- Chapter 619 - 619: Dragon's Aura at a Critical Moment

The Desert Goblin Queen writhed her enormous body, sending violent tremors rippling through the entire underground cavern.
Under such conditions, Charles and Connell couldn’t even keep their footing.
They were forced to constantly move, dodging left and right in an attempt to avoid being directly struck by the Queen’s colossal attacks.
As he evaded the monstrous blows, Charles kept looking for an opening to strike back.
The Black Gold Long Knife and Chasing the Moon Bow flashed in his hands, switching back and forth with practiced ease.
Mousie stayed hidden within his shadow, helping block the incoming strikes from the surrounding regular Goblins, while also using the shadows to allow Charles to stay out of the Queen’s direct line of sight.
Rainbow soared in circles above Charles’s head, its radiant wings trailing multicolored light.
One beam after another spiraled around Charles’s body, forming a glowing shield.
Thanks to this, he remained unaffected by the stench released by the Desert Goblins, as well as the psychic pheromones emanating from the Queen—an attack meant to break their willpower on a mental level.
Max and Mia continued to unleash their respective abilities, perfectly coordinated with Charles’s strikes.
Because of the seamless synergy between Charles and his mystical beasts, they managed to threaten the Desert Goblin Queen early in the battle.
That only infuriated her further.
With a roar of rage, she suddenly leapt into the air—her massive body slamming down onto the ground with earth-shattering force.
The ground cracked open beneath them.
The Desert Goblin Queen, along with Charles, Connell, and a horde of Desert Goblins, plummeted into an even deeper subterranean layer.
But Charles had already anticipated something like this the moment the Queen launched herself into the air.
He prepared himself at once.
The instant they crashed into the lower depths, Charles stabilized his footing and immediately began surveying the area.
To his astonishment, he discovered that this level contained numerous underground rivers.
Not far ahead, all the rivers converged, merging into a massive underground lake.
The waters of this dark lake pulsed with cursed energy.
It was eerily similar to the cursed lake Charles had seen beneath Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis.
“What is this place…? Could there really be an ancient curse hidden beneath the Desert Goblin nest too?”
Charles murmured to himself, deeply puzzled.
Given that Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis had once been the ancient capital of the Serpent Empire, it made sense that remnants of ancient curses might remain there.
In fact, based on the historical records of the Serpent Empire’s rise, the first Emperor of the Serpent People had wielded a power strikingly similar to that of a curse.
So, to Charles, it was perfectly plausible that the first Serpent Emperor had left behind traces of his curse beneath Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis.
But that same logic didn’t apply to the Desert Goblins. Not at all.
Though the Desert Goblins constantly emitted their foul stench, that odor posed no threat to them whatsoever. In fact, it was one of their natural defense mechanisms.
Which meant—the cursed energy here had nothing to do with the Desert Goblins.
A storm of questions swirled through Charles’s mind.
But he couldn’t find the answers quickly enough.
And now wasn’t the time to ponder such mysteries.
As Charles was still deep in thought, the Desert Goblin Queen launched into action once more.
Like a creature gone mad, she charged at Charles with terrifying momentum.
Though her massive size limited her movement speed, the cavern itself was not spacious to begin with. Charles had very little room to maneuver.
“I need to find a way out—fast! If this fight drags on any longer, my situation will only grow worse,”
he concluded sharply.
But finding a viable exit was no easy task.
And the Desert Goblin Queen was already close enough to strike.
Raising her bloated, grotesque hand high above her head, the Queen brought it crashing down toward Charles.
Charles barely managed to dodge the devastating blow, but in doing so, he found himself dangerously close to the cursed underground lake.
The sinister energy rising from the lake coiled through the air like mist.
At that moment, Mousie, hidden within the shadows, sprang into action.
As a dark-element mystical beast, it was capable—at least to some extent—of absorbing cursed energy without suffering harm.
Of course, even Mousie had its limits. It couldn’t absorb too much of it.
Meanwhile, Max and Mia had been casting their abilities continuously since the battle began.
Both of them were now in extremely poor condition.
Despite the immense pressure, Charles remained calm and focused.
He seized the brief moment when the Desert Goblin Queen was adjusting her posture and swiftly spotted a narrow tunnel on the far side.
“I don’t care where that tunnel leads—anything is better than staying here. If I remain, I’ll die for sure!
The Desert Goblin Queen is simply too powerful!”
He made his decision immediately.
Though she had yet to use any special skills, the Queen’s overwhelming physical strength and sheer bulk alone had made it abundantly clear—this was not a battle he could win.
