Chapter 733: Chapter 354 The Power of Belief! (Two in One) _2
The large bronze door was crafted with intricate, mysterious runes, glinting with golden and silver light.
On either side of the door were two towering stone statues, standing guard at the entrance of the shrine. Their expressions were solemn, holding sharp swords, seemingly incarnations of guardians.
Chen Mo peered into the interior of the shrine using the Eye of Origin.
Beyond the bronze door lay the interior of the shrine.
The hall was spacious and lofty, paved entirely with snow-white marble. The floor reflected a soft glow, and the ceiling displayed a magnificent fresco depicting stars and cosmic patterns, making one feel as if they were in the Endless Starry Sky.
In the center of the hall stood a colossal divine statue, a hundred feet tall. The statue depicted a majestic and dignified deity with a benevolent yet solemn face and deep, wise eyes. Dressed in magnificent robes, the statue held a Magic Wand and a Holy Sword, exhibiting supreme majesty and power. Behind the statue hung a brilliant, radiant Holy Light Curtain, seemingly connected to the Universe.
The perimeter of the hall was lined with tall stone pillars, embedded with precious gemstones that emanated a sparkling light. The pillars were etched with sacred enchantments and mythological legends, showcasing the supreme glory of the shrine.
Within the shrine, there was also a mysterious altar covered with flowers and spices, emitting an intoxicating fragrance. In the center of the altar was a gemstone, shining brightly, as if brimming with endless Divine Power.
The entire shrine exuded a sacred and solemn atmosphere that commanded respect. It seemed as if this place was a conduit linking Heaven and Earth.
Feeling the surge of Divine Power within, Chen Mo slowly landed in front of the shrine.
There were quite a few individuals present in this shrine.
As Chen Mo landed, a figure with pure, jade-like white skin, seemingly unclothed, walked towards him. Although appearing unclothed, no discernible sexual organs were visible; its body was perfectly smooth and taut, as if clad in a skintight suit. If it stood still, one might mistake it for a white jade sculpture.
“Destined One, welcome. My name is Guldan.”
“Guldan? I am Chen Mo. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Feeling a sense of familiarity with the name, Chen Mo promptly asked, “May I ask which shrine this is?”
“This is the Temple of the Lord of Myriad Worlds. Are you here to pledge allegiance to the Lord of Myriad Worlds?”
“What does pledging allegiance to the Lord of Myriad Worlds mean?”
“If you choose to dedicate your faith to the Supreme One, you will have the chance to receive His blessings and attain great power.”
“So, Guldan, what’s the price?”
“The price? Once you pledge allegiance to the Lord of Myriad Worlds, you will no longer be able to worship other gods. Otherwise, you will be regarded as a blasphemer and suffer punishment from the Lord of Myriad Worlds.”
“Is that all?”
“Of course, there’s more. Every time you gain Divine Power, one-tenth of it must be given to the Lord of Myriad Worlds as tribute.”
“One-tenth? That’s a lot. So, are the rewards for dedicating oneself to the Lord of Myriad Worlds substantial?”
“They are beyond your imagination. Especially when you are weak, dedicating your faith to the great Supreme One can grant you various powerful abilities. Of course, this is predicated on you holding sufficient reverence and offering enough tribute to the Supreme One.”
“If the Supreme One is so powerful, does He still care about our small tributes?”
“A single person’s contribution might seem insignificant, but when many believers offer tribute, it accumulates like sand forming a tower. Moreover, the Supreme One doesn’t just accept tributes of Divine Power but also treasures of various kinds. To receive more of the Supreme One’s favor, you must pay a sufficient price.”
“If I pledge allegiance to this Lord of Myriad Worlds now, what benefits will I receive immediately?”
“Upon pledging allegiance to the Supreme One, you will obtain a basic Divine Skill: the ability to teleport freely, unhindered by spatial obstructions.”
Isn’t this similar to my Divine Flicker? Just by dedicating myself to this Supreme One, I can directly gain such a powerful Teleport ability?
Chen Mo found these so-called Supreme Ones rather incredible.
At the same time, he couldn’t help but wonder if he could absorb his own followers’ faith if he became one of these so-called Supreme Ones.
However, given the somewhat overlapping abilities and the considerable price for pledging allegiance, Chen Mo had no intention of doing so for this so-called Supreme One.
He declined, saying, “The power of the Lord of Myriad Worlds is indeed great, but I currently have no such plans. I came here this time mainly to inquire about the whereabouts of certain items.”
“That’s fine. If you ever become interested, you are always welcome to return. What is it you wish to inquire about? Please, speak freely.”
The white jade-like figure named Guldan smiled as he spoke to Chen Mo.
“I’m about to advance to the God Realm and need some related items to assist me. I was wondering if you know how to obtain items such as ’divine character’, ’Divine Concentration Liquid’, and ’Divine Transformation Holy Fruit’?”
“Oh, so you’re looking for those items. Our shrine has some Divine Concentration Liquid in storage; it wouldn’t be an issue to give you some.”
Chen Mo was somewhat surprised by his generosity.
But the figure quickly changed his tune, saying, “However, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world, a principle I’m sure you understand. If you wish to take our shrine’s Divine Concentration Liquid, you’ll need to do something for our shrine in return.”
“Of course. Please tell me what you need help with.”
The village chief had already mentioned this to Chen Mo earlier, so he wasn’t surprised.
“Our shrine actually needs help with many things, and I have numerous tasks at hand,” Guldan said, handing Chen Mo a round, white jade object. “Take a look at these tasks. Choose whichever one you feel most capable of handling.”
With the aid of his Moluo’s Brain, Chen Mo understood this object was called a jade slip. It was a common medium for storing information in the Divine Realm. It was similar to what mortals called a USB flash drive. However, unlike a USB drive that requires a host device for reading, this jade slip could be used anytime, anywhere. Anyone with Divine Power could use it, able to write and read content from the jade slip at any time. Each jade slip could store an extensive amount of information, but to avoid confusion, typically only related matters were stored in a single one.
The jade slip in Chen Mo’s hands now detailed tasks that the shrine personnel were currently meant to carry out.
Chen Mo had originally thought the shrine’s staff led a leisurely life, but it turned out they were indeed very busy.
There were tasks for planting various divine trees, which required specific Divine Water, divine soil, and fertilizer for irrigation. There were construction projects requiring the development of new areas, which in turn needed certain divine materials and individuals with the relevant construction expertise. Tasks related to the shrine’s needs were overwhelmingly numerous. The shrine staff themselves were incredibly busy. Thus, they were desperate for any help from destined people.
Additionally, some local believers encountered troubles and sought the shrine’s assistance, requiring the shrine to dispatch personnel to resolve their issues.
After scanning through a multitude of tasks, Chen Mo decided that helping the local believers resolve their troubles seemed simpler. The other tasks involved finding too many items. In contrast, trouble-solving tasks, such as the simplest one—destroying a terrifying Monster Nest discovered near a village—could be completed merely by locating the nest and eliminating the monsters.
In Chen Mo’s opinion, such tasks were extremely simple. After all, monsters in the first region of the World of Heavenly Element didn’t possess high Divine Power levels; he estimated the strongest would only have around a thousand points of Divine Power. Although he had consumed 100 points of basic Divine Power when initially refining his Divine Domain, he still had a full 900 points of basic Divine Power remaining. With his various boosts, he possessed a total of 2,700 points of Divine Power. Dealing with them should be very easy, right?
After reviewing all the tasks, Chen Mo said to Guldan, “I’ve decided. A terrifying Monster Nest has appeared near Maji Village and needs to be destroyed. I’ll take that task.”
