- Chapter 693 693: The Evil God's Temptation

As Everett stood there in despair, lost in thought, a faint whisper suddenly echoed in his mind.
The whisper didn’t come through his ears, but directly into his brain. This meant it was coming from an unusually powerful source.
“Obey me, and you will survive.”
The fragmented whispers quickly formed a clear sentence, repeating over and over.
Everett felt the veins in his forehead tighten, waves of dizziness crashing over him.
He didn’t know how much time passed, but when the dizziness finally faded, he realized his wounds had completely disappeared.
His injuries had been fully healed.
At the same time, the power within him had grown even stronger than before.
“Is this the gift of divine power?” Everett muttered to himself.
His inner resolve began to waver.
If defeating the evil god was impossible, but following it meant survival, then what reason was there not to ally with the evil god?
After all, he wasn’t exactly a paragon of virtue.
“Kill Charles, and you will receive a great reward.”
The evil god’s voice sent another clear command.
Everett’s gaze hardened.
He had always hated Charles. Killing him had been his goal from the start.
Now, he finally had an excuse, a reason to follow the evil god without hesitation.
Almost simultaneously, everyone in the Atacama Desert heard the evil god’s whispers.
The evil god commanded everyone to obey.
The regular soldiers of the Stellar Empire in Gold Fortress hesitated for no more than a moment before yielding to the evil god’s temptation, as they saw no other way forward.
Some members of the Ancient Academy followed the evil god’s whispers, while others refused.
The ones who refused were quickly attacked.
Within Gold Fortress, there was only one person who hadn’t yet made a decision: Harbor, the strongest individual in the fortress.
He had control over the three artifacts left in the central tower of Gold Fortress.
He had believed that with these three artifacts, he would have enough power to not need to answer to Everett or anyone else.
But when the evil god’s voice reached him, he immediately realized how insignificant his power was compared to the evil god’s.
After a period of inner struggle, he too ultimately chose to ally with the evil god.
Everyone who had allied with the evil god received one command: kill Charles.
In Serpent’s Eye Lake Oasis, the Serpents also heard the evil god’s whispers.
However, because Kent the High Priest, General Sost, and the others had taken action ahead of time, the Serpents were not swayed by the evil god’s whispers. Still, the whispers pushed all of them to the brink of madness.
When Charles brought Isolde into the grand pyramid, Kent the High Priest, General Sost, and Zara quickly gathered around.
“The situation is already critical. Everyone has heard the evil god’s whispers. Although we can barely control the situation for now, it won’t be long before some Serpents start following the evil god,” Kent the High Priest quickly explained everything that had happened.
After hearing this, Charles’s expression remained unchanged.
He had already expected such a situation to occur.
He calmly addressed Kent the High Priest.
“I hope you can wake him up quickly. Only when he’s awake can we discuss our next move. The evil god has already destroyed the other regions of the Ethereal Grove. Only he knows how to defeat the evil god. If he can’t wake up, then you all might as well join the evil god, because that’s the only way for you to survive.”
Charles spoke in a very calm tone.
He had always been someone who could accept reality.
Isolde was the only one who knew how to use Charles’s unique identity to defeat the evil god.
If Isolde couldn’t wake up, the entire plan couldn’t move forward. For those who had fought alongside him, there was no way to survive other than to ally with the evil god.
When Charles finished speaking, Zara immediately disagreed.
“I will never ally with the evil god. If it comes to that, I’ll fight you! No matter what, I will stand by you!”
Zara’s words deeply moved Charles.
But beyond being moved, there wasn’t much else it could do.
Kent the High Priest and General Sost didn’t respond immediately, as they had more to consider.
After a moment, General Sost spoke calmly.
“The overall situation is still very dangerous. I will try my best to maintain control. But you’d better figure out a way to deal with the evil god quickly. Otherwise, I can’t guarantee what will happen next.”
With that, he turned and walked away.
General Sost had always acted this way.
He worked with Charles only because Charles could help Serpent.
While allying with the evil god seemed like a terrible choice to him, if Charles couldn’t come up with any other solution, he wouldn’t oppose it.
His goal was to ensure Serpent’s survival.
Kent the High Priest sighed.
He pulled a piece of parchment from his robe.
The moment he took the parchment out, Isolde’s fingers twitched.
Kent the High Priest smiled wryly.
“Looks like your friend has been faking unconsciousness. He just wanted to get his hands on this parchment.”
He looked over at Isolde.
“If your goal was to get the parchment, you’ve succeeded. No need to keep pretending. Wake up, quickly, we don’t have much time left.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Isolde immediately woke up.
Charles stared at Isolde, shocked.
“Why did you do that? Even if you didn’t trust him, we could have teamed up to take the parchment from him.”
He asked, somewhat incredulous.
Isolde didn’t answer him. Instead, Kent the High Priest spoke up.
“This parchment contains information recorded by the first emperor of the Serpent Empire when he explored the underground areas. The information was revealed by the dark forces within those depths.
The first emperor of Serpent Empire used his own blood to write this down on the parchment. It’s been passed down through generations of the high priests of Serpent Empire.
Legend says that the information on this parchment could save the world someday. And in order for the information to be released, it must be given by the high priest himself.”
Isolde nodded in confirmation of Kent the High Priest’s explanation.
“Exactly. That’s why I had to pretend to be unconscious. If we came off too forceful or tried to take the parchment by force, it would be useless to us.”
Now that everything was clear, the next step was to prepare for the final battle.
Charles insisted that Isolde explain the plan.
“Now that he’s handed over the parchment, it means he’s our ally. The evil god’s power will soon spread into the Atacama Desert. It’s time for you to tell us the detailed plan.”
Under Charles’s strong insistence, Isolde finally shared his plan.
His plan wasn’t as complicated as it seemed.
The Atacama Desert hadn’t been destroyed by the evil god because, deep underground, there was an ancient seal designed to restrict the evil god’s power.
This seal needed the immense power of hope to activate.
And the only person capable of providing that hope was Charles.
To activate the seal, the information required was the parchment provided by Kent the High Priest.
What Isolde needed to do was ensure that the entire ritual to activate the seal was carried out without interference.
Although the plan sounded simple when explained, the reality of executing it was far more complicated.
First, to activate the ancient seal that restricted the evil god, they would need to go deep into the underground region. There, the cursed power would be so overwhelming it would be nearly unbearable.
Second, in order for Charles to provide the power of hope, he would need to elevate his own position, meaning he would have to merge with the mystical beasts he controlled.
Among those mystical beasts, there were god-level ones.
Each mystical beast had different attributes.
Once Charles merged with all of them, the conflicting powers of these different mystical beasts would clash. If he couldn’t maintain his self-awareness through sheer willpower, his soul would be torn apart.
Finally, the most critical difficulty was that the ritual couldn’t be interrupted.
Now, many people in the Atacama Desert had already allied with the evil god.
These individuals would undoubtedly try to disrupt the ritual.
And the evil god itself would throw powerful forces into the mix.
With so many potential obstacles, completing the ritual successfully would be incredibly difficult. Every single person involved would have to perform flawlessly.
When Isolde finished explaining his plan, everyone in the grand pyramid fell silent. The difficulty of the plan was clear, and it sounded almost impossible.
Zara, looking slightly dazed, spoke up.
“Is this plan really possible? We’ll be facing the full power of the evil god! The evil god’s power is strong enough to destroy the Abyssal Great Wall. Can we really be stronger than the Abyssal Great Wall and the high-level Beast Masters who fought on it?”
