen.
The two ministry heads nodded, accepting the final decision, but their minds were still wondering why the emperor was looking at this certain piece of information.
“It is a solution to a potential future instability problem,” Aron said while tapping the table with his fingers, making a rhythmic sound as if he was messing with a piano with one hand.
“Nova, just show them,” when he saw the look on the ministers’ faces, he said that, as he was too focused on thinking about something to be bothered to do the explanation himself when he had someone who was already in his mind and could read every thought of his, making her the perfect individual to do the explanation as she could supplement his thoughts with the information she had access to, perfecting the idea that was on his mind into an actual plan ready for implementation if approved.
{Yes,} Nova accepted the order, and she started following it.
…………………
Meanwhile, somewhere on Earth, Leopold jumped from his bed stark naked and shouted, “I WAS RIGHTTTTTT!” loud enough to wake up Sophie, who was silently sleeping beside him. During the week, their relationship had somehow gained a rocket booster. In a matter of a few days, they went from close friends to lovers who moved in together.
“What is it?” Sophie asked, looking like a frightened kitten who was startled by the noise.
“Look at the announcement from the imperial government,” Leopold said, showing her what he was talking about.
[WAR UPDATE: At 20:00 Imperial time, the emperor will be addressing the matter that has been causing many people to have questions regarding the development of the war and what is happening in the theater of war with our remaining opponents.]
“See? I told you that there was something weird, or else why bother even giving an explanation?” Leopold said, his voice filled with relief as he was finally vindicated.
“That is only dependent on what the emperor or his spokesperson is going to say,” Sophie said, pausing for a moment before she asked, “So are we postponing joining our patrol task until after the press conference?”
“Yes, from the look of it, using time compression to their advantage, they will only take a few minutes of our time, so there is really no harm in going. And even if it wasn’t, I would have gone anyway,” Leopold said as he sat down, finally having the opportunity to calm down from his excitement.
