Graceless - Page 67
Every moment of it lived up to Lane’s fantasies and beyond. The little sounds of shocked pleasure she made, the fast press of her hips as she lost herself in sensation, the tremble of her body as she came helplessly hard against Lane’s mouth first in silence and then loudly. Lane liked girls a lot; Lane had had plenty of girls. But Cassidy’s thighs clamping tightly around their head as she got Lane’s whole damn face wet was hands down the hottest experience of their life.
When she stopped shuddering, Lane nuzzled their face into her abdomen, using her body to wipe off some of the wetness and she literally giggled, a sound Lane had never heard come out of her mouth before. They kissed her deliberately with her own taste on their tongue and she grabbed them close and wouldn’t let go, her legs still trembling.
They lay in the sheets together, making out for a long time. Then, Lane’s phone sounded from somewhere in the living room.
“Don’t you dare.” Cassidy grabbed them tight and Lane smirked, kissed her, and slipped from her arms. They silenced the phone and came back into the bedroom, looking down at Cassidy. She looked incredibly beautiful, her lips kiss-swollen, her hair mussed, her cheeks flushed.
“So the thing is-”
“Do not say work, Lane-” she interrupted quickly.
“I have to go to work.”
Cassidy groaned, and they sat down on the covers next to her, leaning in to kiss her warm throat.
“Wait,” she said, wriggling out of reach, “how was that supposed to work with your date with Mia?” She shot them a look.
“I guess I maybe kind of wanted a back out plan,” they admitted with a trace of shame. They knew they had some making up to do there.
Cassidy shook her head at them but her eyes had gotten soft.
“You were cutting things really fine there,” she observed after a moment, reaching up and running her fingers through their hair. “If that alarm had gone off fifteen minutes ago…I would literally have died. Or,” she mused, “had you murdered.”
Lane grinned.
“If that alarm went off fifteen minutes ago you wouldn’t have even noticed,” they said with a trace of smugness and she rolled her eyes and smiled. Her face was more relaxed than they’d ever seen her look before and her eyelids looked heavy. “I’m only going for two hours,” they told her. “Brynn and Savannah are aiming for some kind of romantic at home dinner, since it’s too hard to go out right now. You should stay. I mean, if you want.”
“If you mean, do I want you to come back and finish what you started,” Cassidy raised her eyebrows, “the answer is yes.”
“Well,” said Lane, kissing her quickly and standing back up. “Get some rest then. You’ll need it.”
She was asleep by the time they got out of the shower.
“Hey,” Lane greeted Brynn as they slid the door to the main house open and found her and Tucker in the living room, watching on as Tucker played Mario Kart. She looked up.
“Hey!” she said, with a wide smile, her eyes extra bright. Lane smiled back. She was obviously happy to be getting some alone time with her wife. Savannah tripped into the room, looking bright and beautiful, like she was headed out to an actual restaurant and not just to their own balcony upstairs.
“Lane,” she said, her brow furrowing. “Do you know where Cassidy is? I haven’t seen her all afternoon and she’s not answering her phone.”
Lane concentrated very fucking hard on looking nonchalant.
“She’s fine,” they assured her. “She’s been hanging out at my place.”
“Oh!” Savannah looked relieved. “Is she back now?”
“Um,” Lane took a breath, “no. She’s actually asleep, I think.”
“Seriously?” Savannah said, her perfectly sculpted eyebrows raising. “Is she annoying you being over there?”
“No,” Lane just about managed. “She’s fine.”
“Honestly, would it kill her to answer her phone though?” Savannah said with a sigh. “I don’t know what I bothered to give her one for otherwise.”
“I mean, I actually don’t think she had it on her,” Lane remembered. “She came over from the pool, like, in her swimsuit.”
“Aren’t girls her age usually attached to their damn phones? She didn’t think to go check it even once, for hours? I thought she was dead.” Savannah rolled her eyes. Brynn had been watching the exchange with intense amusement.
“Honey,” she said now. “Lane is about to pass out.”
