Inside the Gregor Mansion, I stand in front of the control mirror. Once the dust settled, I saw a massive tree root lying on the ground.

It hadn’t moved at all. If I go outside, I’ll appear in the same spot, and the tree root might attack again. I sighed inwardly.

I finally realized it’s not easy to reach my destination. Danger lurks at every step. Now, the 10th-Order Tree Monster has spotted me.

This means it lives in the surrounding area. But I can’t change my direction or route because this is the shortest path to the next habitable area.

I came to the understanding that I must either fight the monster or wait for it to retract its root.

I appeared outside. The next second, the tree root moved.

“What the hell?” I muttered in disbelief.

I was certain I had seen countless eyes staring back at me. Before I could process it further, the tree roots suddenly retreated into the woods. It all happened within seconds.

I stood up from the floor, still gazing at the mirror. For a moment, I was unsure of what I had seen. Then I collected my thoughts, and my heart began to calm.

I asked the system about what I had witnessed.

[Ding! It’s the eyes of the monster.]

A mechanical voice echoed in my mind. My eyes flickered with understanding.

No wonder the monster had found me, it had eyes on its roots, countless eyes. I realized it had spotted me because of them.

The following day, when the first daylight touched the ground, I stepped outside and looked around.

Time passed. A few hours later, I had crossed half the distance. If I had wanted, I could have moved faster, but the fear of the mysterious multi-eyed tree monster was real.

From here, the distance to the habitable area was short. I wanted to reach it before evening.