Without hesitation, Charles pulled out his Chasing the Moon Bow and unleashed every remaining arrow in his quiver, sending them all hurtling toward the Queen.
The barrage was enough to disrupt her movement for a split second.
And that was all Charles needed.
He bolted toward the tunnel.
Not far away, Connell had also sprung into motion.
The two of them reached the tunnel entrance in a matter of seconds.
“Will this tunnel really take us out of the Desert Goblin nest?”
Connell asked breathlessly.
Charles didn’t give a direct answer.
“Just keep running! We don’t have time to talk right now!”
With that, the two of them plunged into the tunnel.
It was a long, narrow passage, winding deeper and deeper underground.
It took them an entire hour just to reach the other end.
But the moment they burst out of the tunnel, despair overtook their faces.
In front of them wasn’t an exit—but another enormous Desert Goblin nest.
Countless Desert Goblins sprawled throughout the cavern, packed so densely it was hard to see the ground. Their shrill, chattering voices filled the air, creating a chaotic chorus of noise.
Moments later, the first Desert Goblin looked up and spotted Charles and Connell.
Then, almost simultaneously, every Desert Goblin in the nest turned their eyes toward the two intruders.
“What do we do now? Are we seriously going to charge through all of them?”
Connell asked, trembling with fear.
Charles said nothing. His expression had gone grim.
This time, the despair in his heart was real.
Just then, Rainbow suddenly soared into the air, flying toward the top of the Desert Goblin nest.
Seeing this, Charles immediately shouted,
“Get back here! Don’t act on impulse! Even if you’re a divine-level mystical beast, there’s no way you can take on this many Desert Goblins alone!”
Charles had no intention of letting Rainbow sacrifice itself.
Even if he had given up hope, he would never allow harm to come to one of his mystical beasts.
But Rainbow didn’t turn back.
It flew higher and higher, reaching the very peak of the nest.
All the Desert Goblins turned their attention upward, baring their teeth and unleashing waves of hostile screeches.
Rainbow hovered in the sky for a moment—and then, its entire body was engulfed in radiant, multicolored light.
A majestic, rainbow-hued dragon suddenly took shape in midair.
The instant Charles and Connell saw the dragon, an overwhelming sense of awe—and a primal urge to kneel—rose within them.
The Desert Goblins were hit even harder.
They all dropped to their knees, clutching their heads in fear, as though trying to shield themselves from an unstoppable force—an enemy they had no chance of defeating.
Charles quickly understood what was happening.
“That’s the effect of Dragon’s Aura!”
Rainbow had unleashed its Dragon’s Aura to suppress the horde of Desert Goblins.
Seizing the moment, Charles turned to Connell and said,
“Don’t waste this chance! It’s our best shot at getting out of here!”
He grabbed Liam by the arm and dashed forward, weaving through the stunned masses of Desert Goblins at full speed.
When they reached the center of the nest, a violent tremor suddenly shook the ground behind them.
The Desert Goblin Queen had caught up.
“Don’t lose focus!”
Charles shouted, snapping Connell out of his panic.
As they fled, neither of them could afford to be distracted.
The moment they lost focus, their speed would drop, and they would be easy targets for the Desert Goblin Queen to catch up to.
Rainbow’s Dragon’s Aura was unlikely to have any effect on the Desert Goblin Queen.
In those critical moments, both Charles and Connell stayed entirely focused.
As they ran through the Desert Goblin nest, the Desert Goblin Queen had just entered from the other side.
Rainbow had completed its task.
The dragon shape vanished, and it flew back toward Charles as quickly as possible.
“Well done!” Charles praised as he burst out of the Desert Goblin nest and returned to the surface.
“If it weren’t for you, we’d never have made it out of that nest!”
Rainbow circled happily above Charles’s head.
Receiving praise from Charles was the greatest joy for it.
Connell, standing to the side, watched with a complicated expression as Charles communicated with his mystical beast.
The mystical beasts he owned were nothing like Charles’s in quality.
Both of his mystical beasts were only at the Jade level, and neither had much intelligence.
They could only understand his simple commands. During battle, they usually acted on instinct and couldn’t execute more complex instructions.
After a brief rest and a moment to recover, Charles quickly scanned the surroundings.
“We’ve passed the transparent barrier. Next, we need to disguise ourselves as Serpents and infiltrate the Serpent camp. Get ready—things are about to get more dangerous.”
Charles turned to Connell, his tone serious.
Connell quickly responded, “I’m ready! We can move forward at any time!”
