Twenty minutes later,
The cab driver dropped us in front of the City Lord Building. Apart from us, there were many visitors here, as the City Lord Building is one of the main attractions in the city.
”Let’s walk around the place,” I said to them.
The three of us started observing the area. I used the System to scan the location. The System results stated that apart from us, there were other Supreme Wizards here.
Hearing that, I started observing more closely. I spotted two middle-aged men appreciating the City Lord Building. They were dressed in normal clothes, but they were Supreme Wizards.
I came across female Supreme Wizards as well. I wasn’t the only one observing; some of them saw me and the two old men behind me.
However, no one caused any trouble. Everyone was minding their own business.
Patrick and Otto spotted a few Supreme Wizards as well, so they were alert. They, too, realized that the upcoming auction was going to be filled with danger.
Someone unafraid of the consequences was planning something big. Otherwise, no one in their right mind would plan to go against this many Supreme Wizards.
Still, there were two days left. Who knows? How many Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards could come to attend the auction at the last minute.
Both of them were careful. Otto was trying to listen to people’s conversations, not only the people outside but also the conversations happening inside the City Lord Building.
So far, he hadn’t heard anything important, though people were talking inside.
At the same time, the City Guard exited his cab. He didn’t expect the target to visit the City Lord Building. His appearance didn’t attract attention, so he started looking for the targets.
While searching, he came across a friend who was a City Guard as well. He immediately went to his side to inquire.
Fortunately, his friend had seen someone wearing a mask accompanied by two people. After learning their direction, the guard started walking toward the place.
Meanwhile
City Lord Dorian Graves was doing his job. He had received a report regarding a sudden influx of people. The City Auction Building was going to release the tickets tonight.
Young Master Sutton wanted more powerful people to attend the auction; that was why the tickets had been delayed.
At the same time, Dorian learned that hotels were running out of available rooms. Even the famous Star Hotel’s rooms were fully booked.
Dorian frowned. If no Magic Lord or Forbidden Wizards appeared, it would be fine.
But if a Magic Lord or Forbidden Wizard came at the last moment, he would have no choice but to listen to their demands.
He decided to call the Young Master again because he wanted to be clear.
He made the call, and it connected quickly.
”City Lord, what happened?” Hale asked.
”Young Master, I have met with a new problem,” Dorian replied.
”Tell me,” Hale said. He sounded calm, as if everything was under his control.
Even City Lord Dorian was stunned. He had thought the Young Master would react violently.
“Cough.”
Dorian cleared his throat before speaking. “Young Master, it appears many powerful figures are entering the city. The hotels are running out of rooms.”
”Even the Star Hotel is full. If these people have a background, they could make a demand of me, because the auction tickets have yet to be released,” Dorian explained.
”I doubt anyone at the level of Magic Lord would come here to this remote place. But even if a Magic Lord appears, it doesn’t matter.”
”I have a family elder with me. He is close to becoming a Forbidden Wizard. I’m going to be there tonight. So don’t worry. We will discuss this in person,” Hale Sutton said.
Hearing that, Dorian heaved a sigh of relief. Now he understood where Young Master Hale Sutton’s confidence came from.
”One more thing: I want the details of the Star Hotel guests. I’ll be there tonight. I need to give the list to an elder.”
”The elder knows the major forces and hidden forces. If there are people who shouldn’t be offended, the elder will tell us,” Hale said in a solemn tone.
”Don’t worry, Young Master. I have sent the City Guards. Each of them is collecting information right now. I guess the list will be ready before your arrival,” Dorian replied.
Hale Sutton was satisfied. They spoke for a few more minutes before ending the call.
Dorian relaxed a lot. Since Young Master Hale was accompanied by someone so powerful, he didn’t have to worry at all.
Even if Forbidden Wizards came, with the background of the Sutton Family, any problem could be solved.
But the poor City Lord didn’t know that their conversation was heard by someone.
Outside
Otto broke out into a cold sweat.
”Master, I think we can go back,” he said all of a sudden.
Hearing that, I turned around and saw Otto’s terrified expression.
Patrick noticed him and asked, “What happened?”
Otto didn’t reply, but he continued to stare at Young Master Vincent.
”System, what happened to this person?” I asked the System in my mind.
[Ding! Target’s heartbeat is racing.]
[He is scared.]
The System voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, I didn’t waste time. I understood that Otto had found something.
Not only that, but I also noticed that the same City Guard was following us right now.
”Let’s go back. I need to drink coffee,” I said to them.
Otto sighed in relief. Patrick saw this as well.
The three of us left the spot. The next second, several Supreme Wizards watched as the trio left, but they didn’t know why. They simply went back to minding their own business.
Only one person was facing difficulty: the City Guard. He had been following the target, but he failed to collect any information.
He was afraid of getting too close to the Supremes. Moreover, he had been eavesdropping on their conversation, but none of them shared any personal details.
For the most part, they didn’t speak. Rather, they were appreciating the building.
Now, they were gone, heading toward the coffee shop.
