Chapter 969: Conclave’s Assured Victory

The system lines stopped the moment he triggered the knot in his soul, as if it were now trying to adapt to Aron’s actions.
With it also came a moment of silence and reprieve from the pain, but despite that, he didn’t feel relief as he was yet to know if it was a temporary fix or not. Soon, his body answered for him.
“Mhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” he groaned, trying to hold the shout in, knowing that the moment he shouted, his mental defenses against the pain would once again give up. Instead, he decided to sit down in a meditation position, interlocking his fingers while touching his thumbs together and closing his eyes, trying to pinpoint what was happening. Although the pain had returned and was worse than the first hit, this one felt like a mixture, with a part coming from his soul that constantly poisoned his mana, while the additional pain was coming from a different source.
As he once again started dumping all of the newly poisoned mana, since it would cause him harm to keep it in his body, this time, he was using the pushed-out mana as sensors to bring him information on their way out about what was happening inside his body.
Had it not been for the pain he was experiencing, his surprise would have been audible, as the atomic-scale runes in his runic heart were currently activating. This was the first time it was happening while he was conscious, since all the other times it had happened were either when he was sleeping, like the first time, or in an induced coma through the Nova or the system itself.
Now, with something to focus on fully, far from the pain, it slowly but not completely moved to the back of his mind as he focused and tried to understand what the runes were doing, as he could learn a lot by experiencing them actively while conscious.

BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone fell, followed by, “Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
BANG!! The door was kicked in seconds after the scream was heard as a group of armed Gorga civilization security entered the room with their weapons in hand. As some of them scanned the room, two moved to the fallen individual.
“Sir, is everything fine?” one of the security detail asked as he placed his hand on the shoulder of the man on the ground, whose scream was getting weaker and weaker as his shaking increased.
“BRING THE MANA SHAMAN!” the man shouted to the soldiers who were still clearing the room to see if there was someone or something that had caused the man’s scream.
Upon hearing the order, two of them left the room as the man who shouted the order held a hand to his mouth before he said, “Situation red. The representative is experiencing unknown symptoms and is unresponsive. No known cause yet. We are sending him to the mana shaman for treatment.” He then carried the representative on his shoulder, seeing that the situation was getting worse. Rushing in the direction of the shaman would shorten the time it would take for the representative to receive a diagnosis, if not treatment. He sweated, knowing he was in for a bad day if the situation couldn’t be dealt with.

CONCLAVE CENTRAL COMMAND
With the Conclave at war with an empire they already guessed had wormhole-opening capabilities, as a result, all important planets were currently on high alert. So, the news of a government representative who had participated in the negotiations and signings of the first agreement following the first war with the empire collapsing immediately reached the Conclave Central Command. They were, at that moment, receiving the same news from different civilizations. It started with one, then one more, up to ten, then twenty, and before long, each civilization had one of its representatives experiencing an unexplainable situation.
However, no one in the central command was surprised by the news, as it was something they had taken into consideration. Since they, too, were exploiting the mana contract, the empire itself should be able to exploit the runic contracts in return.
“Thank mana we used representatives to sign in our stead,” a civilization leader said as he watched a live video of what was happening to his representative, who had signed the contract with the empire. The video showed him slowly withering as if the liquid in his body was being drained, something that their medical specialists were currently only pushing back with mana, a new luxury they could now afford due to their large stockpiles in preparation for the war with the empire.
“The same should be happening to them, but even worse, as their emperor was dumb enough to have signed it on his own,” another civilization leader said with a chuckle before adding, “I wonder how they are reacting to this situation happening with their emperor in such a chaotic period.”
Everyone in the room nodded. It was a strategic gamble they had made. Should it happen, it would make their war easier than expected. If it didn’t, they would still continue fighting with the confidence to win.
But surprisingly, it had actually hit, as the empire responded aggressively, attacking a thousand of their planets directly, instantly triggering the judgment of the mana oath the emperor signed. They were sure, with high confidence, that the emperor was currently experiencing the punishment from the mana oath, which should in turn put the empire in turmoil from the loss of their leader, who, other than being the emperor, was also the anchor and the strongest person the empire had, all while being minutes away from the first direct fleet-to-fleet face-off.
The nodding only lasted for a moment as they focused back on the screen that showed their fleet being minutes away from the face-off with the rapid-response imperial fleet that had moved to intercept their approaching fleet.
All of their preparations and gambles were going to start taking effect now, as actual metal was going to face metal, where only kinetic energy would decide the winner. After all, wormholes can’t be used by both sides within the Solar System and the Oort cloud, which were all covered with spatial locks upon spatial locks to render any spatial ability useless, limiting how the war could be fought.
It was a situation that leaned in their favor more than the empire’s, since they could keep bringing reinforcements using wormholes through the areas where there were no spatial locks, while the empire’s reinforcements would be limited to what it had within the solar system, which could be moved from one place to another only through conventional movements. This too was to the benefit of the Conclave, since they would know every movement of the imperial forces within the solar system and could act and adjust their actions upon it.
Although some things had happened beyond their expectations, it did little to change the current expected outcome, as everything pointed to their assured victory. Everyone in the room looked forward to and worked hard to make it come true, as the spoils of war made it worth the cost it would take to fund this war.
